Coalition of Church and State Revisited: Office of Faith Based Iniatives

KQ
The problem is they are not feeding the poor, they were funding Abstinance programs, Pregnancy Centers, Christian drug treatment programs. If it was all about food and sustenance for the poor, I would not be against it in the least.

I agree, my only worry is if a religious right/any of the republican candidates get hold of it again. It will once again only be available to evangelicals with a small portion for appearances going to other religious groups.

My only problem is when and if the right gets hold of it again. I trust Obama to manage it properly, no one on the religious right do I trust lol

I do not understand their motives (firebaggers et al). My only conclusion is they have to be just as ignorant as the rightwing they claim possess those traits. Or perhaps they just don’t understand that a president is for all the people, not certain interest groups. Perhaps they really are closet republicans?

Personally I do not agree with this government office because it can very easily be returned to it’s previous status with the stroke of a pen from another president who may even take it further. It also gives republicans and blue dogs fodder for their constant attacks on social safety nets. In a way, Obama may have played into their hands by requiring accountability, resulting in statistics that do not really represent the country as a whole. Feel free to talk me down, sometimes I get to hyped up by these religious freaks.

Philip over at HP was right. He kept saying the amount was 16 trillion and people made fun of him. Everytime they did, I would favorite him lol.

Wow todaywas a blockbuster, good work. I still have not gotten through it all.

The Bloomberg article was a great find. I copied it and will read at my leisure but I got through half of it here. I pretty much suspected as much but with info in so many places it is hard to pinpoint the magnitude of the bailout. Henry Paulson and George Bush need to answer to this. I read Paulson’s whitewash book on the subject and despise him even more than I did before lol

Debunking Spin on “The Map”

How did you come to those conclusions on the maps? Was it supposition on your part deciding each state, blue or red?

A Thanksgiving Tradition – 2011

Planeteers

Actually I am grateful for a now defunct progressive site like Huffpo where I got my start commenting to blogs and that eventually led me here to a truly progressive site.

I am thankful for family, friends and the life I have been able to live, free from “group think”. I am grateful for the opportunity to come back home once again, this time to stay, but I am also grateful for the opportunity I have had to live in other places. I have carried with me a great many friends from all those places and now, from The Planet.

I am grateful for all those who speak out for social justice and free choice. I am grateful for all those who are willing to help others, to take a stand against injustice and the fact that I am not a Republican. Somehow I don’t think I would have ever fit their tight requirements.

I am thankful I have a husband and children who know and understand me and still loves me even though I hate to cook.

I cannot even begin to understand the work it takes to keep a site like this up and running and to Adlib, Kalima, KQ and Bito please accept my undying gratitude for taking on that work.

Happy Thanksgiving to all here at the Planet.

What Republicans Are Thankful For

E’cat

When I was pregnant with my daughter I went to the doc and he induced labor but sent me home and said if contractions start, to come back to the hospital. I laid around watching a Brady Bunch marathon until about 5 then called the hospital. The nurse asked me how long I had been having contractions and I said early afternoon, she scolded me for not coming in right away. Hell my daughter was not born until 5:30 the next morning.

Read this whole paragraph about Porter Ricks in real life lol

Brian Kelly(Porter Ricks) married actress Laura Devon in 1962. They were divorced in 1966. He married Valerie Ann Romero in 1972, with whom he had a daughter Hallie in 1975 and a son Devin “DJ Adlib” in 1980. Kelly died in February 2005 of pneumonia in Voorhees, New Jersey, two days before his 74th birthday.

That was wonderful, They call him Flipper, Flipper faster than lightening, no one you see, is smarter than he and we know Flipper lives in a world full of wonder, flying there yonder, under the sea.

For Adlib a little tidbit:

He married Valerie Ann Romero in 1972, with whom he had a daughter Hallie in 1975 and a son Devin “DJ Adlib” in 1980.
