Displaying 2,971 To 3,000 Of 3,333 Comments When To Give Terrorists What They Want And When Not To Hi Sue! I don’t feel that I am sufficiently prepared to write about these C Street thugs, but I believe it would be excellent material for someone. I’m going to do some research and see what I can come up with. I would welcome your input! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 11:28 am No, TPR…I didn’t mean you were off topic. I meant that I was. Your post was certainly pertinent. This is a very broad subject that brings up so much of “our culture” vs. “their culture” and the religious fanaticism by some on both sides. π » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 10:50 am Glad to hear it! This is beyond ridiculous! But we cannot be too careful, I guess. » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 10:45 am Excellent comment, scher! Good to see you today! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 10:42 am Kudos to all here! I am reading some amazing comments from all of you! Excellent discussion! I am learning so much from just hanging out on the Planet! π I’m just sayin’….. » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 10:35 am Good point, nellie. But is opening stores on certain days a matter of “accommodation” of the non-Christians in our society, or is it simply homage to the almighty dollar? I cannot imagine Walmart NOT being open seven days per week! Did I miss the point? » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 10:30 am Hi TRP! Hope you are well! This is a little off topic to the article itself, but is pertinent to your comment, I think. I have been really interested in Jeff Sharlett’s work on “the Family”, the notorious C Street gang in Washington. These people make the regular religious right-wingers look silly! The people involved are way far right of the Right and believe that our government (as well as those of other countries) should be overthrown. They want to establish a theocracy in place of our current system. They also believe that they have been chosen by “God” to rule over the rest of us, and any acts committed by their members are okay because they have been “ordained by God” and therefore, cannot make errors. It has also been reported that they admire Hitler for his “leadership”. The recent sex scandals involving Ensign, Sanford, and other members have let a little air out of their balloon, but they persist. The most disturbing fact is that some of these men sit in the Houses of Congress and make our laws. It has also been reported that some of them travel to other countries, negotiating on behalf of the US government…WITHOUT the approval from the US State Department. These are some of the worst bible-thumpers and should be, IMHO, investigated fully. They are exceedingly dangerous for what they advocate. It certainly borders on treason! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 10:20 am Breaking news….a suspicious vehicle parked in Times Square. Police are investigating and people being evacuated from the area!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 9:51 am Thank you, abby, for your article! Excellent! I do have a question though. I have no knowledge whatsoever of modern British law. Do you have a “free speech” provision, or anything like our Constitution guaranteeing rights to the individual? I’m sure there must be something like it as many of our laws came directly from English law. I’m just curious. I am surprised, however, that British courts would allow a second system to exist. I may be in the minority, but I believe that the religious laws should take second place to the secular law of the land, if only for the preservation of society. I cannot imagine us having “honor killings” in this country and allowing the men to walk free because some ancient religious law says that it’s okay to commit the crime. Good going there! I look forward to more of your posts! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 9:48 am My Dog, that’s horrible, javaz! What is wrong with these people? With all our struggles for the rights of women and the progress made in this country, we sometimes forget that women are nothing but chattel in other cultures. My heart goes out to the little girl in Phoenix! Let us hope that justice will come to those who brutalized this child, including her parents! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 9:33 am Great article, Adlib! Thanks for your explanation. This is not a subject that many of us know much about. It just occurs to me that the game is rigged. We the People don’t stand a chance unless we educate ourselves about these bills and continue to let our representatives know how we feel. Your article goes a long way in helping us to understand the issue! Meanwhile, the rich get richer…and the rest of us are sucking wind! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 29, 2009 @ 6:28 pm Thank you so much, Pashma! I am truly overjoyed! And a big Happy New Year to you and yours! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 12:27 pm UPDATE! Sherri has just been moved out of ICU! She will still remain in the hospital but is improving by the hour! I spoke with her again last night for about 30 minutes. She was quite lucid and spoke of the epiphany she has experienced in coming so close to death. I sense something new in her, and it’s a beautiful thing to see. I hope to be able to go to her this next week, and will be sure to keep you all posted on the wonderful developments! Again, my most heart-felt thanks to everyone here at the Planet! You people are terrific and I send my love to each of you! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 30, 2009 @ 11:24 am Where is Cher? Anyone seen her? She always adds so much to our conversation! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 29, 2009 @ 6:53 pm I had an old maid aunt who thought Serendipity’s were for light bladder control! LMAO » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 29, 2009 @ 6:42 pm Everyone, please check “older comments” to see my blanket thanks to you all. I am so grateful for all the wonderful comments and good wishes! This has been a “red letter day” for me! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 29, 2009 @ 6:34 pm I usually try to answer each of you individually, but there are so many beautiful replies to my post, so I’ll just thank you all again. I mean this with all sincerity…there IS power in collective thought! Call it prayer, good vibes, positive energy, or whatever…but you all had a part in this. I know it in my heart of hearts! And I will always be grateful to each of you! You truly are my friends! Love to each of you! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 29, 2009 @ 3:11 pm Hi Javaz! I’m so terribly sorry to hear your news. One thing comes to mind…perhaps someone else has already said the same thing, but this makes me think of the fact that NONE of us are immune from these things in life. I don’t believe I have ever known of a family where there was not some kind of problem, even splitting families and dividing siblings. I have such a situation in my own family. Yes, it does hurt. It makes no sense. You question yourself over and over, and the answer just never comes. I have a sister that I have not seen or heard from since 1994. She only lives about 125 miles from me, and I know for a fact that she visits the area here. That really does hurt, but it’s okay. I have decided that I can only make decisions for myself. I am the one who controls my happiness. I have to give up the hurt. I cannot let it make me miserable. And so, I go on. I may never know the reasons… I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all better for you. I am so sorry for your loss. I can only wish you peace! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 7, 2010 @ 8:16 pm Hey Kes! 8″ over my head?? More like TWO FEET over my head! My son is a big one…tried out for the Washington Redskins a few years ago..one heck of a defensive end! (They should have kept him…perhaps their record would be a little better!) LOL Glad to see you all here! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 7, 2010 @ 11:50 am Good morning, all you beautiful PlanetPeople! Sorry I have been AWOL in the last two days. My son is here from his home in Tennessee and we are doing some repairs around my house…sorely needed. A new light fixture in my laundry room, a new motion-sensor for my driveway, etc. I never thought I would be so excited about a new light! Most of the enjoyment is because I never get to spend much time with my son. He lives about 3 hours from here and is busy but took time to come over to help out his mommy! π Well, we just thought we were through with the snow…we’ve got another storm moving towards us now with heavy snow expected tonight. We still have about 8-10″ of hard snow left from the storm before Christmas. Enough drivel…back to work! I trust everyone is OK! I’ll be back later to give you another dose of drivel! Have a great day!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 7, 2010 @ 9:59 am Morning, Abby! I highly recommend shih tzus to anyone who might want a great companion! My two are fantastic doggies! π Lively and intelligent, very affectionate. But my little black one, Mani, thinks the only reason for living is to be on my lap! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 6, 2010 @ 9:23 am Hey Abby! Sorry for the delay but my daughter called and was in one of her talkative moods. I can’t type and talk at the same time…kinda’ like walking and chewing gum! Know what I mean? π » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 5, 2010 @ 8:12 am LOL! F*ck Cheney!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 5, 2010 @ 7:55 am Good morning, Kalima! Or maybe I should say good evening! We definitely need to do something about this time difference…may I suggest that you move to the US?? π Just kidding, but we miss you when you are sleeping! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 5, 2010 @ 7:44 am Oh, just peachy! Rub it in already, javaz! It is now 12 balmy degrees here with a wind chill of -5 degrees…and it’s snowing…again! π This has been the weather pattern here for days and days. Everyone has acute cabin fever! There is no way to go outside for anything. Frostbite can occur in a matter of only a few minutes at these temperatures. I’m not even letting my doggies outside even though Mani, my little black one, is sitting by the door, whining to go. I’m afraid their little paws would freeze. They do have sweaters but nothing to protect those tiny paws. My furnace is running practically all the time, trying to keep up with the cold. I’m sure the gas bill is going to be through the roof! My son was planning a visit today but he may have to postpone the trip due to the weather. We are not supposed to get more than 5 or 6 inches of additional snow today but in addition to what we already have, that can make driving tricky. Well, enough of my silly mundane drivel! Let’s get to the politics!! That should get my blood boiling and perhaps warm my feet a little! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 5, 2010 @ 7:25 am Oh Sh*t!! Now I’ve gone and done it!! π LMAO » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 2, 2010 @ 1:29 pm Noooo, you didn’t???? LMAO » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 2, 2010 @ 1:04 pm Hey Khirad! I mis-typed. I meant to mention Oxycontin as opposed to Vicodin. However, both are addictive if abused. Thanks for jogging my brain! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 2, 2010 @ 12:47 pm LOL! Well, you know there HAVE been some questions about your sanity, bit! π Just kidding! (But I still have serious concerns about you!) » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 2, 2010 @ 12:43 pm Hi J! Glad to see you here! It’s much more work to take them down!! I always dread doing that. The living room looks so drab after I pack everything away. I was going to attempt to take down my tree today, but what the heck! One more day won’t hurt anything! Check back with me in early February! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 2, 2010 @ 12:41 pmComments Posted By Emerald1943
You may not realize it, but you here at the Planet have been my rock for the past week. You’ve consoled me and helped me over the tough times with your caring and a little humor too.
Dana
He’s a great son and I’m really proud of the man he’s become!
