javaz, saw this over at HP, sorry guys, forgot the Friday boycott…

Seems that Sen. McCain’s new campaign slogan is “He’s Arizona’s last line of defense.”

Are you guys being invaded or something? LOL

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 8, 2010 @ 9:52 am

Not too bad if you have 4-wheel drive, we’re so used to it and the town really keeps up with the snow, so the major streets are always clear. Hubbsters plows our drive and the little street that we live on.

Next time it snows, I’m going to take my camera with me to show everyone how beautiful it is on the water during a storm.

Was down at my husbands shop this morning, we rent land from one of the big shellfish companies here on the water….the big shellfish boats were still at the dock all covered with snow, the water black and shining, the sky grey….looked like a postcard or Ansel Adams photo.

Afternoon javaz…No LIEberman is not very popular here in snowy and cold CT these days. Just snowed this morning, it was beautiful out during our daily walk, wish I had a camera with me to take some pictures to show all of you…New England winters at it’s finest.

His star power here started to dim during the last presidential race when he put his arms around McCain….that’s when the CT Dems and Independents tried to get him re-called.

Hope all is well with everyone here at the Planet, us here in CT are excited that we have a good candidate, Richard Blumenthal, to replace Dodd.

Talk is that Dodd will go for broke on all bills, what the heck he has nothing political to loose, and that he will be picked up by the Obama admin. for some key position…just talk, but who knows what the future will bring us.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 8, 2010 @ 9:16 am

Senate seats in play

Bito-I’m from CT….Dodd’s seat is safe with Blumenthal, we have to wait till 2012 to get Lieberman out, looks like that will go to a Dem also.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 7, 2010 @ 12:43 pm

nellie, good post…would love to somehow go after the MSM with a letter/e-mail campaign regarding all this doom and gloom for the Dems.

Not sure it would work, there are other sites out there, MediaMatters, but they seem to concentrate on certain personalities, not what the MSM reports in general.

Would love to go after CNN and the big Networks, to see if we could take it back and have ‘fair and balanced’ and ‘the whole story’ news reporting once again…just my dream.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 7, 2010 @ 7:39 am

Abby, as a resident of CT I can give you a little overview of Blumenthal.

He came out against the new Banking regulation bill because it did not address the Hedge Fund issues of regulation, very soft regs., we have the largest concentration of hedge funds here in CT than in the rest of the country.

He also had an issue with the Fed. regulation overriding the State Banking regs….he has fought for some of the harshest regs. he could in a Republican State Senate.

He was very involved in the Big Tobacco lawsuit, and just recently went after our Governor, J. Rell (R), for diverting the tobacco funds to the general fund last year in a hush hush manner. The funds are supposed to be used for smoking sensation classes, public ads, etc.

Also went after the governor once again for diverting the Lotto funds and the none-profit vanity plates to the general fund. The lotto funds where supposed to go for education and the non-profit vanity plates, like ‘Save the Sound’ where supposed to go to various non-profits that support that cause. So he is not so well liked by the republicans here in CT, this could be the reason that the governor has chosen not run for re-election. He’s got a lot of dirt on her…she’s a Bush wannabe.

He fights for the little guy, not a great speaker, but a pit bull once he gets involved. Is extremely popular here, has some issues by being connected/friends with Dodd, nothing that his record can’t overcome.

No Satisfaction

Good post javaz, don’t worry about the picture, your words tells us more than a picture would.

I hate to say this, but I swear the economic down turn for us was an economic opportunity for major and mid-size corporations in way of cutting salary overhead.

They have their employees by the balls….Don’t like what we offer you, two days of month off with no pay or working 55 hrs per week no overtime, too bad. There are 100 people that would kill for your job right now…

Corporations have used economic down turns to their advantage for ages now, I’ve seen it in the 80’s, 90’s and now. Some things never change.

“Populist Republican” is an Oxymoron

Every tax law or de-regulation that the CoC has fought for in the past years has helped Corp. America and has placed the small guy at a disadvantage for doing business.

When a Corp. pays 2.3% in tax, because of their ability to diversify and find tax shelters overseas and we, as LLC’s and sole owners pay 28% to 38% tax on our income, don’t think we don’t pay attention to what’s going on. It’s just that we don’t have a voice anymore, even thought they, the CoC and the Republicans, say we do.

This bill has been watered down like so many, but it is a start for regulating these unfettered abuses by the banks and financial institutions by the creation of the CFPA.

Just wish someone would start up a real group for the small businessman so that our real voices could be heard in DC.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 5, 2010 @ 12:25 pm

My view, along with many of our friends and associates, who are small business owners and former CoC members, believe, if the Chamber doesn’t like it, then it must be good for us.

So many of us small business owners have defected from the CoC because of their ties to the Mongo Corporations and political affiliations. They are no longer the voice of the small business owner, but the voice of Corporate America, who enjoy more of the benefits of the CoC than we do.

They have lost their power to persuade us, this fear mongering by the CoC and the Republicans seem to be back firing with the real small business owners…so I have hope that this, like their out cry against Health Care Reform will fall on deaf ears.

Blame Rumsfeld

Who’s really making these calls here?

Who’s agenda is it to have the MSM to push certain things for us to focus on, like SS and Medicare waste and not other things, like what you are saying…the bloated DHS, intelligence and military budgets?

There are so many things going on in this country and we hear about 1/10th of them…seems that the half naked photo’s of Tiger are more important than a failure of our intelligence agencies.
