Wow, another weekend has come to be. Time flies, and with the passage of time, comes great songs. Songs that are so good, that other artists often create their own versions. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, but I would say that emulation is even better.
This weekend’s music thread is about cover songs. There are some great covers out there, that are often as good as the originals. Of course, originals get the larger part of credit, but some artists can take a song and really make it their own, through various creative styles and performances.
So, think of some of your favorite cover songs and add them to this weekend’s thread. Any subject, any style.
Okay, KT, you made me really think of anything I could add here on a weekend when I am brain dead! So, I went through the files in my head and thought of Melissa Manchester. (Oh, let me tell you, when I was going through my divorce many years ago, Melissa and I got drunk together many nights!) Dionne Warwick is the only one that can really give a Burt Bacharach and Hal Davis song heart but Melissa does a good rendition “Walk On By”.
Oh, HELL, this song does not fit how I was feeling during my divorce! NO WAY! Whenever I saw him, I never walked, I ran like a Cheetah and up a tree! Okay, I just needed to clear that up……. 😉
Ha! Nice pick Sally. This one is what helped me get through my divorce (many, many years ago).
