Time For Action!

nellie, love your suggestions and your writing, any help from all who write here would be greatly appreciated by me! πŸ™‚

Jan, my maternal Grandfather and Great Grandfather worked for the coal mines in and around south western Virginia…both died very young.

Our country seems to forget what the Unions have done for the American worker, now they have become merchants of the devil in some peoples eyes.

Adlib, my two cents:

Yes on all counts, but not big on Item #4, very hard to get done.

Item #1, would like to see major petition drives on progress issues promoted on site, with easy access for members. Right now unless another member mentions the petition with a link, like Graysons, some of us, me, might not be aware of it.

Item #5, would love help drafting letters to the editors of local papers, my area in CT seems to becoming very conservative and teabaggerish when it comes to the letters to editor section. Help would be much appreciated, from a non writer like me.

Round One of the New President Obama: The Populist

Happy Birthday bito!

Hope your day has been better than Maher’s, oh by the way, you’re nothing like that egotistical little twit.

And those of you who wonder why Maher acts like he does, just look how small his hands are….just saying.

The Supreme Court puts our democracy in the hands of corporations

Thanks to all you for posting all the petitions links here tonight, have signed them all and will be forwarding these links to as many people as possible tomorrow.

I was thinking of doing just that this morning by snail mail…Obama needs to come out strong on corporate/Banking reform, not this watered down bullshit that he’s presented in the past.

This crap about being bipartisan is not working, he needs to make some enemies, (corps/banks/repugs), and have some clear proposals and I think the people will be behind him.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 21, 2010 @ 11:57 pm

Hey Hope, I’m with you, I think all this talk about trying to work with the Repugs is hog wash…we’ve been there and done that, didn’t work, will never work.

AdLib, your not alone in your thinking…and your not evil.

I can just see it now, our Senators and Congresspeople wearing sponsorship patches sewn onto to their suit jackets….with a large logo of Bank of America behind the speaker of the house’s seat.

People we have been sold to the highest bidder.

She Said What?!?

Well boom I’m glad you posted this, it gets us all talking and sharing our experiences with this type of behavior and thinking about what we would, should or could do in this situation.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 12:55 pm

KQ, your right on sharing experiences, I think people get more out of this than just directives.

We can all learn from each others experiences, what worked and what didn’t.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 12:26 pm

Boom, I see that your posting here, what do you think? All these suggestions should get you pointed in the right direction….for what’s best for you and what you are comfortable doing about this tricky sitituation.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 12:17 pm

You wouldn’t believe what goes on…specially in the smaller companies where HR does not have a big presence.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 12:15 pm

LOL…how you live there I’ll never understand, but then again I live in a wall street infested repugly neighborhood that is just as bad… πŸ™‚

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 12:09 pm

nell, sometimes it’s easier to use the company policy as cover for what you believe is offensive personally.

She has to work with this person, and sometimes people take offense personally when confronted.

They can make life real hard for you at work….been there done that, learned that some will never see the light, no matter what you say or do.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 12:05 pm

Boom, tough situation for you…I’m in agreement with kesmarn. I would confront her and tell her that her comments were in direct violation with your companies code of ethics and that because of your relationship, you thought about it and have decided that you were not going to report her. But, if she says something like this again, you have no other recourse but to report it.

You may have to explain why her comment is inappropriate, I find that people that say things like this have no clue how off base they are.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 11:43 am

AdLib, what if this memo was sent out and this women who made this statement to boomer doesn’t connect the dots?

In my experiences, in-laws, the racist and bigoted remarks that these people spew forth is so ingrained into their brains and belief systems. Saying things like this to them is like breathing, they think nothing of it.

And when it is hinted, not a full out confrontation, that their remarks were off base, the clueless look in their eyes tells me that they just don’t get it.

I not defending this women’s remarks, but hinting doesn’t work and having these types of people suddenly become self aware, ain’t going to happen.

Back to the Future

Actually I agree with you and I have tried to no avail posting something like this over at other sites…

Some seem to willfully forget what and how much our government does for us, and how little, percentage wise, we pay in taxes compared to other countries.

Would love for Obama to say “Fuck you everyone, I’m cutting you all off to save money and cut the deficit…”

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 11:34 am

Sue, I think you’ve hit on something here…no ticky no shirty, oh well, next person in line….

It might be high time that someone reminds these dimwits what the government does do for them…

Sounds like it, if you read the comments made on the Boston Globe’s site, she just about committed high treason by not acknowledging the Sox’s fans according to those posts.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 11:25 am

Should’ve stood out in the cold in front of Fanway Park and shook hands with the Sox’s fans….

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2010 @ 11:18 am

Sue, I am hoping your being sarcastic, LOL, πŸ™‚ !

Saying something like that would surely snap everyone to attention and back to reality!

Friday Night Music Thread – You Ain’t Heard Nothin’ Yet!

I’ve been thinking of my Mom, she’ll be gone 17 yrs. at the end of this month, the Scottish music is her doing, we went every year to the Highland Games.

This was my brief stint as a highland dancer, until boobs and boys came on to the scene…
