Between the Democratic primary polls, the stock market and the Coronoavirus, we're being inundated with all kinds of numbers. So the theme of this weekend's music thread is taking a break from worrying about numbers and instead turning numbers...
The Trump Twitter scheme is a rigged con game from a con man. We can't win at it because the game is keeping the media and people chasing intentional lies each day, to control their behavior and their topics of discussion.
One of the most profound experiences of my life was the fall of the Berlin Wall. I was nine years old but could feel the change. I won't talk about the fall of the Berlin Wall (certainly not Hasselhoff), but to say the DDR was crumbling from within, and it was not Reagan.
To turn the page on this frantic leaping from distraction to distraction by Republicans because accepting reality is too painful for them, this weekend's music thread is for songs that tell stories (you can serve them with green eggs and ham if you like).
Trump has quadrillioned down on his lie that Alabama was in the path of Hurricane Dorian, showing that the more Dorian blew, the more Trump sucks. So this weekend's theme is for songs about states and cities in the U.S...even if they haven't been needlessly panicked yet by the BSer who cried wolf.
So this weekend's music thread is about infrastructure, songs about roads, streets and driving, planes and trains, phones, and anything connected to things built by society for society.
Join us this weekend in sharing songs about winning this most important election of our lifetimes! Songs about confidence, determination, fighting the good fight, taking down the bad guys, and even if it's a tad early, celebration.
On this MLK holiday weekend, our music thread is a tribute to this remarkable man, the principles he stood for and the vision he had and acted on to bring about a better world where people would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
