Ted Cruz Claims That Arithmetic is a Hoax

Wow Kes, what a great “get” of an interview, kept me riveted and fascinated (and a little sympathetic for your having to go through it). Where was the interview held, in Barton’s secret closet where his mother used to send him when he was a “sinful” boy?

Are these loons soon denial that they are wholly unaware of what frauds they are? Or is it more of a game they play, knowing full well their background isn’t legit but they pretend it is and see if they can fool others?

At a time when our students’ test scores are dropping compared to the rest of the world, these wackos would rather take MORE time away from them to learn math, English, science etc., so they can be taught Christian religious beliefs as facst (I assume these so-called religious people wouldn’t want the Koran taught too)?

Religion is about faith and in the US, it’s about the freedom to follow one’s own religious beliefs. It is not something that is appropriate to force upon all children as cold, absolutist facts like multiplication and gravity especially because there are a variety of religious beliefs among people and they conflict.

There is only one correct answer to, “What is 2 + 2?” (unless you’re Ted Cruz) but how can there be any one correct answer when it comes to religious beliefs?

CL, any interview with Ted Cruz makes me dizzy! The feedback from just having him sit near a microphone with that tin foil hat is maddening enough!

Nirek, when I mentioned to Cruz that an interview with him would be a coup for The Planet, he repeated the words, “Coup of planet…yeah…” and agreed to do it.

I think the goal now for the GOP is to optimize lying. They know they lie, that’s not the problem, it’s having to walk back a lie after it’s exposed.

I think that’s a good idea, a series of interviews with GOP figures sounds like a lot of fun!

NirekJunior, great to see The Smothers Brothers, nice pick!

BTW, to embed YouTube videos, just insert the letter “v” after the “http” in the link (“https”) and our software automatically embeds the video (also delete the “s” if the link begins “https”).

Great to see you!

Lindsey Graham and his REAL Benghazi Scandal

exfanofariana, big thanks back at ya!

» Posted By AdLib On May 12, 2014 @ 4:42 pm

KT, I agree that the Dems should boycott the committee, best to let it be seen as a Republican propaganda tool which is all it is. Why should Dems participate? All questions have already been answered, nothing to be gained.

Murph, this is a very revealing story about the fraud of the GOP and their cynical manufacturing of “scandals”.

What comes to mind is the Dick Cheney/Judith Miller scam at the NYT to spread lies and propaganda about Iraq building nuclear weapons.

It’s like watching two prostitutes service each other. Graham exploited Logan to spread lies and propaganda and Logan exploited Graham to promote her career and agenda. And both violated the trust and duty they have to their professions.

Republicans Commit to Using New Language: Benghazian

Not for Benghazis!

» Posted By AdLib On May 8, 2014 @ 11:41 am

😆 Love it, Kalima!

I think another letter should come from Ira S. Scandle!

» Posted By AdLib On May 7, 2014 @ 4:15 pm

Nirek, our government has become just a platform for campaigning for re-election and control instead of actually governing. So of course the cynical Republicans just exploit the deaths of Americans because it helps them fund raise and have at least one phony issue to run on this year…even if it is manufactured and irrelevant to their mindless base.

Those Benghazis can go Benghazi themselves in the Benghazi!

A big compliment indeed to invoke Mr. Vonnegut! Thanks KT!

I feel a song coming on…

“Hello, I must Benghazi!
I cannot stay,
I came to say
I must Benghazi.
I’m glad I came
but just the same
I must Benghazi.

For my sake you must stay,
for if you go away,
you’ll spoil this party
I am throwing.

I’ll stay a week or two,
I’ll stay the summer through,
but I am telling you,
I must Benghazi.”

Thanks Benghazi! Benghazi have to say that it’s kind of fun and easy to talk to other Benghazis in Benghazian!

Taxes? We Don’t Need No Stinking Taxes!

Nirek, also just heard that there will be a nationwide protest next week by fast food workers for raising the minimum wage.

We need to keep in mind that not only do these corporations evade paying taxes but they drain billions in taxes that everyone else pays by paying their workers wages that aren’t liveable which have to be supplemented by government safety net programs.

Raising the minimum wage and ridding the tax code of these massive loopholes that allow billion dollar corporations to pay no taxes would turbo charge our economy, eliminate the deficit and raise the standard of living for everyone while addressing the economic inequity out there to at least a small degree.

» Posted By AdLib On May 7, 2014 @ 1:01 pm

Many good points you bring up here, Nirek. The central issue is of course that the corporations and wealthy have succeeded over the years to get their paid-for congresspeople to pass tax laws that allow them to escape paying taxes. And of course, the Republican hypocrisy on the deficit proves how dishonest they are, the deficit only matters when the subject is the 99% getting services and aid but they won’t budge on fixing the tax loopholes or raising taxes. So the deficit really doesn’t matter to them, does it?

It is an enormous outrage that billion dollar corporations pay no taxes but their employees do. Our government and democracy has fallen apart at this point, Congress serves the oligarchy over the people as that recent report pointed out.

This isn’t sustainable and one way or another it will have to change. Whether it’s another economic crash or a populist uprising that sweeps across the nation (and across the world?) and demands its interests are addressed above the oligarchs.

Homeless Veterans, America’s Secret Disgrace

Just a computer burp, my pleasure!

» Posted By AdLib On May 2, 2014 @ 11:48 am

Nirek, don’t know if you saw this story, about the Phoenix VA Hospital being accused of creating a secret waiting list that they used to hide how long they would keep Vets from being treated, keeping them on the secret list until they could put them on the official list where they would have a short waiting period to be seen.

Official inquiries begin for Phoenix VA hospital with alleged ‘secret waiting list’

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/federal-eye/wp/2014/04/27/official-inquiries-begin-for-phoenix-va-hospital-with-alleged-secret-waiting-list/

It’s outrageous that we have such callous politicians who brag about supporting our troops and how tough they are by sending them to wars but when they come back, they couldn’t be bothered with them. That attitude is reflected in allegations like this.

Donald Sterling and Cliven Bundy Start Racist “League of Their Own”

Kalima, yes, it they can confirm she impersonated a government official, it is a crime. Imagine that, one of the elite breaking the law to do what they want? She better sell out too or someone would be smart to file a criminal complaint against her for that.

» Posted By AdLib On May 1, 2014 @ 4:46 pm

Kalima, is this surprising? Did anyone think that anyone who was married for years to Sterling would be a liberally-minded Progressive…or a like-minded racist?

Kind of ironic that many black people are among those who now refuse to allow the Sterlings to continue residing at The Staples Center.

» Posted By AdLib On May 1, 2014 @ 3:28 pm

Stephen Colbert gets a wag of my finger for copying this post and suggesting that Sterling start a racist league of his own. And Stephen, don’t have your lawyers copy my lawyers’ lawsuit or they will have to sue for in return which your lawyers would then copy and a Mobius lawsuit would ensue that creates a black hole and destroys the universe.

Unca, it seems to always be the way that the wealthy and powerful accumulate so much hubris as they accumulate wealth and power, they never see it coming when the many push back and overwhelm them.

And there’s been a lot of that going on lately in a variety of countries. It’s been a bit here and there in the U.S., Occupy Wall Street, fast food worker protests over minimum wage, immigration reform protests, this protest against racism and Sterling…now if only we can unite the majority on taking on the big picture behind all of this, the tyranny of the wealthy minority over the majority, big changes could happen.
