I don’t blame you for feeling the way you do, but you just have to recognize the fact that he is just an ignorant fool who has been seduced by the flag-waving and war-mongering…just the results of the fear tactics that Bush played so well for so long. I » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 25, 2009 @ 9:40 pm Ah, ruby, ruby, ruby! You wonderful lady! It is great to see you here! I hope you had a super day! It is very satisfying for me to see the very best and brightest from HP appearing at the Planet! All the best to you too! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 25, 2009 @ 9:34 pm First of all, Scheherezade, a very warm and Merry Christmas to you! Now, for your “brother-in-law”, this is so sad…sad that someone is that miserable in his own life that he must put others down to make himself feel better. Buddhists believe that there really is no such thing as sin…only ignorance! But you might say, well what about murder? If one could only recognize the ramifications of their deeds,if they were not ignorant of those ramifications, they would never commit such an act. This is ignorance at its core. Likewise, the long term results of living a life of bigotry and intolerance cannot be seen by those who choose to live that way…the effects upon others is immeasurable. Just look at the effect upon yourself today from his actions and words. And now, those actions and deeds of his are having an effect upon all of us here as we learn of this situation from you. Our words and deeds are like a pebble thrown into a pond of water. Ripples are created that will eventually span that entire body of water, some even bouncing back from the shore line towards the center. All parts of the pond are affected. In the same way, his ignorant behavior affects us all, even if indirectly, by the continuation of that bigotry. It is felt throughout our society and is perpetuated in our children…and on and on it goes. Each of us has to learn. We are put on this Earth, I believe, for one purpose only…for our spiritual development, not religious but spiritual! We each learn at our own pace. Some people “get it” while others do not. It is sad that this man does not. It’s like the rungs of a ladder…some are on the lower rungs, some have moved up and up. Let us hope that he eventually moves up that ladder and realizes the hurt that he causes with his ignorance. It may not happen in this lifetime, but he will have another opportunity down the road in time. As for you, you keep on keepin’ on. From reading your posts, I believe I know you. You have shared some very intimate thoughts and feelings with us. You have moved up and up that ladder…and are still climbing! You cannot take him with you. He has to make that climb by himself. Be happy, be joyful…because you KNOW in your heart of hearts that you are right in the most basic way. Have a wonderful day, sweetie! And remember that other law in Buddhism…nothing lasts forever! π P.S. Sorry to be so late in posting my reply. We had a really bad ice storm here and my power was out for 6 hours! All is well now! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 25, 2009 @ 8:21 pm Un(der)reported News—Christmas Edition Well good morning to you too, javaz! I hope you are well! π Ah, the good ol’ days of rabbit ears and coat hangars with aluminum foil on top of the overly-large TV set! And it was FREE! Since I live by myself, my TV is noise in the house. But I do watch a lot of it, especially the news. My cable bill is through the roof! Living in a very mountainous area, I would not be able to get anything with a regular antenna, so I guess I have to pay it. » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 29, 2009 @ 6:17 am Hey K! I hope you are home and feeling better! Hospitals are not very nice places to hang out, especially during the holidays. Get well soon! I’m sending some positive energy in your direction! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 26, 2009 @ 12:57 pm Thank you and BlueStateMan for the kind thoughts. I told TRP below that I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like this in my life. The prayers, thoughts and energy sent this way was amazing. I swear that I picked up on it. My sister is not out of ICU or completely out of her coma yet. She has had three instances of coming around enough to mumble a few words. This is not much, but we are guardedly encouraged. I see from your post below that you are a classical musician…well I am too. Almost 20 years of piano! I’m such an incurable romantic and Chopin tops my list. But then, Bach is my rock! I love it! Your words to TRP were spot on! I hope he will hang in there! After all, there is nothing permanent! And thanks for letting me know your name! Sometimes, this anonymous thing just is not appropriate when we are this deep. Hope you’re having a great day with your hubby! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 26, 2009 @ 12:52 pm TRP, please take Kesmarn’s words to heart! He speaks for all of us here! These wonderful people just gave me encouragement to get through my own “dark night” when facing the loss of my sister on Christmas. I felt their love and caring and it has been immeasurable comfort to me. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like this in the many years I’ve been on line. You’re a poet? How about posting some of your work? I know that others would love to read it. Also your photographs. And I would take issue with you about there not being a need for your art anymore. Quite to the contrary, my friend! Our poets are our most important chroniclers of our times. Please consider posting some of your poems! I would be willing to bet that there is more than one PlanetPerson who would love it too! Consider it, won’t you? » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 26, 2009 @ 12:12 pm Good morning, TRP! Your post actually brought me to tears. There is much deep feeling between those lines you wrote. When we suffer a great loss, there are no words that anyone can say to make things better. All we can do is to give moral support. The day before Christmas, my sister was dying in an ICU many miles away from me. I was devastated and miserable, unable to go to her and unable to do anything to help. The moral support and wonderful words of encouragement from the people here at PPOV meant the world to me. These people, and I don’t even know their names, have been with me over the past several days with an unlimited supply of compassion and support that has been invaluable in my getting through a holiday that is not easy for many of us under normal circumstances. We are there for you, if only from our keyboards. You are definitely among friends! Lean on us and hang in there! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 26, 2009 @ 6:40 am Good mornin’, peacekiten! I always thought you were brilliant when I came to “know” you over at HP. I would always agree with your comments. It seemed like we are on the same page about most things. This article you posted is some of the most poignant I have read. This one is certainly worth saving and I intend to do so. One thing strikes me from all the comments as well as several articles posted over this holiday…that none of us are immune from pain and suffering. We ALL have our share. There is Scheherazade’s ignorant brother-in-law that makes her Christmas miserable with his bigotry, TRP’s loss that shatters him, and even my sister’s illness and fight for life that is gut-wrenching to the entire family. None can escape the randomness that causes complications and pain in our lives. But the best part of us is the compassion that these “slings and arrows” bring to the surface in us. Those of us who are hurting seem to have an unlimited supply of it for others less fortunate, either two or four-legged. In some strange way, our suffering makes us better people. That seems, as I re-read it, rather trite, but it does ring true. There is no doubt in my mind about you, lady! You’re one of the best and I am so glad to see you here at the Planet! Keep writing! I cannot wait to read your next post! Love to you! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 26, 2009 @ 6:30 am Twas The Night Before Christmas – A Parody ROTFLMFAO!!! Priceless! MERRY CHRISTMAS, ADLIB…AND ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL PLANETPEOPLE! BTW, the dinner turned out to be one of the best I’ve ever done! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 24, 2009 @ 9:37 pm Hi e’cat! Glad to see you! It is a “400 Bad Request” message that I get. Under that, it says something about a cookie and a long string of numbers. It only happens when I post a comment on PPOV. After that, I am not able to get on the site unless I use a different browser. I use both Firefox and Chrome. This has been going on for a couple of weeks and nobody seems to be able to figure it out. I have a program that works well to clean it out, but my regular cache/cookie cleaner does not do the trick. It’s not a huge problem…just a royal pain in the ass! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 11, 2011 @ 3:56 pm Hi everyone! Just got ANOTHER corrupted cookie! FYI…. Sigh! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 11, 2011 @ 3:41 pm Kalima, no problem. I did download the add-on to get rid of the cookies, but I can’t seem to make it work. I just used my program and I am now able to get back on. I’m sorry for the hassle. This only happens on PPOV. I hope you can find out what’s causing it. Thanks so much for your help! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 8, 2011 @ 4:05 pm Hi Adlib! I believe I am working with the latest version of Firefox. I just picked up ANOTHER one of these damned things, just now. I am using Chrome for the moment to send you the message. I missed the add-ons earlier. Will give these a try. Thanks so much for your help. This is really not a huge problem, just a pain in the ass! π I appreciate your trying to solve the problem. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 8, 2011 @ 3:47 pm Hey guys…I just picked up another corrupted cookie! I got rid of it for the time being. Hope you have some success in getting rid of these little bugs! I still have to use that additional program to wipe it out..FYI. The usual tool to clear the cache does not work for me. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 7, 2011 @ 12:15 pm Kes, the jet is mine!! Bito said so! π Or at least, when it gets out of the hangar where it’s been sitting for a while. Nobody said anything about a massage! Are they holding out on us??? π » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 7, 2011 @ 11:48 am Good morning, Adlib! I’m sorry I didn’t see your message until now. This is a strange thing…I don’t have a Mac. I use a HP laptop. When it first happened, I tried using the usual cache cleaner but it had no effect on it. My computer guy sent me this other program that I have had to use to clean it out. It does not require a re-boot but sometimes has temp files that need to be deleted with a re-boot. I’m sorry that this is a hassle for you. If I can give you any more information to help, please let me know. And a big thanks for looking into the problem! I use both Firefox and Chrome, mostly the former. Thanks again! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 6, 2011 @ 5:19 am Thanks, Kes. I did try that and it didn’t work for me. I had to use that other program I mentioned. But I appreciate your suggestion. Let’s hope that Admin can figure out where these things are coming from. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 5, 2011 @ 8:48 pm Cher, I use both Firefox and Chrome. It has happened on both browsers, so I don’t think it’s that. My regular Windows cache cleaner would not clear it up. I had to download another program to fix the problem. Like you, I’d never seen that 400 message before. I’ve not picked up one on any site other than PPOV. I hope it’s not something in Planet’s server. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 5, 2011 @ 7:34 pm Bito, I did notice yesterday that someone else mentioned having the same problem, but I can’t remember who it was. Hope you can figure something out. It’s really a giant pain in the ass! Thanks, good friend! π EDIT: Bito, now that I think about it, I believe that it was Murph who mentioned it. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 5, 2011 @ 7:11 pm Hey Adlib, Bito, Kalima or whoever…this corrupted cookie business is getting really old! I am picking them up only on PPOV. I don’t understand. Apparently, I’m not the only one. I do have a program called “TweakNow Power Pack 2011” that will remove all the junk from browsers and registry. It works well, but this is getting to be a royal pain in the arse. When the corrupted cookie gets into your computer, it bumps you out of PPOV and will not let you back onto the site. It gives you a “400” message of a bad request. You just have to run the clean-up program, reboot, and come back…time consuming. Can any of you shed any light on this? Any help would be most appreciated! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 5, 2011 @ 6:55 pm Oh, great! I was worried that I had done something screwy! Thanks a bunch! » Posted By Emerald1943 On September 22, 2011 @ 2:56 pm Adlib, if you’re available, I submitted a new piece this morning, titled “The GOP’s War on Women…at the State Level”. It still is pending. I wondered if I did something wrong. If so, I’ll be glad to fix it. Thanks! » Posted By Emerald1943 On September 22, 2011 @ 2:48 pm Kalima, KQ, or whoever…I’ve got a problem. I have submitted a new post that is ‘under review’. There is a chart in the middle of it with several columns. When I am in the edit mode, it shows up correctly with the columns lined up. But when I preview it, the columns appear all run together. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks for your help! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On September 12, 2011 @ 5:32 pm Hey everyone! I have a couple of updates on the American Dream thread. Please include them for me! I really appreciate the help! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On August 26, 2011 @ 1:42 pm Adlib, I just added an update. Can you fix it for me please? Thank you so much! » Posted By Emerald1943 On August 24, 2011 @ 4:04 pm Adlib, great! That’s all I needed to know…simple enough! » Posted By Emerald1943 On August 24, 2011 @ 3:52 pm Hey guys! HELP! I’ve tried all I know to do, but I can’t find a way to add more to my American Dream piece. I want to do an update to be added to the content of the main piece, not leave a comment. Is there a way to do that? I thought I would be able to do it by using “Grow Info” but could find no way. Thanks everyone! BTW, thanks for fixing my links! » Posted By Emerald1943 On August 24, 2011 @ 10:41 am HP POST POSITIVE MAIN???? You gotta’ be kidding! I haven’t seen one of those in months! It’s always gloom and doom over there. I did go over yesterday for a “lurk” but had to return home quickly. I can’t take the negativity for prolong periods! How are you, abby? You seem to be in fine form this morning! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 5, 2010 @ 7:29 amComments Posted By Emerald1943
