That word “takfiris” I have only heard used by reporters living in Pakistan. they were all trying to explain their disgust of the “common folk” of their veiw of the taliban. Odd, you never here that word from the talking heads. lol

Respecting Cry-Babies

I do not pretend to know the answer, but I do worry about whom will pay the collectors, reporters of the news. My local paper just dropped McClatchy News service and they have had to curtail some of their international offices. It is an all AP paper.

Kalima, Good morning! While I have as much sympathy for Murdoch and his NewsCorp as I do for Bernie “Made-off” complaints about his shackles being too tight, I do worry about groups that aggregate the news. Sites that charge their advertisers based on their “clicks” and do not share their reveune with the actual people that do the fact gathering is having a detrimental affect on their news gathering. Do sites like HuffPo help defray the costs of actually having a staff in Iraq,London,Tokyo….? Where will our “news come from when the reporters are gone? Will the web be left with only Facebook accounts of their dog peeing? How is it possible to write an informed opinion without some basis of facts? (Goodness, I am agreeing with “Pox Snooze 🙂 )

Hello all, just logging in for the day. One of those days.
Someone help me with this and who said it. At one time a Rep was accused of taking too much money from the lobbyists and he stated:
A Rep worth his salt will smoke their cigars, take their money, drink their best whiskey and screw their “women”. Then vote against them!
I believe it was during the 50’s.

The filibuster is covered under “Senate Rule 22”. I Will have to do a search on when it was first imposed. “The Nation” had a good article on it a while ago. As far as your objection with the Senate, that was the “grand compromise” of the convention. Blame Madison. The very word “Democracy” cannot be found in the constitution.The word “republic is used. Fair, unfair? I would hate to see a reopening of the Constitution when most people believe that the “Bill of Rights”need to be changed.
