glenn – Early returns are not meaningful, you never know if they’re mostly coming from Repub districts or Dem districts. That’s the key to assessing results. Which districts are in and which are outstanding.

And if Dems can spend resources on improving elections and voting in TX in the meantime, since TX rates 50th in percentage of eligible voters voting, the day that Dems win statewide again could be sooner than later. It doesn’t help to have voting machines that change votes from Dems to Repubs.

Yes, there are big racist populations even in MA and my state, CA. The difference is that they don’t represent as big of a percentage of voters here. However, in the midwest, they can be a bigger percentage.

What I’m observing though in this election is that the blue wave is happening but in certain areas in the country, not as much in Southern states (though in some districts in Southern states). Since Trump’s projected theme for the midterms was racism, it makes me think that the percentage of voters receptive to that is higher in states that aren’t demonstrating a blue wave.
