My point was that we should welcome the viewpoints of all people who are of good will, even if their POV is different than ours. We do have things we can learn from both sides. It shouldn’t be huge lefty or huge righty. It should be work for common ground, and unless we learn from each other, it isn’t going to happen. I know a lot of very good democrats who have good fundamentals (has nothing to do with religion) and yet are fairly conservative in how they live their lives. And I know good Republicans who believe in the value of each individual and that we all have responsibilities to each other. Doesn’t make them liberals, makes them good people. IMO, good posts come from people who, after thinking about things, are sincere and can back up their opinion with verifiable facts. I’m not a hunter anymore, but I understand the responsible hunter’s concepts on wildlife conservation. I don’t have children, but I understand the concerns of those who do and want them to be safe. If we cannot understand another POV, even if we don’t agree with it, we close ourselves off from the world. And if we cannot understand things which we ourselves have never experienced, then we are forever doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
