Displaying 631 To 660 Of 4,640 Comments AdLib, I am sorry to say that I am not surprised by this. This would be a prefect website for a man like this to prowl for easy victims. After all, the advertisement says that God is matching you, why wouldn’t you feel safe? If they are silly enough to believe that, they are not thinking wisely and opening themselves up for the danger of such evil as this man. » Posted By SallyT On February 19, 2013 @ 2:53 pm Nirek, we are all lucky to have Bernie Sanders in the Senate! He works very hard not just for Vermont but for all the rest of us, too. » Posted By SallyT On February 16, 2013 @ 10:10 pm Oh Glenn, I am sorry you took such a hit but I am not sorry for Rubio. He is so stupid to have said that. He didn’t think anyone would look it up? Shows how dumb he is and thirsty! His mouth probably was going dry with all the lies he was telling. (Glenn, there are lots of cartoons on that! Be ready!) » Posted By SallyT On February 14, 2013 @ 9:08 pm Nirek, that is it, vindictive! Remember, the watered down filibuster reform deal Reid agreed to was at least partly premised on the idea that both sides were at least somewhat committed to ending some of the abuses that rendered the Senate dysfunctional during Obama’s first term. Now the Republicans are using the filibuster where it has never been used before! “There are serious consequences to this delay,” Reid said from the Senate floor this morning. “It’s shocking that my Republican colleagues would leave the nation without a fully empowered secretary of defense during all the things we have going on in the world.” “Chuck Hagel had nothing to do with the attack in Benghazi,” Reid lamented on the floor of the Senate. Nothing has changed with these jerks and nothing will unless the jerks are voted out! » Posted By SallyT On February 14, 2013 @ 3:33 pm HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO ALL MY FRIENDS ON THE PLANET! Wishing you a day of love, happiness, friendship, and smiles with laughter! 🙂 » Posted By SallyT On February 14, 2013 @ 1:50 pm Hey, Glenn, I just saw on Rachel Maddow that listing for Rubio’s house that is for sale, the one I found last night during his speech. His speech about living in that middle class neighborhood he grew up in. That simple middle class neighborhood where his house is for sale for over $600,000. (And, remember that the housing market is down in FL, so, how much was it worth prior??) That simple middle class neighborhood he is moving from. Anyway, I just wanted to brag a little that I broke that story first here on our live blog during his speech!!!! 🙂 » Posted By SallyT On February 13, 2013 @ 6:42 pm Celebs, enviros arrested at WH pipeline protest Celebrities and environmental activists, including lawyer Robert F. Anyway, the GOP is making a new push on the Balanced Budget Amendment, a drive that’s almost certainly going to end in failure. It will not pass. But beyond that, it will likely be covered as though it’s just a debate about two different sets of values (big vs. small government, or whatever) rather than a debate about whether or not we want to hit the Constitutional Self Destruct Button. » Posted By SallyT On February 13, 2013 @ 3:31 pm LOL Well, I have seen pictures he has done of his dog, Barney, and they are not bad. Poor Barney….. » Posted By SallyT On February 11, 2013 @ 8:09 pm As I was going through the cartoons for this coming Sunday, I came across one of President Bush painting in the bathtub. I thought, “Where the hell is this coming from?” I started looking for the story that made the cartoonist create it. So the rest of you can be informed so you can see how funny this cartoon really is, and it is, here the story behind the cartoon: Looking for clues in the secret art work of George W. Bush When hackers broke into former President George W. Bush’s email last week, they found photographs of unfinished self portraits of the former president in the shower and the bath tub. Read the whole article as it is interesting how the paintings are interpreted. And, the following link has a copy of two of the paintings. Don’t be scared to look as there is no frontal nudity! George Bush Paints (Himself in a Shower) So, let’s assume for a moment that these photos of some paintings were actually painted by George W. Bush, former president of the United States. http://www.bendsource.com/Bent/archives/2013/02/09/george-bush-paints-himself-in-a-shower Needless to say, the Secret Service is after the hacker. » Posted By SallyT On February 11, 2013 @ 7:18 pm In this weeks Sunday Funnies was a cartoon of an old veteran telling a story about a battle he was in that cost them 22 soldiers lives. And, also noted is that we lose that same number everyday of our service men/women with suicides. It wasn’t a funny cartoon but one of factual information that needs to be stressed. This is the longest military action that our service people have ever been forced to serve. Coming out of this term of service is a test we have not experienced before. They have served longer in battle but still not long enough to get their pension as that requires 20 years. There will be troubled souls and many needs that we must be prepared to give and understand. » Posted By SallyT On February 11, 2013 @ 6:13 pm Kes, this man is a military machine created by the system. He is trained by the military thus knows how they operate and he has been trained by the police that gives him all their knowledge. His training was of high caliber that included survivor training of the highest magnitude. He is not a stupid person but intelligent. He had to be to receive this training. He is troubled because he no longer can pull back when he feels he has a mission. I, too, am not defending him. But, do we have some responsibility in caring for these machines once we are done with them? » Posted By SallyT On February 11, 2013 @ 3:09 pm “Ashley thanks Senator McConnell, Karl Rove, and their negative allies for all the attention as she considers her future political plans, although a decision hasn’t been made yet,” her publicist said in a statement to E! News on Judd’s behalf. Here is the ad Rove is running against her: » Posted By SallyT On February 6, 2013 @ 8:28 pm AdLib, I saw where she is just 2 points behind him right now. That is making them spend money so early against her. She has them scared evidently. I have watched her over the years primarily because she looks like a friend of mine. She is very concerned about the poor and education. That is certainly something that those in Kentucky should hope someone was concerned for. It would be very hard to beat McConnell in that state but I think it is great that they are scared so early! » Posted By SallyT On February 6, 2013 @ 8:22 pm I love it that Karl Rove’s pac is already spending money to campaign against Ashley Judd and she hasn’t even said she is running against McConnell! I don’t care if she runs or not, she has them running! But, I will say this, Ashley Judd is a good humanitarian. Ashley Judd’s humanitarian work has revolved around becoming a global ambassador for YouthAIDS, a prevention program under the Population Services International. She has been a member of their Board of Directors since 2004. For that cause she travelled to places affected by illness and poverty such as Cambodia, Kenya, Rwanda, and many others. This has given her witness to the life of the poor and uneducated. She has since become an advocate for preventing poverty and promoting awareness internationally. She has met with political and religious leaders, heads of states, diplomats, and leaders on behalf of the deprived to convey the message to those who have the power to bring about political and social change. In 2011, Judd joined the Leadership Council of the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW). » Posted By SallyT On February 6, 2013 @ 7:59 pm He never gets old! But, I have to make a comment to all those gun lovers out there that think they need them to protect themselves from the the government……did you see how they got one guy? And, you think you can stand off the government if they want you?? That is a stupid reason to have guns! Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.” Excuse me, I need to throw up………. Palin’s relationship with FOX appeared to take several rocky turns. In a Facebook post during the Republican convention last August, for instance, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee lamented that the news channel had “cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight.” A spokesperson for FOX did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In his Crystal Ball newsletter today, political handicapper Larry Sabato described the plan — which would make it so electoral votes in key swing states were apportioned by congressional districts — as “a truly rotten one” that would “undermine democracy.” The plan — which gained traction in the Virginia state legislature this week — would heavily favor Republican presidential candidates. Way to go, Hilary!! » Posted By SallyT On January 23, 2013 @ 7:33 pmComments Posted By SallyT
“This isn’t high school getting ready for a football game or some play that’s being produced at high school,” Reid said. “We’re trying to confirm somebody to run the defenses of our country, the military of our country.”
Sierra Club executive director Michael Brune also was arrested — the first time in the group’s 120-year history that a club leader was arrested in an act of civil disobedience.
Activist Bill McKibben, actress Daryl Hannah and NASA climate scientist James Hansen also were arrested, along with more than 40 others. They were charged with failure to disperse and obey lawful orders, and released on $100 bond each.
The protesters are demanding that President Barack Obama reject the pipeline, which they say would carry “dirty oil” that contributes to global warming. They also worry about a spill.
In an interview before his arrest, Brune said civil disobedience was justified because of the threat posed by tar sands oil, which is difficult to produce and emits significantly more greenhouse gases than conventional oil. The Sierra Club is the nation’s oldest and largest environmental group and generally shies away from extreme tactics.
The President loves to blame the debt on President Bush. But President Obama created more debt in four years than his predecessor did in eight. The real cause of our debt is that our government has been spending 1 trillion dollars more than it takes in every year. That’s why we need a balanced budget amendment.
The weird thing about this line is that it’s a call to enact an amendment which would destroy the economy. What’s even weirder is that hardly anyone cared that a politician would call for it on live TV
Just the upcoming “sequester” (which doesn’t come anywhere close to “balancing the budget”) is expected to cost 750,000 jobs this year. Beyond that, if we actually tried getting the deficit to zero, which is what a balanced budget amendment would require, we’d never get there, because the ensuing GDP contraction, would devastate the economy and cause tax revenues to shrivel.
The futility of austerity as a means of deficit reduction has recently been shown in Europe, where a continent obsesses with austerity continues to miss deficit targets.
When the government “saves” more, the private sector saves less. When the government saves less, the private sector can save more. It’s precisely the leveraging of the government sector in recent years that has enabled households to pay down debt.
A world where the government is unable to go into deficits is a world where the private sector is unable to save — a situation that would result in economic catastrophe.
So why the meh reaction to Rubio? Basically because on deficit and spending issues, almost everyone who covers Washington has swallowed one view of the debate hook, line and sinker.
That’s why a mainstream guy like Joe Scarborough can say that nobody agrees with Paul Krugman on the deficit — a statement that is provably false. It’s also why George Will, when advocating a Balanced Budget Amendment, can state that the only good counterarguments are that it won’t work very well, or that it might result in tax increases. As if those were the only good counter-arguments!
Remember when he went with President Clinton down to Haiti and after touching the people he wiped his hand on the back of Clinton’s shirt? (Of course, many said that wasn’t what he did but……)
I think his artwork only confirms what we already know, the guy is weird! But, I am glad that he is staying out of the public and coloring at home. Try to stay in the lines, Bushy!
Bush apparently sent the photos to his sister, and though they were never intended for public view, the art critics have already weighed in. A president never known for self-introspection, the find has many looking for clues into what the once most powerful man in the world thinks about himself and his record.

Yes, in that case… Um. How do we say this? We’re gonna go with—These are fucking weird.
You go girl!! Make them spend money! And, remember this, Ms. Judd, Rove’s pac lost 7 of the 8 state races that they were paying ads for.
Other organizations Judd has been involved with include the Women for Women International, and Equality Now, along with other non-governmental organizations which center around bringing attention to social, educational, health, economic, cultural, and financial funding of the unfortunate.
And, she supported foundations such as: Children’s Medical Research Institute, Defenders of Wildlife, Malaria No More, San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center and others.
I would think in Kentucky she would be a great representative for that state’s needs.
