I think the draw is the instantaneous replies, regardless of the substance of those replies.

Satisfies the trolls, the sheeple, the peeps, and the nubies.

You have to walk through the gauntlet to get to the other side and see how ridiculous it becomes. Then get a drawer full of socks and go at it with reality in your mind.

Hello Gretel.

Welcome to the better place/planet. Give it some time to get used to the relevancy and lack of hostility you may have become used to. The thread here moves slower and you will not have that instantaneous gratification you have experienced over at hp…but most times those responses were abbreviated, lacked a sign of thorough reasoning, and were just for laughs.

We like to laugh here also, but we keep our eye on the serious issues and engage appropriately.

Feel free to ask any questions…someone will reply.

Hiya Pepe, miss you in the neverland, but are glad to see you here.

Socks are now a major component to my life on hp. I have a favorite one or two, but have created several that are destined to be given up after posting enough reality, which can only incur anger from one side or another.

A long strange trip it is over there, but my goals have shifted away from my own ego, towards a place of slap and jab, get the hell out.

I have witnessed many warm welcomes to newcomers on here. I remember the day I registered, at least three posters greeted me. Felt very warm and fuzzy.

The other evening when MissTraci showed up, I believe 4-5 of us greeted her personally and there was follow up info posted to her about how the site works.

We were given nothing at hp. You signed in, and you entered the hp school of hard-knocks-to-stumble around, got scrubbed due to unknown word list violations, and kept your defenses up because you never knew who was a troll, and who would attack.

I remember being quite confused the first month at hp. I still am at times.

I was thinking about this as well while I awaited my son’s drum lesson to finish.

There is also the fact that many of us post to one another just because we are the only ones “on” here in a given time period. I encounter this with Dey…the Eastie time zone vs. Westie.

Like this morning, You, Seek and I happened to be available and posted back and forth for awhile. Sometimes I come on here and there’s barely a soul because it’s dinner time out west, or some fabulous sports event is airing. I post, check back, check back again and then give up.

“The List” continues to grow. Last night “test” was scrubbed continuously, which was being posted furiously, based on one out of two comments going “poof” within 30 seconds. New software being tested on the “peeps”? Crowd control? Everyone ran for their lives and I imagined the overseer making notations of specific timing at each wave of abandonment.

I checked my comment file this morning and every comment I made last night on this thread had been eradicated. The last half of them included the statement “Better look at this quick, it’ll be gone in a second” and it was. The link over here I posted stayed up for about 45 seconds, surprisingly.

Ah, fun and games in the world of: “Rules? We don’t need to tell you about the stinking rules you effing sheeple”.

I betcha Rob is going to feel like quite the celebrity after reading this.

Monk, I hope this is just the first installment in a series that I would greatly look forward to!

No, I was distracted today. But I appreciate your offer. He’s a good guy, just confused, and I remember those times.

He is close to being raptured. Guilt by association he is experiencing. Hence why I offered him the red or blue pill last night, as Morphius did in “The Matrix”.

FYI, have to give Dreamers an instructional email that I promised him, and I have sat here writing for the last 1/2 hour. As indicated to you before, I will share with you. You could entitle it “Nubies’ Shift in Procedure and Habit on the Planet”. Or maybe “How to Break Some Bad Habits”.

I really feel it would be helpful for the nubies here to understand how this site works, so they may enjoy it that much more. But I sincerely feel that takes a week of leaving PP up on your browser and jumping in and out.

Born in Jackson Heights, Queens.

First apartment that went co-op was in Forest Hills (lived there about 6 years).

Moved to Mid-Hudson Valley near New Paltz in 1989.

Couldn’t have kids in the city…too scary circa 92. And couldn’t afford a house down there.

My parents paid $33K in 1966 for their house which is now worth over $1Mil. Crazy times indeed.

Ha…you know my secret now! But be careful, you probably like your husband much more than I do mine. In fact I call him “X” with the hopes he will become just that very soon!

That phrase is also an effective means of deflecting insults and rancor from trolls…but have to be careful the way you type it.
