Never went, never could learn the language, but taught Japanese culture all the same to kids – me being a test subject and dressed up in kimonos and such. To this day I still love those tacky rice candies and have fond memories of the big Japanese stores in Portland and Seattle. This Sunday I went to a big Indian celebration of their festivals in Tempe following the week before where I went to the local Indian group’s dance presentation.
