Time Out for OT – Vol 9

Did anybody catch Rachel last night? We don’t subscribe to MSNBC so I watch her show on the ‘puter as I eat lunch!

She did an hilarious gotcha over the ‘lying about military service’ brouhaha and Senator Orrin Hatch’s proposal to make it a misdemeanor

Time Out for OT – Vol 8

I’ve been meaning to post this link for a while and never got around to it but Bluestatesman’s post on the loss of a friend has reminded me.

I will not presume to start a page for the Planet but, should anyone want to do so, this is a great place for private and group grieving, prayers, good thoughts

How disheartening that Jackie Robinson could write that today and only the names would change πŸ™

This site – EU Times – seems to be the source of the rumor! Never heard of the EU Times but I suspect it’s not a reputable news source – duh, ya think πŸ™‚

Good grief!! The first featured post on the left-hand sidebar at Huffpo is from President Barack Obama, about Rev. Wright’s comments, from March 14, 2008 …… WTF?????????

» Posted By Mightywoof On May 9, 2010 @ 9:16 am

I heard a rumour this morning – from a friend who heard it from her daughter and from another friend who received it via email – that the oil rig explosion was actually sabotage by the N. Koreans! I rushed off to Snopes but couldn’t find anything about it.

Has anybody else heard this rumor? Totally bizarre πŸ™‚

Every weekday morning, as I sit at the ‘puter chatting with friends, visiting POV and reading online papers, my radio is tuned to CBC’s ‘The Current’. This morning’s topic was Hate and the middle segment was about Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish.

There are some who walk among us who are truly heroic. In spite of their suffering and the terrible things they have witnessed and experienced in their personal lives, they manage somehow to seek the path of goodness and righteousness in the best sense of those words. Dr. Abuelaish is one of those people. I stand in awe of anyone who not only will not hate but manage to find love in their hearts for those who hurt them.

I was going to try and write an article about this but it would take me too long to figure out how to do it and I wanted to share his story while I am still caught up in the emotion of it all. Instead, I invite you to visit CBC and listen to the interview yourselves ………. and then go and buy his book I Shall Not Hate

Javaz, just when one starts to get jaded and thinks the world is a shitty place, someone comes along that just brightens one’s day. I’m glad you had two someones today!! Thanks for sharing

» Posted By Mightywoof On April 23, 2010 @ 5:30 pm

Oh dear Javaz – I’m so sorry but I guess I’m not surprised. I sincerely hope someone challenges this all the way to SCOTUS – where’s the ACLU?? Mind you, given how the Supremes are ruling nowadays I wouldn’t be surprised if they upheld this law and then, I’m sorry to say to any American, you’re screwed. Ouch – here comes that hard knot of anger πŸ™

» Posted By Mightywoof On April 23, 2010 @ 1:42 pm

Heh – do you sometimes feel you’re just trailing around saying ‘me too’ – not a criticism of you as I do it all the time. I sometimes feel like a member of the Fokahwee tribe (they’re 4 foot people who live in 6 foot grass and spend all day jumping up and down saying ‘where the fuck are we’ – a joke from my Brit youth) as I spend my days sometimes jumping up and down saying me too πŸ™‚

The nicest thing that could happen to that man is a breakdown and being fitted for a nice white jacket, Cher – I, personally, think dunking in a vat of boiling oil is not out of line πŸ™‚

» Posted By Mightywoof On April 23, 2010 @ 12:28 pm

I haven’t commented at all on your posts about what is happening in your state, Javaz, because every time I read it I get such hard knots of unbelievable anger in my stomach. I don’t know how you can bear up under the weight of all that evil in state government.

Stay safe and stay strong!

» Posted By Mightywoof On April 23, 2010 @ 12:27 pm

Oh my, Cher ….. Judy Collins and Aaron Copeland – can life get any better!!

I have to run – chores are calling – but I just saw this at HuffPo

It’s an atrocious headline as always but the article seemed interesting – although I only gave it a quick scan

Time Out for OT – Vol 6

Oh gosh, Sanity – for a moment I thought you were going to squash the trolls on breitbart ………. I really want to stomp all over Mike from Canada πŸ‘Ώ . The poor baby can’t get to see a doctor when HE wants to – what, he has to wait all of a couple of days; is it that urgent that he has to see a doctor right NOW. Grrrrrr. I wonder if he’s Mike from Canmore (a comedy group character who was a total dimwit πŸ˜† )

» Posted By Mightywoof On March 25, 2010 @ 11:31 am

Agreed, Cher. I sure miss the old TLC ….. and A&E, and Home and Garden and all the other specialty channels – they’ve all gone ‘reality’ – I don’t watch any of them any more. I know it’s a familiar complaint but we have a 300+ channel universe and they all show the same old crap – in reruns yet!!

I read about Palin getting her own reality show πŸ™„

That was so seriously funny my sides hurt!! I loved his breakdown of Libertarians – lying arians πŸ™‚

» Posted By Mightywoof On March 25, 2010 @ 5:18 am

Wow – that was incredibly powerful!! Those words should come back to haunt Boner (can’t remember how to spell his name – but does that really matter? Boner he is and Boner he shall remain) and bite him in the bum!!

» Posted By Mightywoof On March 25, 2010 @ 4:53 am

Love it πŸ˜† . I really like the way the President and Vice-President are together – it goes beyond a working relationship and the body language shows a true affection and respect each for the other – a rare thing!

“But to say that this bill changes the current laws is utter baloney”

I’ve just made the same argument to an American friend of mine who’s upset over the XO and claims it doesn’t mean anything. I agreed with her but made the point about the Hyde Amendment being the law and it hasn’t been repealed by any legislative act – including this one!!

Time Out for OT – Vol. 5

I read of his interview yesterday Kes. I’ve been hearing those same damned arguments for at least the last 30 years – doesn’t make them any more correct today than it did 30 years ago. It’s a canard – there may be a few rotten eggs in the basket but you don’t throw out all the eggs – the Right just love to blame the poor, the out of work and the downtrodden, don’t they.

» Posted By Mightywoof On March 8, 2010 @ 7:47 am

I also miss Scheherazade and where’s Kevenseven (did I get the name right?). I guess people get lives outside blogging but, darn it, they shouldn’t πŸ™‚

I agree Cher – it’s so easy to fall in the trap of becoming a social site. I read the debate you all had yesterday – and it was heated in some ways. It can be hard to find the right ‘tone’ in the written word so as not to cause offense. I know a lot of people dislike smileys but I find them useful at times to soften what is written.

» Posted By Mightywoof On March 8, 2010 @ 7:42 am

I was going to comment on this when I first read it, Javez – but I got so bloody angry I had to walk away. What one earth do you counter with when faced with such stupid and ugly misogyny (sp?)

Time Out for O/T – Vol 4

There’s a great blog at the Dark Side this morning by Robert Creamer

“The financial industry, the insurance giants and the oil companies are going to bite and claw and fight to stop real reform until the last dog dies. Progressives better be ready to do the same.”
