Sometimes you just need to shake things up, order something different at your favorite restaurant, listen to new music, elect a guy named Barack president, etc.

So today’s music thread is about the start of the new and the end of the old, new ideas, new music, new horizons and new loves. And endings! Goodbye to the old and hello to something new!

Brand New Day – Sting

End of the Line – Traveling Wilburys

Changes – David Bowie

New Frontier – Donald Fagen

And the 21st century version, which I think Son House would have loved:

k’es, you may like this short about a little place in Chicago located at 2120 S. Michigan Ave.

And a little number recorded there by a bunch of kids.

Gotta love that, b’ito. The short made me want to make a pilgrimage to 2120 S. Michigan Ave.! There’s a place in a really rural part of NW Ohio called Hayne’s Farm that was a truly unlikely place for a hot blues club. But there it was. I was born too late to have seen it in it’s heyday, but our local PBS station did a documentary on it. Fascinating.

Once, about 15 or so years ago, we were on vacation and stop at a hotel (I think this may have been in TN). We got on the elevator and who was standing next to me but BB King!! I was speechless. Part of me wanted to do the “fan thing” and start gushing, but then I thought: “No, give the man his privacy,” and just smiled at him. Wow.

On the second vid: who ARE those little boys who look like they’re out of a Harry Potter movie? Are those our big, bad rock stars, the Stones?
