The Republican Cure For Everything…Tax Cuts!

How are dividends capital gains? On my tax return it’s right there on on line 9a.
Oh, I see… I must investigate “qualified dividends” on line 9b…
I apparently have the “little people” dividends.

I keep hearing how the rich pay less on dividends. I want to know how that works, because MY meager dividends (along with my pitiful savings account interest) gets taxed along with regular AGI… no separate cheaper tax rate.

Embracing Class Warfare

As for all this 50% pay no income taxes and segueing into unemployment benefits…
I just double-checked our tax returns for 2009 and 2010 when Mr.Justafarmer was on unemployment for the very first time in his life (he’s 55 now).
Guess what, you “R party of NO!”, unemployment benefits are federally (AND state here in Kentucky) TAXABLE!
gawd… I really hate these people…

yep, Colbert was great tonight!
The Word!

» Posted By justafarmer On September 20, 2011 @ 9:31 pm

ahh, ok. Most peeps I know here in far eastern Kentucky Appalachia with both working couples don’t make even close to $30,000. Me and spouse are fortunate in that MrJustafarmer got one of those non-existent stimulus jobs in October 2010 after being unemployed almost 2 years. The stimulus job paid pretty good, but there was no retirement other than SS and he’s 55 years old. Targeted by the Republicans to screw him out of his SS that he has been paying into for more than 40 years!
Starting next week, he’s back with an IBEW job and can kick in more to the IBEW retirement plan he is already in from years passed.
Union proud here!

BTW, AdLib, wanted to let you know that I soooo much enjoy my morning coffee when it’s served up on my PlanetPOV coffee mug!
It’s a fight with my husband when he’s home on weekends. I let him have the Obama “Made in the USA” mug.

American Dream, I’m actually seeing it here in the backwoods, backwaters of America.
We live so far away from major metropolitan areas… there’s a WalMart a 50 mile roundtrip away from me but I haven’t been there in years.
What has happened here in my little part of America is an explosion of entrepreneurship. It’s all small, no one expects to be a millionaire. We all just want to live relatively comfortably, which means we can put food on the table, have a (hopefully not leaking too much) roof over our heads, and have control over our lives without major stress.
And it keeps growing. I’m seeing more and more new tiny town businesses opening all the time. And I love it!

Thanks for the charts, AdLib! Sorry I’ve been MIA the last few months, but I managed to kill another PC and am still trying to get everything back.
And then I lost my hot water heater this weekend. The Republican crap NEVER ENDS! (Actually, I meant that as snark, but in my state, if we buy a new water heater we have to “allow” an electrical inspector into our home. That did NOT happen…)

Not sure how that chart makes $50,000 part of the top 10%. Looks like $67,280 is top 25% (and I dispute THAT).

But, but, but!!!
According to the UK Daily Mail, middle class is defined as $250,000 or less!

Wisconsin, what does it really mean?

oh my! You have nailed that! I occasionally visit the “darkside” conservative blogs and almost ALL of them are posting comments from WORK!
And they whine that they can’t watch podcasts AT WORK!

» Posted By justafarmer On February 20, 2011 @ 12:26 am

indeed. It’s easy to rush to an immediate reaction.
I actually had to read ghostrider’s post a couple of times to calm down before commenting. And I’m glad I did, because I realized ghostrider had a valid experience and it’s an experience that is honest.

I had the same initial experience with unions but got past it because back then (in my field) it was a good old boys thing and women were said to be taking jobs from men.
I fought back then and won.
And the fight obviously continues for ALL workers.

As a member of a union family, I am soooooo loving what is happening in Wisconsin!
And reading the reports that on Saturday, the Koch Brothers Tea Party protesters were 2,000 against 70-80,000 pro-union supporters in Madison made my heart sing!
BTW, one of the TP signs said something like “Sorry we’re late Gov. Walker, but we had to work”… good freakin grief! THEY have weekends off BECAUSE of unions, while many union members ( police, fire, nurses, healthcare workers, teachers, IBEW, road workers, etc.) actually DO work weekends!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of those union workers having weekends off during weather disasters, and I don’t recall hospitals and clinics closing for weekends, nor do I recall police stations, fire stations closing either.

Employment at Will…what does it mean?

here in Kentucky we have “employment at will” which means “your employer can fire you without good cause”.
the right wingers call this “right to work” much like the Kentucky legislature called it when they made it law here.

Sarah Palin Watch: The Death of Death Panels

hard as it is, it’s so much better to have these discussions beforehand, before the worst-case scenario happens when everyone’s emotions are on high alert.

» Posted By justafarmer On February 19, 2011 @ 10:24 pm

{{hugs}} to you, too.

» Posted By justafarmer On February 19, 2011 @ 10:23 pm

{{PocketWatch}}
THIS is exactly why we have to continue fighting this “death panel” nonsense!
When the first question is not your name, or what is the problem but is instead “what is your insurance?”, THAT is the real problem with so-called “death panels”.
If one has insurance, the patient will be kept alive no matter what as long as the insurance holds out, UNLESS there are advanced directives in place.

oh, what I messed up was somehow excluding credit to my co-authors (huge mea culpas from me about that!)

» Posted By justafarmer On February 19, 2011 @ 10:17 pm

I see that I messed up part of the post & I’ll see if I can fix it.
This post originally appeared at the blog politicalgates (unclickable link at the end of this post), and I was one of three authors of that post; the other two are “Joe Christmas” and “Cheeriogirl”. I am the third author, aka “sleuth” and am the retired EMT who provided the anecdote.

I was HuffPo for years, with this same name.
HuffPo got insane long before the AOL buyout.
I have NO idea who these “moderators” are at HP but they are just stoopid.
just sayin…
