Vox Populi, our Weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then! AdLib 3 hours ago

Hey twilson117 2 hours ago

Hey Ad twilson117 2 hours ago

Hey TW! AdLib 2 hours ago

Were you able to fix the post? AdLib 2 hours ago

Hold I have step out for a min. twilson117 2 hours ago

Ok! AdLib 2 hours ago

I’m back. twilson117 2 hours ago

Welcome back1 AdLib 2 hours ago

Sort of fixed the problem but not sure. May need you to take a look because the text is not lining up correctly. twilson117 2 hours ago

Did you see that Trump at the NRA bash did a Hunger Games naming of all the Uvalde victims, pronouncing their names wrong in some cases then danced! AdLib 2 hours ago

Sure, I will check it out and fix. AdLib 2 hours ago

I didn’t see Trump** the less I see of that orange blimp the better my health is. twilson117 2 hours ago

I didn’t watch it but there is a short clip on Twitter of his “fist dancing”. The NRA set this up where a bell was struck before each name, like Hunger Games. Then the moron danced! AdLib 2 hours ago

Let me know what I’m doing wrong when you check it out. I always assume it something I’m doing because the computer is only doing I what I tell it. At least as far as I know for the moment. When it starts talking back to me it when I get rid of it. twilson117 2 hours ago

Dancing on the graves of young kids and teachers, the sad enactment of his and the RW’s sociopathy. AdLib 2 hours ago

Trump** is a total asshole. twilson117 2 hours ago

My computer talks back to me in it’s own evil way, like crashing when I need to save a document. AdLib 2 hours ago

Do you think something will finally get done on gun control in Congress this time? AdLib 2 hours ago

Yes computers will do that. twilson117 2 hours ago

No I do not believe Republicans will do anything around gun control. twilson117 2 hours ago

One more thing regarding you checking things out since we have time difference call I call you after the session to get your assement? twilson117 2 hours ago

I think Dems should still try but I agree, nothing will get done. Moscow Mitch is using the same delay tactic he used after George Floyd when the nation supported police reform, “We’re exploring what we cvan do with Democrats”. That all proved to be nothing but a delay tactic to wait out lpeople’s attention to it then kill it. AdLib 2 hours ago

Sure, that’s fine, you can call me then. AdLib 2 hours ago

Oh I agree the Dems should push it and then drive like a rented mule and make the most of it. twilson117 2 hours ago

I have to say this thing in Texas has gotten to me just like Sandy Hook. twilson117 2 hours ago

And if Dems are fortunate enough to keep The House and end up with 52 seats in The Senate, they should end the filibuster and let the dam burst on all kinds of needed legislation. Not worry that when Repubs are in power, they will reverse it. If voting rights are fixed, Repubs won’t be back in power until they transform into a viable party with legit policy views. AdLib 2 hours ago

Same here, I remain very upset. The usual BS from the RW and NRA doesn’t seem to be sticking like it has in the past. I think the public is fed up and recognizes their cynical game…and this being an election years, they can actually do something about it. AdLib 2 hours ago

I believe the Dems can win the midterms if they run on this issue, the economy in spite of inflation, the soon to SC decision on abortion they just have to believe in themselves. twilson117 2 hours ago

I agree about the pub being feed up, but the question is and always will be can the Dems recognize that and use it. twilson117 2 hours ago

Hey any word on CL? How is she doing? twilson117 2 hours ago

Yes, the corrupt, theocratic SCOTUS is deatroying America just before an election, handing states ownership of pregnant women and about to rule that states and the people have no right to prevent gun nuts from open carrying in all states. This is insanity and the Dems should hammer that and the overthrow of democracy that Repubs are pursuing. If that’s not enough to win an election, this country is doomed. But I think it can and must bring a win for the Dems and the country thins Nov. AdLib 2 hours ago

I didn’t touch base wih her this week but last week she had mentioned she should have the glasses she needed to read the text in Vox. I will follow up with her. PPO is wrapped up in sailing lessons so don’t know when he may return. And don’t know where some of our other regulars are, I plan on reaching out to everyone this upcoming week to see if we can get a better turnout. AdLib 2 hours ago

I just started this book called White Too Long by Robert P Jones and it’s about how the SBC was a major player in supporting racism and pushing the replacement theory before it was called the replacement theory. This all starting prior to, and after the civil war well into the start of the Civil Rights movement. Haven’t gotten to far into it but I hope to finish it and use some of it for my I Hate Religion article. twilson117 2 hours ago

Very interesting. It seems to have been adopted by the Nazis as well. AdLib 2 hours ago

That’s good news about CL, and I can understand PPO focusing on sailing it is giving him something to do. twilson117 2 hours ago

Yes, I’m disappointed that they can’t be here but I understand. AdLib 2 hours ago

Yes, he mentions that the Nazis used some of their work. twilson117 2 hours ago

I image Murph is busy working on the campaign. twilson117 2 hours ago

Here’s Trump dancing after naming the murdered in TX: https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1530322212309200896?s=20&t=g380zFYoz6_o15VlF3p0Jw

Also, this is holiday weekend that officially kicks off summer. twilson117 2 hours ago

Oh God what a total waste of human flesh. twilson117 2 hours ago

Yes, Murph is likely busy with the campaign folks and his association. He may still show up if he has the time and energy. AdLib 2 hours ago

Indeed, Labor Day coming up and I’m finally diving in and buying a grill this weekend. AdLib 2 hours ago

Hope he can, but we can hold down the fort. twilson117 2 hours ago

Absolutely! I enjoy every permutation of Vox including when you and I have the chance to just chat with each other. AdLib 2 hours ago

Appreciate that. Hey how did you come up with the name Vox Populi? twilson117 2 hours ago

I read that the demand and usage of gas has plummeted and despite that, the opil companies are keeping the price artificially high. I have a feeling this phase for the oil companies is stubborn overpricing to squeeze all they can from consumers until electric cars fully take over. Our next car will be electric. We have solar panels and will be generating our own energy for that car, will feel fantastic to cut ourselves off from the oil companies. AdLib 2 hours ago

Vox Populi is an old Latin term for “The Voice of the People” and it is used here and there. I thought it was a cool moniker for our chat. AdLib 2 hours ago

The last time I filled up it cost me 84 bucks. It will last as I don’t do that much driving and I only go out if I have some errands to run. But I’m going to try to change that up a bit this summer if I can. twilson117 2 hours ago

I should have known that. Always wanted to learn Latin I would love to be able to cuss someone out in what is supposed to be a dead language, It makes what you’re saying sound so much sinister. twilson117 2 hours ago

Same here, around $80 per fillup and that covers us for about a week. $320 a month for gas? Putting that towards the payment of an electric car will put us in a profit. AdLib 2 hours ago

So are you considering a Tesla or Euclid? twilson117 2 hours ago

Same here, I always intended to learn Latin but didn’t though I do my best to memorize Latin terms and I recognize Latin roots in many words. AdLib 2 hours ago

Definitely not a Tesla, Musk is a narcissistic sociopath like Trump and I can’t justify putting a penny in his pocket. Besides that, Teslas are constantly being recalled for manufacturing problems. It is a crappy car in the end. Wanted one years ago but they used some BS in giving us payment estimates, rolling in the savings from not paying for gas and covering up the much higher monthly amount we would have to pay. Once I saw that crooked practice, I said no way to Tesla. Now that Musk has shown himself to be a RW nutjob, I feel even more adamant. Many other manufacturers of plug-in electric cars, including the majors, plenty to choose from that aren’t enriching a lunatic. AdLib 2 hours ago

Here is an interesting concept. I was debating with friend last night we were discussing the possibility of the Union falling about based on what is going on now. Our discussion led to us debating which of the states could sustain itself. He said Texas, I said I agree but not for long because still get a sizable amount money from the government and eventually the companies moving there would leave in spite of the tax breaks they got. twilson117 2 hours ago

Well that Euclid looks interesting, and they are made in your state I believe. But, there will be a lot to choose from soon. twilson117 2 hours ago

What do you think of Kellyanne Conway saying she told Trump** he lost and now he’s thrown her under the bus because of itt? twilson117 2 hours ago

Now that is a great discussion to have. In the first place, there is no mechanism in the Constitution to allow any state to secede. That’s why the Confederacy was not allowed to do so and incited the Civil War when it did. All the citizens in a state have the right to continue as US citizens, even a majority in a state has no right to take their rights away. Yet, simply by refusing to obey the Federal government, states would be seceding de facto. Texas is unsustainable if it was to be cut off from the US government. The billions in subsidies for oil companies and even more so, the billions from military bases and defense spending would quickly bankrupt an already corrupt economy in TX. CA and MA could be independent just fine, along with most states with major cities including NY. The South would implode since they receive far more in tax dollars than they contribute. Pafrt of me would like these Confederate states to secede, they are a drain on the progress and economies of the rest of the country but always remember, there are many good people and Dems in every Red state and many who couldn’t afford to move. AdLib 2 hours ago

Do you mean Lucid? AdLib 2 hours ago

Kellyanne is a detestable compulsive liar, if she was set on fire and burning on live TV and declared that she was on fire, I don’t know if I would believe her. AdLib 2 hours ago

How about the enormous lies of the cops in TX that have been exposed since they acted as cowards and let the kids and teachers be executed? And Beto standing up to Abbot and the blindingly white panel that held that press conference to lie to the public about how “brave” the police there were? AdLib an hour ago

Here’s a link to over 30 plugin and hybrid cars, plenty to choose from already without choosing a Tesla and as you say, many more to come. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/g15377500/plug-in-hybrid-car-suv-vehicles/ AdLib an hour ago

I see CA, NY being about to go it alone. Now MA, that’s interesting, we do have a lot of High Tech and Bio Tech. For some reason my friend believes strongly Texas could go it alone. But I believe he was basing that on what I indicated there are a lot of businesses moving their because the Gov is giving away the store the get them to sign on. But then he said Texas would annex New Mexico and just busted out laughing. twilson117 an hour ago

Yes I did me Lucid. Agree with you about Kellyanne. twilson117 an hour ago

Heh! All NM would have to do is have armed police at the border and TX invaders would fearfully wait there year after year. AdLib an hour ago

Most of those cars you’re looking are BMW’s with a Bently thrown in just to show off. twilson117 an hour ago

TX is heavily dependent on military spending and aerospace. Unplug that from the TX economy and oil subsidies and without an income tax, TX’s economy would crash hugely. Even income taxes wouldn’t fill the gap without strapping residents severely. TX would suffer if it became disconnected from the US government. And there are no other “rich” Republican states that could help it out…because FL would never do that. AdLib an hour ago

Well, when he said NM I laughed because we both have friend who move there some time ago. But then I mentioned they would start a war with Mexico and it would just like what Sinclar Lewis wrote in It Can’t Happen Here. twilson117 an hour ago

I grabbed that link quickly, I thought Car and Driver would be a bit more diverse. But that article aside, there are many plugin and hybrid choices out there to eliminate or minimize gas usage. Apparently, the average person doesn’t drive more than an average of 10 miles a day. Even hybrid cars wouldn’t need a lot of gas and all electric cars could knock that out so easily. AdLib an hour ago

I agree, TX likes to act like they could be self-sufficient because of their oil and gas and all the new industry they supposedly attracted. But, as you said the oil and gas subsides would dry out, the military would leave the bases and there would be an embargo placed on their oil and gas shipments. But it makes for an interesting discussion with my friend. twilson117 an hour ago

Texas can’t even defend school children from one armed person, I don’t see that they would be a threat to a state militia in NM. TX Repubs also don’t understand that people are going to be leaving TX anyway and less will be moving there. I can tell you that when we were looking for schools for my daughter, my only red line was that she not go to a school in a deep Red state. The combination of overt racism, growing gun proliferation and consigning pregnant women to being owned by the state along with rapists, made them not an option for me. After all of this madness is legalized by the corrupt SCOTUS, what parents in their right mind would send their daughter to a Red state? AdLib an hour ago

Oh and I also told him if we would no longer be the United States, which started another discussion. Because for me if one states succeeds it is the end of the union. twilson117 an hour ago

TW – Oh yes, I love that as a topic of discussion. What would happen if states could effectively secede, which could survive? I think it’s obvious though that the states without income taxes and heavily dependent on federal money would crash and burn. States like CA and NY do get a lot of Fed money but they send in far more tax money than they get back. If you cut out the poorer red states, Fed taxes could be cut in those Blue states and all would thrive including the US Govt. AdLib an hour ago

My argument however is that just as we don’t have wars declared as we once did, secession is happening, it’s just not being formally declared. TX seceded when it passed the vigilante law to end abortion, it ceased participating in the respecting of federal law and the Theocrat 5 in the SCOTUS said, “Works for us!”. States are in the midst of seceding now, limiting the civil rights of women, LGBTQ, teaching history, etc. The secession is happening now but in a soft launch and undeclared way. AdLib an hour ago

And I guarantee you, as the SCOTUS destroys our democracy and Constitution, CA, NY and other states will have soft secessions as well where they will cease to respect and follow decisions they see as unconstitutional and unacceptable. The RW doesn’t get it, this secession thing can be turned on them and take them down. AdLib an hour ago
