Why the Media Don’t Get Obama’s Campaign

Obama will win. As low as his numbers are(and they are rising in many areas of the country)

Congress’ numbers are far, FAR lower. I think Democrats will take the House but I don’ think it will be a wide margin anymore.

I think a lot of people are going to lose their jobs. Mostly Republicans but the numbers are too low for the Democrats to get through unscathed.

Though I agree that Obama has better ideas, it won’t be his policies that win him re-election. Just the simple fact that the Republicans have nothing.

All this time they’ve controlled the House, not a single bill to create jobs. Their lack of interest in governing the country will be their downfall.

Occupy – The Finest Form of Patriotism

Each of you, for himself, by himself and on his own responsibility, must speak. And it is a solemn and weighty responsibility, and not lightly to be flung aside at the bullying of pulpit, press, government, or the empty catch-phrases of politicians. Each must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, and which course is patriotic and which isn’t. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide it against your convictions is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may. If you alone of all the nation shall decide one way, and that way be the right way according to your convictions of the right, you have done your duty by yourself and by your country–hold up your head! You have nothing to be ashamed of.

2012: The End of America As We Know It

Good stuff KQ.

I don’ think China will ever overtake us though. They have their own economic problems coming up down the road. They are no more immune to it than we are.

“A new normal” is a good way to put it but I think of it as a “temporary normal”.

Would you agree that great world changing developments in technology can quickly shift the fortunes of not just a country but the world?

That’s what I see in the future. That is where my optimism comes from. I think we will create the means out of this “mess”. Whether it’s advancements in energy, medicine, infrastructure, robotics, computing or some combination of them.

When China stumbles, we will push forward. We have the mechanisms in pace to do it. I don’t think the neo-cons will win. I don’t think they will deprive of us of what we need to succeed.

I think, again, they will be a footnote on the wrong side of history like every other person of group who dared to stand in the way of progress.

Al, I realize all of that.

The secret “peace talks”, the student demonstrations.

I also realize the peace talks were a sham. As pointed out in the book “no Peace, No Honor”.

Nixon never really intended to end the war. And one man turning over mountains of evidence he basically lucked into does not equate to people marching in the street.

Even when Ford took over in ’74 the Congress was funding secret bombings while publicly calling for a resumption of bombing in Vietnam.

It never really ended til Saigon fell.

And, again, I NEVER said everything would just work itself out. That is what you read into it.

We will be alright.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 28, 2011 @ 12:59 pm

Cher,

My own medicine? All I said was “we’ll be alright”.

That’s it. Sorry that wasn’t enough for you. Sorry you had to react that way.

Sorry I acted the way I did. It was beneath me.

Again, take my words however you want. But know that I do apologize for speaking to you in that way.

Whether I took offense to what you said or not, it was small of me to react in that way.

I am sorry.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 28, 2011 @ 12:38 pm

KT, I’m not saying things are great so let’s stop trying.

Never said that. I said “we’ll be alright.”

And we will. Because the people of this country are strong and they will fight.

Take my words however you want. We’ll be o.k. I believe in us.

Don’t know my history?

What do you think was happening when Nixon was removed from office?

The war wasn’t ending. Plans were on the table to expand it. This was well into the 70’s.

The Pentagon Papers ended the war. The war ended in 1975. The last big protest was 1971.

I know history. I love history, I write about it constantly.

These are just opinions my friend. I don’t know why mine are less worthy than others but that’s fine.

Disagree with me, tell me I may be wrong, but don’t tell me I don’t know anything. Don’t insult me. I know better than that.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 28, 2011 @ 12:31 pm

I thought it was no more dismissive than

“Sure, sweetie. Thanks for the insight. Now back to sleep with you.”

Are we calling the kettle black?

Just my opinions honey. Yours are no better than mine.

I should be telling you this,

If you don’t like them, don’t comment on them. Sweetie.

KT,

In the sense that the country won’t collapse just because we elect Republicans into office? Yes.

In the sense that the country has been worse off than this and persevered? Yes.

That everything is just peachy keen? No. But when has it ever?

This country has been a process from day one. We keep moving forward. And we will continue to.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 28, 2011 @ 11:52 am

We’ll be alright.

You don’t have to be afraid.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 28, 2011 @ 11:30 am

You’re welcome , Em! 🙂

We’re a strong country with a history of weathering far worse than this. We’ll be o.k.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 28, 2011 @ 11:29 am

I don’t think it would have mattered.

It’s never the protests that accomplish anything. If that were true the Vietnam war would have ended years earlier than it did.

Protests are only a part of it. I appreciate what they’re doing and I hope it’s enough. Normally terrible things have to happen to good people before change occurs.

But, I wish more people felt we were gonna be o.k. Instead of fighting over who is “taking the country back”. You never lost it. It’s always been ours. All of us.

And the American people are supremely moral, just people?

We just have to disagree on this one my friend. The system has always been weighted in our favor. But we fight amongst ourselves far too much.

We play into this in a big way. Id o understand though. We’re divided in a big way. By class, race, region, politics, religion, and so on.

And it’s so easy to manipulate that. But when do ewe start taking accountability for that? I know I keep saying it over and over again but “eternal vigilance”.

All those words the founders spoke have to mean something. They didn’t warn us against all these things invading us from the outside, they warned us to watch ourselves.

To not fall victim to it, and we did. I;m just as guilty as anyone else. We can’t just heap this on a system that we are ultimately responsible for.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 21, 2011 @ 2:39 pm

Seriously?

So part of the reason we’re in this mess, Hell a BIG reason we’re in this mess, is the greed and apathy of the American people

And we just say “not our problem?”. When the people stop setting the example for a democracy we’re all fucked.

Born This Way?

Exactly why would you have to defend homosexuality against pedophilia?

Pedophilia is a neurological disorder. Homosexuality is not.

They are by no means comparable. One is a mental defect that could possibly be treated.

The other is the total biological state of an organism. Something that no amount of drugs or therapy will ever “cure”.

Straight people or gay people can be pedophiles. It’s like comparing schizophrenia to being black.

I mean, if someone actually has to be told that there is a difference between pedophilia and homosexuality

Maybe we shouldn’t be validating their ideas with a rebuttal at all.

bito, I don’t get the “blind beggar” metaphor. Could you explain it? Steal from blind people?

» Posted By ADONAI On October 8, 2011 @ 6:13 pm

KT, All I’ve ever done is try to live. As far as helping, I’ve donated money, volunteered time at the employment center.

During the day I work and try not to become homeless and at night I just try to relax.

But I’ve already admitted I’m a fuck up. Way back in the original comment. I’m just saying that this is the difference between me and most of the people protesting. I admit it. I don’t blame my lot in life on politicians and the guy from Monopoly.

We went to war with England cause the rich didn’t want to pay taxes. How noble. We would have stayed in Vietnam and went to Cambodia if one man hadn’t lucked into a detailed list of our sins.

When will a woman make us much as a man for the same work? They’re a majority of the population but a minority in our government and workforce.

We are still buying and selling people. Many, many people have to die for us to enjoy the life we do. I am not and never will be proud of that.

America doesn’t think. If it did we wouldn’t be where we’re at right now. In this country’s whole history there has been one constant: the people.

We have failed. Not wall Street, not Obama, not Congress. Us.

What’s the end goal here? Wall Street gonna surrender? Politicians gonna all tha sudden realize they’re wrong?

No. Shit will just even out as it always does. The rich will get richer, the poor will get poorer, and enough of the middle will be content. That is the real history of this country.

How many miles? How far do they have to go? Falling back into the same patterns over and over again isn’t progress.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 8, 2011 @ 6:11 pm

KT,So it went from undeniable rights, to giving up rights, to anarchy.

No. I just want people to realize the truth. We are not a solution. We are a problem.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 7, 2011 @ 7:24 pm

We’ve needed help. No one helped us. Still know people who do. Many, many people. Nobody helping.

So they can stick that up their ass. You wanna guilt me? Where I’m from and what I’ve seen and had to endure you want to guilt ME?

THAT is why we fail.

» Posted By ADONAI On October 7, 2011 @ 7:23 pm

Why won’t Obama just say “I support gay marriage. I support equality for all our citizens”. But he won’t.

Now they can go die in the desert for a lie? Whoop-de-do.

We’ve never ever begun to fight for equality or freedom. Real freedom. There’s nothign to give up. Nothing has begun.

The problems in this country, this world, are bigger than our feeble solutions. Our temporary “gains”.

The human race is dying. People are being slaughtered, children are starving, and we’re arguing about oil subsidies.

Raising corporate tax rates gonna fix that? Fuck no. Small solutions for giant problems. Karma.
