Nominating and electing a 77 year old man who will be 81 years old when it's time for re-election is not long term thinking. In 2024, Republicans will have the anti-incumbent momentum and likely, a younger and more energetic candidate. As bad as things are now, they could be even worse under a Repub (Don Jr. or Ivanka?) in 2025.
Many media pundits struggle with object permanence when it comes to the normal, reoccurring process of primaries. Instead of a primary having trust falls and drum circles, the candidates are now actually criticizing each other so they can convince voters why they should be the nominee instead of any of the others. So they can run against Trump. Why is it so hard for them to see that 2 comes after 1?
Why is Bloomberg saying now that revealing his tremendously complicated taxes would reveal his, "secret sauce," the secret to how he made his fortune, when he has always said that it was an open secret?
For decades at a minimum, the core dogma of the GOP has been fascism, insisting that only Republicans are entitled to hold power and any elections that result in Democrats winning and people of color being empowered, are by definition, illegitimate or fraudulent.
In the current anti-Trump political environment, should Americans go for what they really want, or should they be content to defeat Trump and preserve/conserve the status quo that keeps the 99% in economic bondage?
Biden and Harris should keep their thoughts on this sequestered. His advisers, Democratic Leadership, well-regarded jurists, historians, and experts on the U.S. Constitution will need to study the issue. Biden has addressed the matter previously saying that that the idea of balancing a seriously imbalanced court by adding seats is a dangerous precedent.
Many of us have been waiting through a neverending and torturous four years for this day to finally come and as impossible as it may have seemed along the way, it's finally presidential Election Day! Of course, there are...
Many brave Democrats lost their seats in 2010 for voting for the ACA but in doing so, they saved and helped millions of Americans, past, present and future. What they did was noble and profound, they changed history for the better. Clearly, Manchin and Sinema are not cut from the same cloth but perhaps they can be leveraged to do the right thing and become reluctant heroes in the end despite themselves.
Trump's madman strategy to dominate debates at any cost actually opened up a huge vulnerability that Biden could exploit in the next debates. It's like in boxing, you may come in with a game plan but during the fight, if you see that your opponent keeps opening up himself to an uppercut, take advantage of it and throw an uppercut.
It's Night One of the 2nd Democratic debate and not only will there be so much for them to talk about, there will be so much for us to discuss about them! As usual, we are hosting a live chat to accompany the debate and both begin at 5:00pm PDT.
