But I admit that I have only voted for a Republican once – Symington when he ran against Eddie Basha, and I forget the reasons now, but alas, Symington was impeached! LOL Arizona does have quite the history of impeaching governors and/or ending up with governors as we have now with Jan Brewer, who was not elected but took over once Napolitano left to head Homeland Security. We don’t have a lieutenant governor here, like some states, so we often have an elected Republican governor or elected Democrat that is replaced with a member from the other party. Remember Evan Mecham? I do not believe any of the crap spewed by the MSM about the upcoming November elections. It will be the economy and jobs that drives it come November, imho, and the Independents will not vote for extremism, especially after seeing what’s happening in Arizona, Oklahoma, and other states. Sounds good in theory, but well, I guess this is off topic. 6 corporations own our news media and they’re all fair and balanced, right? My husband and I have given up. But we’re older and tired. It’s awful hard to go up against FOX and the other corporate media. There is no such thing as the ‘Liberal Media’, and even Warren Buffet, who we both adored, has turned into a corporate whore. Shame on us, for not seeing it earlier. My husband is not into blogging and never reads the news, and only knows what’s going on from me and from my blogging and reading the Net. That’s not exactly true, but it is for the most part. I’m taking my husband’s outlook now, because this morning we talked about it all. He asked me – ‘Why follow the news, when you know how you’re going to vote anyway?’ We cannot stop what is happening, and this is my opinion and being an Arizonan, is that this country is going to go extreme right-wing. I actually want it to happen, in the hopes that my neighbors, who never go to church, and my elderly friend that loves Bill O’Reilly because he’s a Catholic, that they see and wake up because what the Tea Party and extreme right wing wants, is not what they can accept. The corporations are behind it all, and I truly believe that they will put an end to it all once it takes away from the bottom line. But I like to imagine my very good elderly friend that believes being Catholic is the only way to reach heaven – I cannot wait for her to see that she must be BORN AGAIN and an evangelical. There’s a talk show in Britain and for the life of me I cannot remember the name, but Dawn French was on it and then George Clooney was a guest up next. She wouldn’t leave until George Clooney came on, and she was teasing how much he wanted her and she would give in and allow him to kiss her. George Clooney walked out and placed his finger at her chin and raised her head and kissed her, and it was a mighty long kiss – and then Dawn French said to him, ‘You wish’ and then dared him to do it again, and then he did! It was hilarious, and showed that George Clooney has class, imho. I am a huge fan of George Clooney, because he reminds me of my father, in the shit-eating grin and twinkling eyes, and does that mean that I have an Oedipus thing going on? Well, to make that shit even better, is that my husband reminds me at times of my father, and even when my mother was alive, she said it, too. The thing when it comes to movies made in Europe, whether they be British or French or German, is that the endings most times leave you hanging. There are some excellent movies though that do have an ending, even if the ending is the second movie. I love film and I love television series when they are well done. Ted and am laughing just thinking about it. I can’t do the youtubes thing on this, but “Keeping Up Appearances” is another good one. When it comes to shows that are not a comedy is “Monarch of the Glen”, even though that is a comedy, too, but with a serious side and the backdrop is absolutely beautiful. I love “Foyle’s War”, and “Wallendar”, and “Hercules Poirot”, and all of the “Miss Marple”, and “Rosemary and Thyme” – I think that was the name – and then there’s the “Darlings of May”, which is another favorite and one of the very first acting roles for Catherine Zeta-Jones – that was an excellent and hilarious series. I wish that I could embed all these, but the youtubes crashed me already and I’m trying to hang in here. OH! France had one – it was only 15 minutes long without commercials – something to do with a tea break and I think that’s a play-off from the British version of the Office. That was hilarious and you didn’t even need to understand French! French TV didn’t do commercials like we do here – they’d run shows and then they’d have public announcements and they’d be 30 minutes long but they get a full 90 minutes of commercial-free TV. Plus, in France, their version of PBS was part of the deal whereby they charged taxes on televisions and it was part of your taxes and not volunteer programming for people like you. I miss it all. I believe that the majority of Americans are turned off by the Tea Party and the right-wing extremism, but that does not mean that Tea Party people will not win in the short-term before November.
They seem to keep each other more honest that way, but with the way the GOP is now being the Party of NO, we have changed our minds this time.
We’re older now and retired, and really, nothing will actually affect us, even though we know that it affects us all.
We did the 60’s thing – my husband more than I – in protesting and actually going to jail and being beaten by cops.
My husband has been there and done that and he’s tired.
Cousins, basically, and they send me the emails with titles of CHILLING and it’s all about Obama being a Muslim and he is turning our country into a Socialist nation and a non-Christian nation.
Just sick of it all.
