If the Court finds the mandate unconstitutional, will they find it severable from the rest of the law? If not, that would strike the whole ACA down. If so, can the ACA survive?

While the pundits keep debating what really matters in the Republican debates and how Democrats supposedly feel about President Obama, OFA volunteers keep humming along and doing the work that's needed to reelect Obama.

It also helps that The White House has finally been succeeding in honing in on a strong economic message. Obama has had to figure out how to get past the obstructionist Congress to deliver his message directly to the American people. He's had to deliver his own message while also allowing Americans to realize who his Republican opponents really are.

The fraud of the Norquist no-taxes pledge has been publicly exploded now and as long as Dems don't overlook this opportunity, the entire raison d'etre for the Republican Party will be invalidated in the minds of most Americans.

Something interesting happened in 2007.  A little-known US Senator from Illinois cast his hat into the ring on a frosty day in Springfield,IL.  I watched that speech that day, and while I was moved by his words and passion, my own cynicism led me to mutter “good luck buddy” when he was finished, the deck was so stacked against him.
