To celebrate the talented women who worked so hard to overcome the unfair and unrealistic requirements put upon them just to compete with men, this weekend's music thread is dedicated to women, songs about and by women.
In the first place it's not a rule, but a state of being. Of a society. But, moreover, it is the achievement of an acceptably stable and successful state of existence where the law is trusted and consulted. Where people "have faith" in law. Where a substantial majority believe in the virtues of living in a law-abiding society, and the responsibilities entailed. "The Rule of Law" is an achievement. Of a People.
Donald Trump is willing to destroy lives, and allow who knows how many unnecessary deaths, because to tell the truth, would end his presidency and destroy his chances for re-election.
Of the debates I have watched, I was not impressed. The message must be around how they will defeat Trump* restore and shore up our democratic process by making sure our election process is strongly resistant to foreign interference.
Between the Democratic primary polls, the stock market and the Coronoavirus, we're being inundated with all kinds of numbers. So the theme of this...
Trump has smashed through on all the established norms 44 other presidents followed. He’s told Congress, a co-equal branch, to go pound sand. With this decision, Roberts is not just nullifying the rule of law, by creating a broad and variable class of people who are not subject to it. He is altering the Constitution itself, by creating a new concept in the Law, that if a person is a member of a group that might conceivably be of interest to national security (every country in the world), then law does not apply.
Our electoral system in this country is shot full of holes. It is unstable, unreliable, and fragile. It is extremely vulnerable. It is unconstitutional because it is unfair.
In Montana, Republicans are characterizing better schools and hospitals as "socialist" and a Republican chairman in Montana has just enunciated that anyone who votes for a candidate that he deems to be Socialist should the murdered. He claims that the Constitution says so.
Revolution isn't a war. It is an agreement. Revolution can never come from above, from "governments." War almost always does. Revolution is the only option when government fails to represent the basic morality of a majority, or consensus, of the people. When it fails to be accountable, and responsible.
