She has a B.A.ED. and M.A.ED.. She has been teaching in a low income, “under privileged” environment for 3/4 of this time. Why? Because she has a conscience and believes these kids deserve the same, if not more, than their wealthy counterparts. If you have not had your kid call, crying, wishing she/he could have done more for a neglected or abused student, then you are fortunate. However, as a parent of a deeply dedicated educator, I suggest most are not getting the message. Oh, the real stories I wish I could share; all real, with no fluff involved. Honestly? I don’t think anyone has a clue about what an educator faces on a daily basis. Examples from Kindergartners ( 5 years old mind you): Mrs. X? “My dad left last night to be with another woman. What’s going to happen to me and my mom?” Mrs. X? “Our house burned down over the weekend and we’re staying in a hotel.” Mrs. X? “My mom/dad hit me last night because she/he was drinking.” Anyone, anyone who doesn’t understand the perils. sacrifices, and dedication of a public educator, really needs therapy. Charles and David Koch are conservative titans of industry who have infamously used their vast wealth to undermine President Obama and fight legislation they detest, such as the cap-and-trade climate bill, the health care reform act, and the economic stimulus package. For years, the billionaires have made extensive political donations to Republican candidates across the country and have provided millions of dollars to astroturf right-wing organizations.
