The whole world is upset, outraged and heartbroken (aside from Republicans) by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While we watch the cruelty and destruction Putin has unleashed on them, we have also seen Ukrainians come together, bravely and selflessly fighting against this onslaught on behalf of their people and nation.

So this weekend’s music thread is dedicated to the remarkable Ukrainian people who are showing the world what real heroes look like. We know they are in a frightening and life-threatening struggle and not trying to gloss over that at all by calling them heroes but we do want them to know that we are thinking of them, doing what we can to support them and looking on sympathetically, wondering if we could be as brave as they are if faced with the same danger.

Share your favorite songs about fighting, winning, being heroes or whatever songs you want to send to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine to show you support them.

Now it’s your turn to send your support to the people of Ukraine with songs of support and respect to let them know how much they are appreciated and in our thoughts.

Rammstein – al the band members are original, and any band member can veto a song to this day. For all the faults of East Germany, there were some values there.

My favorite anarcho-syndicalist Industrial German band: we’ve got the power!

I have no idea what TATU think, but Not Gonna Get Us is Appropriate. They made waves in Russia for lesbian themes in the early 2000’s. I’m putting them down as prolly not for Putin.

Pussy Riot, always the darlings of the Kremlin, have also denounced Putin – ….again.

Soooooo, like… um…. this band is like literally from Donetsk? And yes, have condemned Russia.

I deserve points, but not too many. It is a popular group among the youths even younger than I.
