On this Thanksgiving weekend, what else could the theme be for the music thread but expressing thanks?
Share the songs that express thanks to others and songs that have been there for you when you needed them.

Imelda May–Train Kept A Rollin;
Night all have a peaceful night
G’night, BFF! Time for me to call it a day, too. Almost 1:30 a.m. here! It’s been fun.
Kes, you created a monster with Imelda May! Sweet dreams!
Charles Mingus–Goodbye Pork Pie Hat;
Wow…amazing, KT.
Phoebe Snow–Poetry Man;

Maria Muldaur
My Tennessee Mountain Home
Both ladies are lovely but I think on this one I give it to Maria
Sue, I think Dolly Partin is a really under-rated talent. She is truly extraordinary, and a truly nice person to boot.
I can’t imagine how she’s able to play the guitar with those long nails, but she does well!
Kes
I saw her in Reno. My friend got tickets and I went with her. She was incredible,so entertaining. I have loved her ever since. I have the vinyl of Maria Muldaur and we play it all the time on a player I got my husband a few years ago.
Oh, Sue! I’d love to see her live. What a natural talent.
Isn’t it funny how hard it is to play vinyl now? I don’t even have a player anymore. And do they still even sell styluses? (Styli??) Kinda like trying to find a typewriter ribbon?
This one shows off what a genuinely brilliant jazz pianist Diana Krall is, too, besides having that remarkable husky-feminine voice:

Sly and the Family Stone
Thank You falettinme
Jinx!
You played it too? I owe you some cokes lol
OK, but it’s not necessary. You have good taste in music.
So do you, I think we all have a great variety of tastes here and I have learned of new artists from the people here.
KT they came from Vallejo one town over from where I now live. I saw them way back when at a place called the Steeple in Richmond Ca in the 60’s
The incredibly talented Diana Krall in what might just be the sexiest rendition of this song ever recorded! “Just The Way You Are”
A gal after my own heart. “Don’t go changin.” Words to live by!
Imelda may–Johnny Got A Boom Boom;
KT
She is really good. One of my favorite female artists
Sue, she is as hot as pistol. And I mean her singing talent as well as her smokin looks! 😉
I have no idea how this fits in to the Thanks theme for the weekend, but it’s the amazing Jeff Beck combined with the equally amazing Imelda May and they’re “Casting a Spell on You.”
Holy hell, I think I just fell in love.! 😉
Uh-oh! You might want to hold off on the Diana Krall one I just posted then, KT. You’ll be torn between two lovers! 😆
I don’t know, I think Imelda could wake up a dead man! 😉
I have a crush on her back up guitar man in “Cast a Spell,” and her bass player is phenomenal, especially on “Johnny Got a Boom Boom.”
Absolute agreement here. Just like Cassandra Wilson’s acoustic bass player. Shades of Charlie Mingus.
