He lauded BushCo for keeping the Senate in session in spite of the rules, to force thru Medicare part D. This guy said that when Bush was questioned on forcing the rules, Bush just smiled and signed the bill. His point was that Obama should start knocking heads. This requires a constitutional amendment or six. “Corporations are not people” would be one. “A reasonable amount of campaign finance reform is not in opposition to the first amendment” is another. I dare say many more could be offered. But a constitutional amendment needs even more consensus in the Senate than did HCR. Why we could assume that we would get 67 senators to cut the balls off of corporations in this climate is beyond me. Not that I have any fondness for the bill that we are likely to get at this juncture. For me it was all about lowering costs. We are paying on the order of 30% more than the other industrialized democracies, per citizen, and failing to cover all our citizens, which all the others do. In point of fact, about 1/3rd of what we spend nationally is for stuff that we just don’t need. Tests, procedures and medications that we just don’t need.
