But, according to FOX News it’s the end of Obama’s Presidency. WTF? Same when that Republican seat wen to Dems. Again, the Republicans ran a mediocre campaign. According to MSNBC it was sign that the GOP was on life support. It’s boring to say, “Well, that’s politics. Let’s move on to the next story.” No we gotta stay on this molehill and build it into a mountain. Find the best way to twist this to fit our editorial bias. I think this is the perfect size for the DP. A lot of past issues had many redundant stories in it. I think you can dial back the content and still deliver a thorough picture of the political and social landscape. I think you could save time, give more focus to important issues, and still deliver the best damn progressive newspaper on the internet. They’ve been getting pretty much everything they want for about a decade now. 2.)It’s easy to criticize Obama’s jobs bill. “Why did it take so long?”, “Why doesn’t he push for more?”, “Will he relent to ridiculous Republican demands?” But I believe him when he says it will be different. Campaign Obama is a whole different animal than President Obama. I think he’ll get it done or at least get enough to matter. 3.)I know people in Italy routinely stay with their parents all the way to their 30’s but that’s just not how it goes here. Nothing wrong with it. As long as your trying to help and not just mooching. But many people expect to have the life that will carry them forward by this age. I think there’s a lot of disappointed people living with their parents right now. Not disappointed with the situation just the inability to change it. 4.)Homegrown terrorism? No one in this world is just gonna hand you something, you have to go get it. I think she understands that. How well her policy knowledge and calm demeanor transfer to the soundbite oriented, conflict creating machine that is politics is very much up for debate. I think people should re-watch her appearances before Congress. She’s not about to let people walk all over her. But she’s not political, in that she doesn’t play the game. She’s above it. American hasn’t really changed. Just gotten more paranoid. Layers of unnecessary bureaucracy and intrusive laws. Most Americans lives did not change after 9/11. Most Americans have no attachments to the occupations that followed. Most Americans would gladly trade liberty for perceived security. Just make sure The Bachelor airs on time. They weren’t asked to sacrifice, to give anything to the cause. They were told to shop and keep feeding h machine. And they got A nice fat tax break. Boy, we sure have given a lot. No one thinks much about the Patriot Act now a days because we have a Democrat in the White House and people think they don’t do bad things. Never mind the fact he’s had his AG in court defending these awful things since he first took office. People say Obama isn’t using it like Bush did but the papers tell a different story. Never mind that the Patriot Act has actually been expanded, that Obama has sought more leeway to wiretap and kidnap people from airports. But why should they worry? They’re busy not giving a shit about unemployment. I don’t care if Obama is more “trustworthy”. It’s an authority no one should have. Instead of dismantling the laws that give unjust power to the Presidency, Obama has sought to keep them and even expand them. Security and defense is the biggest issue me and Obama differ on. Hell, the President may not even know about half the things they’re doing in his name. Still not an excuse to fight to keep these terrible laws in place. Congress has from time to time passed laws to broaden the definition. The Alien and Sedition Acts being one and the equally controversial Espionage Act of 1917. The Constitution dictates how the crime is processed but gives Congress leeway to determine what is treason. One broad definition used from time to time was “acts intentionally designed to harm America”. And many times a foreign power does not even need to be involved. Remember the “Communist scare” during the Cold War and people accused of treason for intentionally operating against the interests of the country. I dunno if what the Republicans are doing right now is treason or not. The President being openly opposed by a rival party si nothign new. Threats to hold up Congress until he bows or leaves is nothing new either. It pretty much got Newt Gingrich fired. That and the severe corruption. Maybe you could get a petty treason charge, something minor. But refusing to do the business of the people isn’t really a jailable offense.
