Awhile back there was sentiment that Kentucky should serve as an internment camp for the neos. Reddest state gets to be the locale of choice for the reddest of voters.

Can remember bunk assignments were discussed at length as well.

How do the repugs/neos reconcile their pro-life stance when their favorite pasttime is slashing the shit out of low-income health related service budgets?

I can’t wait to see what happens in the schools after the last round of stimulus money is distributed next spring. I know NYS is in the hole for $12Bil, with no school funding on the horizon for 2011 and beyond.

There will be many many hungry children that year when the public school system can no longer afford to offer a discounted/free lunch/breakfast.

And FYI, my local school district is running a deficit in their cafeteria program approaching $200K, for 2500 K-12, WITH EXISTING FUNDING, the likes of wich we will undoubtedly never see again.

Hi Javaz. I was about to google “stupak” and up popped your comment. Thanks for doing the leg work.

“…no one plans for an unplanned pregnancy” says it well.

And if I may, I’d add to that with the concept that the decision making involved in a mistake, including the physical complications mentioned, will not find a solution in perpetrating a secondary mistake. That’s bad math.

I have never met a woman who capriciously sought an abortion. Never. The right to choose inspires a soul-searching that I’m not sure any woman is ever completely comfortable with for the remainder of her life.

Women’s reproductive rights must stand and any healthcare plan must offer complete coverage. It’s that easy to me.

Glad to be home. Never understand how I ever lived that lifestyle of everyone on top of each other. Good to be back in the country where you can see the stars.

Today’s type of event never ceases to amaze me…pagan rites (catholic) of embalmed corpse viewing. Had an opportunity to share my wishes with my kids…party hardy, good food, music and booze when I go.

Good evening Monk.

My uncle was a marine that served in the SP.

He never spoke of his experiences, which included watching his best friend die over there. My aunt told me that his nightmares were dreadful for the remainder of his life.

Stern and regimented, but a sweetheart to his favorite niece (his offspring were three boys). I was always a little afraid of him though.

Some Interesting Stats Re Congressional Reps/HC Industry Dollars

I’m serious. I still compile a comparison spread sheet of NYSED reading/math scores for 1-8th grades for every school district in my county each year and then slap it at my school’s administrators with a “wtf” attitude. Love how Duncan will be requiring that from districts going forward. If kids can’t read at level by 3rd grade, it creates serious social and academic problems.

Running those numbers takes a week out of my life, but is worth every minute. One of my friends, a long time board trustee and retired math teacher extraordinaire, has called me “datagirl” for six years. He’d like you alot. So do I.

Time to make dinner for the kids. See you later I hope.

Xmas stuff already? Yikes. I commence my program Thanksgiving weekend. Too much garland and such in the living and dining rooms. Outside lights may go up before, based on weather conditions.

Wish I was going to DC. Wanted to, but got a push back from the old man. And I mean old man. Maybe he’ll come to his senses. (I like dreaming, can you tell?).

I have a 17 year old daughter and I remind her sporadically of the history behind a woman’s right to reproductive choice. I also tell her it will be her job in the future to protect it.

The GOP have had their eye on Roe V Wade forever. Conservative christian types just bash away at any woman expressing a desire to control her body. Ridiculous…so 19th century. Another reason most of Europe laughs at us.

Is it “woman, get back in that kitchen, be barefoot and submit”? God help them. No way. We will never allow things to go back to the abortion alleys my grandmother knew about. Never.

When it comes to health insurance coverage, the two facedness between a woman’s right to birth control, and a man’s sexual enhancement meds is a real eye opener.

As I have previously mentioned here, my local Obama-ians are going to down to DC on the 19th to meet with Senator Gillibrand. Their info email includes a statement that they will be addressing specific women issues exclusively for the 15 minutes they’ve been scheduled to meet.

Hope Gillibrand listens.

Having spent the first 20 years of my life living near the beach, I can most assuredly say, chastizing the tides does not work. However, when done at sunrise, it can be a breath-taking experience around August on the Atlantic.

I was a bit disheartened to receive at 1:30 am my weekly OrganizingforAmerica email from Obama requesting a donation. That was what, 2 hours after it passed. They ask for money to get something done, and then they say “hey, we did it, can I have some money”.

Plouffe was better at the donation thing back in the day. Their requests are now so frequent, I barely read them anymore.

Hi nellie.

You have eloquently defined what my sleepy head wrote.

The senators do think they know better, but is it based on their constituents’ views, or outside influences? Comes back to lessening their term, and capping their total “service” time.

By example, when I was a school board trustee, I enjoyed how nubie trustees were more engaged and analytical than their long time counterparts who exhibited a “same as it ever was” stance. Fresh ideas, and an “imagine the possibilities” attitude can affect real change.
