Please share your favorite tunes from your own “roots” or the ones you’ve encountered in your travels — actual or virtual.
I’ll start out with a couple:
The first is a bit of Irish humor. And you may learn a new word or two — of the four letter variety:
Here’s a pretty Russian folk tune:
Love these South African harmonies:
From our friends in Canada. If memory serves this is the very last song I heard before going deaf.
April Wine – Roller
Hey Smot, how have you been? Do you hear songs in your mind? I do all the time. A song comes to mind and then I can’t get it out of my head.
Good to see you here. We got Medical MJ for my wife and I tried it. Mess up time for me. Time stuttered. It would slow down and then jump ahead. Weird sensation.
Hope you have a great holiday season. Peace.
I’m plugging along best I can. I hear songs in my head all the damn time. I should have never watched The Lego Movie, that ear worm was stuck in my head forever!
How’s the wife doing with the MMJ? If you aren’t big on smoking it, a lot of patients prefer just making cannabutter and making up some cookies or brownies. A completely different type of effect for me, it’s a body buzz, for my dad it’s like snorting some cocaine…
Well my wife is using lozenges and what is called “wellness syrup” in tea. We also just got a vaporizer and a little pot to slow cook it in the vaporizer. She has not tried that yet. I got an ID card as her care taker so I can go to the dispensory alone and get the stuff. One of the conditions is we have to have a lock box to transport the stuff.
It seems to help her at least a little.
It may as well be another planet. Here’s a little something from a southern US band…

and, for obvious reasons!:
PPO, I’ve never heard the song “Dublin Can Be Heaven” before. It’s so sweet! Like those music hall tunes from the turn of the 19th-20th century.
And I loved the pictures of street scenes in Dublin — like a little tour of the town. Thanks so much!
You’re very welcome, Kes. ‘the Dublin Saunter”, its official title, was recorded by Dad in the 1950s. He never made a cent, but it has become the unofficial anthem of Dublin.
So that’s your Da singing there, is it? That makes it even better!

I was always very jealous of those “lederhosen” and drove my grandmother crazy to buy some for me. Never got a pair. 🙁

😆 😆 😆 LOVE the German slap dancing. Especially when the girl gets into the mix at the end!
Greensleaves has been a favorite of mine ever since I was so little that I didn’t even know the name of the tune.
And Sakura is so lovely too. You included all of your cultural roots there, Kalima!
Hey kes, the next time hubby has work in Europe, I’ll ask him to get two pair. We can start a group and name ourselves “The keskali Gals”, and travel the world slapping nasty and wayward politician across their empty heads. We can wear them with multi coloured striped tights. You in??
Oh, and I want one of those hats with the feather in too. You know me, in for a penny, in for a pound.
Absolutely! And the socks that aren’t really socks? You know — the ones with the big empty space between your calf and your ankle?
When it comes to head-slapping, can I have Dick Cheney? I want to hear his brains rattling like seeds in a dried gourd.
Oh right, and those socks. You can be first in line for the Cheney slapping.
Love your choices. I want in on the politician slap dancing!!
We may have get a Planetary troupe going here, SLM.
Thanks slm. Now my question is, how do you look in a lederhose?? Send pictures to either kes or me. We’ll call you. 😉
Pure talent …
His voice is so outstanding I think a lot of people forget what an incredible instrumentalist he was.
This one is for KT, my fellow lineman…
She was country when country wasn’t cool…
From Germany , I remember this song when I was there in early fifties.
You can just see rows of happy beer drinkers with their arms around each others’ shoulders swaying back and forth to that one, Nirek.
Kes, I was one of them! G’suffa( Bottoms Up!)!
Love this song…
Just good music…
Et voila!
Sung by an international singer about an international destination…
