Instead of Blaming the President, Why Not Learn Some English?

I may be mistaken but I don’t think Ann Curry ever asked the question, “What would you do, Mr. President?” I heard the President volunteer what he would do in giving his opinion on Weiner and the situation. Of course the President is entitled to his opinion and I did not hear him say that anyone should follow it. But, in honesty, do we actual know how we would react in a situation someone else is experiencing? I mean, we are on the outside and not actually dealing with the pain or know the willingness of that person to handle it and face the obstacles. Sometimes we can surprise ourselves and handle something we never thought we could but when we have to, we find strength we never knew we had. And, sometimes when giving our answer to the person in that situation, we might give them an answer that we think would be the easiest for them to handle. I think the President gave the answer that he felt and also, he gave an answer that he thought might be easiest for the Party to handle. Nothing wrong with that. But, it is Mr. Weiner’s decision to make and what I’ve seen of him, he doesn’t walk away from a fight. However, he might find himself feeling a different way about himself with a wife pregnant with his first child. You just never know for sure.

Hey, Khirad, I’m old but I don’t go back as far as lynchings! Oh, I take that back, there were lynchings in the 50’s and 60’s by rasist aholes in the south. But, hey, I was a Hippie before it was hippity hop. They felt about our music in many of the same ways. We just didn’t have the music videos to put so much in your face. I mean they wouldn’t show Elvis below the waist on TV. Let alone making the Stones and the Doors alter their lyrics on the Ed Sullivan Show. (Although Jim Morrison didn’t) But, we did make some good music in my day. Will you give me that much?

Khirad, is that the real name of that picture? I have never seen that before. Also, Khirad, Bram Stoker is a good example along with Mary Shelly, Edgar Allen Poe, and many others. But, why not include the Bible? There is all kinds of violence in it.

Exactly! You know I was kidding, right? Would you believe that I have neighbors that clean up after their dog and leave the plastic bag on our sidewalk. Nice. Not. I guess I should take it to their house and light it on fire on their doorstep and yell, “FIRE!” Won’t work, its plastic. They never ask, “Paper or plastic?” before leaving it.

Killgore, in 1965 or was it 1966, anyway, the year it came out I was 15/16 years old girl that just heard it as a jealous boyfriend saying he would break up with her if he caught her with another guy. I didn’t hear “killing” either. But, in those days, Killgore, we didn’t have music videos showing how we should hear it or give us ideas that we might never have thought of. We had to use our own imagination. Of course, I was much more innocent then. And, they didn’t put as much in your face in those days.

But, it’s the BEATLES! I love that song. I just thought it was about a jealous boyfriend saying it was the end (breaking up) if he caught her with another guy. I guess he could have shot her, too. But, that is what John gets for listening to an Elvis song, “Baby, Let’s Play House”. I think one of the lines in that song is “I’d rather see you dead little girl, than to be with another man.”

Audadvnc, okay, I never would have watched this on my own but since you gave the link, I did. I can see where WTS has a problem with it and I can see how you see it. I don’t know if it about dead white girls as there was black girls, too. In the bed was white and black. Anyway, from an old white lady’s point of view, I didn’t get it at all. But, in all honesty, I haven’t got this music for years. With age, I hear a lot slower and I can’t follow the lyrics. If it is art, I would have to file it with other art works I don’t get, like Picasso depicting women with 6 boobs and limbs all distorted. Music, well, I like more actual music and lyrics that repeat in the chorus. However, I know that the more you make of it, the more popular it will get. Youtube has over 3 million hits so far. Like you said Audadvnc, there are many things out there depicting violence besides the music. And, WTS, I saw that guy at the VMA Awards and thought he was a Jerk/asshole. The video doesn’t change my opinion either way. I just have to tell you that I am sitting here laughing because WTS and Audadvnc got me to watch this “thing”!

A Viewers Guide to Tonight’s GOP Debate in NH

AdLib, I watched only a small portion of the actual debate and I liked yours better. Bachmann still has a problem with looking directly into the camera but her makeup person is better than the last one. Personally, I want the debate between her and Palin. I would love to see a good cat fight (and I ain’t even a guy!). I didn’t hear anything new out of any of them. Didn’t hear any tell how they would actual improve or change things. I think the field will have to clear some before anyone contributes anything you might care to listen to.

Back in the big studio days, even the celebrities were under control and the media bought. There was the Hepburn/Tracy affair never put out to the public, along with Gable/Lombard and actress adopting babies that really were their own. Easier to keep things under wraps and control. Was that better? People are more open and out there now with many things that no one use to even talk about in mix company. Opinions and judgements need to adjust to the times. But, poor judgement on ones own part will probably never go out of style. You always have to think first and if you don’t, you only have yourself to blame.

Choicelady, I have the Jelly glasses from my youth and my “older” sister. I don’t know if you remember but they use to put stripped towels in laundry detergent. Oh, and have pillow cases of my mother’s made from flour sacks. Thanks for bringing those memories up in my mind today.

Wow, Choicelady, you said it so much better. That was the point I was trying to make but no way as good as you. The small business do raise their voices sometimes, like I said about our neighborhood’s fight to keep HomeDepot out.
“Wal-Mart displaces local small businesses, it also typically reduces income and employment for local business — service providers, such as lawyers, bankers, accountants, printers, and newspaper publishers, since those services are centralized in Wal-Mart headquarters. Weakening small-business and professional networks further diminishes the community’s social capital, according to economists Stephan Goetz and Anil Rupasingha.
Wal-Mart has also quite likely reduced U.S. employment throughout its extensive supply chain, despite suppliers’ expectation that they would hire more people as Wal-Mart sold more of their product. But there are stories, well documented by Fishman and others, of Wal-Mart’s virtual dismantling of iconic supplier firms such as Huffy (bicycles), Master Lock (padlocks), Lakewood Engineering & Manufacturing (fans), and L.R. Nelson (lawn sprinklers).
In each case, Wal-Mart kept demanding a lower price, at times challenging suppliers to match the price of cheap imports. The companies improved productivity, cut corners on quality, and pressured their own employees and suppliers (who in turn tightened the screws on down the line). But eventually, Wal-Mart pushed these suppliers out of the country to China, Mexico, and any other place that could match “the China price.”
