The Next Credit Bust – 2012?

Sue,

I agree with AdLib this is a brillant piece.

The Supreme Court puts our democracy in the hands of corporations

No Jobs, No Recovery, Our government sells us out everytime.

» Posted By FeedUp On January 21, 2010 @ 11:53 am

KQuark,

Again, you are “spot on”. This is the worst thing for further democracy
in the USA. What an effective tool for the corporations to control the masses. We have been sold out again, and again by our government and corporations. This will now become the norm, a weak stagnant permanent economy. We the people are nothing to our government and corporations. Communism called freedom and democracy.

The 7.0 Earthquake in Haiti will be absolutely devastating to the people of this country.

KQuark,

You are “spot on”. BTW, I sincerely hope that you are on the mend.

Thank you Javez,

I have several Haitian friends and they want the same things for their families that us Americans want, food, clothing, shelter and a safe environment for their children.

Thanks everyone for your support……..

I just donated $25.00 to Haiti Children.org

As many of you know that I lived in South Florida (Just North of Fort Lauderdale) for over 36 years. South Florida has a huge Haitian population. These people have been starving and are desperate to just survive. They literally eat mud pies, because there is no food. Many locate to Florida and New York for a better life, they risk their lives coming to America in a rickety boat through shark infested waters.

If you can’t donate I urge all of to contact your congressman as the Haitian people have been ignored by the US Government by propping up corrupt Haitian politicians that only further exploit it’s citizens. This US practice has been passed on and on for years from White House Administration to White House Administration for decades. This horrific earthquake is the last thing the Country of Haiti needed.

Haiti is in Americas backyard, again thank you for your support.

2010 – A Planet Odyssey

Last night my husband and I received our New Years phone call from our dear friend from County Cork Ireland. The good
time you had last night the Irish would call it a good crack.

Anthony’s Song

Sue,

Don’t be to hard on him. Just consider it growing pains. You may want to explain to him that if writes or copies anothers words, he needs to give them credit with of footnote of the author.

A Mandate for Civil Disobedience

Javaz & Bito,

Maybe your are right, hummers not Humvees.

Not sure, someone from Detroit called in this morning on open lines and reported the info. I am going to do more research into this. Will report my findings. I had WJ on in the background so I wasn’t listening that closely.

» Posted By FeedUp On December 17, 2009 @ 6:44 pm

It looks that maybe this bill should be killed. They have got us totally spinning. How many balls in the air can they keep going?

I know some are going to get upset with what I say but here goes..

Just several weeks ago a mass shooting at Fort Hood by a disgruntled Muslim. Is this coincidence or convenience — Obama rolls out his new war plan to further the war in Afghanistan. This all happens while many Americans are focused on Health Care Reform.

I just heard today on Washington Journal (sorry I am a WJ junkie)
General Motors received billions of tarp money. Now army tanks and
humvees are being manufactured in Germany, I guess at the Opal plant. Why aren’t these products being manufactured here in the USA. The value of the euro to the dollar simply doesn’t make any economic sense to manufacture in Germany.

No jobs, millions losing their health care, no real strategy and Obama’s poll numbers are plummeting.

Now, McCain is agreeing with Dean. What’s next ?

» Posted By FeedUp On December 17, 2009 @ 3:34 pm

Should We “Kill Bill”?

Javaz,

Other than a small handful of Dems, there is no difference.

FlipFlop Lieberman, was a democrat, then had his head up McCain’s arse, now an independent.

A true patriot and champion for the American people. He is a FRAUD.

Nellie,

You are so right another “fiscal conservative” disguised as a DEM.

» Posted By FeedUp On December 16, 2009 @ 6:44 am

Good Morning Friends,

Just finished watching Washington Journal this morning. One of their guests was Senator Kay Hagan “DEM” from North Carolina.

Who is she ????

She has a big “D” behind her name. She just stated she was a fiscal conservative. Then stated that the European Union has problems with counterfeit drug importation and people are dying
from taking these so called “illegal” drugs.

I have two very close friends that live in the European Union and they have never heard of people dying from these drugs. Let alone of a illegal prescription drug problem in their countries.

The two countries my friends are in are Ireland and Germany.

Has anyone else heard of this ? Or is this just another sack of lies, the mantra of tell Americans anything (the dumbing down continues).

» Posted By FeedUp On December 16, 2009 @ 6:20 am

The argument that the importation of drugs isn’t going on in this country is a not true. I have noticed that many prescription drugs are now made in many other countries.

The vote was 51-48, short of the 60 required. In the complicated politics of the moment, that was counted as a victory for the health care bill, since the drug industry opposes importation but is working with the White House to pass the overhaul effort.

Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., who had pushed the change, said it was a loss for consumers. “This is not over and it’s never going to be over as long as American pay the highest prices in the world” for drugs, he said.

Importation of drugs by the mega-pharmaceuticals manufactured in foreign countries is okay ? ? Then ramping up the price to Americans. Why is this okay ?

This isn’t change, it is just more people talking out of both sides of their mouth.

At least Sen. Dorgan is being honest.

Here is a Heartbreaking and Heartwarming Story by Mike Barnicle This Morning

K7,

At the HP, I was Navision. Yesterday, I closed out my account with HP. I started coming to the Planet in August but like I said I am shy. Plus, my husband was laid off in January 09, and the both of us working on laptops were on a mission to get him back to work and we ended up in Central Texas, we are about 30 miles from Fort Hood.

Hubby and I are both from the SW suburbs of Chicago and after high school moved to Broward County, FL (we were just north of Fort Lauderdale). We moved to FL mainly for lack of opportunities in IL back in 1973-74. Fort Lauderdale was a small growing city and within a couple weeks he found a job that launched his 33 year career.

My next door neighbor another staunch Dem-progressive and I went to see President Obama and Joe Biden at the BankAtlantic Center in September 08. We stood in line for 6 hours along with about 50,000 people with desperate looks on many faces. Only, 24,000 folks were let in. The most exhilarating thing I have ever done.

When I was in high school I had the poster of the pink flower, war is not healthy for children and other living things. That really irked my Republican parents.

Always been and always will be a peace creep and environmentalist.

Jobs, You Want Jobs?

Sorry, MissFrechyUSA,

I seriously doubt that 16 – 20 million jobs will be created by the eco-green industry. Furthermore, re-tooling buildings to be green WILL require skilled labor (union labor). Would you like your building to burn down? Because these folks don’t deserve to make six figures. Union Labor = Trained Labor.

Plus, all of us are not the same.
Some are real smart, some are smart, some of us are just average, while others struggle with day to day life.
I believe every country should embrace “3rd rate manufacturing jobs”. That is how you maintain a diverse economy for all it’s citizens.

While Mitt Romney maybe considered a successful businessman. Putting him in charge of America’s Economic Future would be the final nail in the coffin for the American Worker.

Bain Capitol (Mitt Romney’s Global Empire) purchased American Standard after slicing and dicing the company it is now called Trane. However, the American worker in Ohio and other parts of the country paid the price.

Healthcare Reform: What’s in it for Me?

If Eric Holder would aggressively go after those that commit Medicare fraud, the RW would have to shut up. Medicare Fraud in
South Florida is a lifestyle of corruptness. I lived there for over thirty years and this fraud has been going on for decades.

Put 80-90% of your best agents in Miami and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law and publicize the arrests, trials, and
convictions.

Mr. Holder please send a clear direct message that you are taking Medicare back, stop giving the RW whiners an excuse that government health care can’t work.

Steve Kroft from 60 Minutes expose on Medicare Fraud

And the sad thing is most of the fraud is committed by illegals or immigrants that refuse to assimilate. Because of the language
barrier many immigrants are exploited and used and the fraud is considered their Monday thru Friday job.

The Death of the Great Movie

Kalima,

Deathtrap was a great movie. I believe it was Christopher
Reeve’s best work.

I’ve been craptured.

Thanks AdLib I was off the PlanetPov radar for a few months. Glad to be back.

Dear AB,

Just arrived in TX on 11/14, we are in Temple. And like I told
SeeknDestroy everyone has been exceptionally nice.

My husband got a fantastic job offer from a leading company in the area.

I still can’t get over it, our apt. complex has Maple trees (leaves are turning brown and yellow) and palm trees. Seeing a bit of change of seasons is nice.

My husband has a sister and her family in San Antonio, been a republican all her life. But, she has admitted that GWB turned out to be a disappointment. She has two grandsons that can’t find any work after being in the Navy. So, she won’t say it but she is a bit bitter.

We are looking forward to exploring the state, any input would be appreciated.

Have a Great Thanksgiving.

PlanetPov meet up sounds like fun.

SeeknDestroy,

So far so good, everyone has been very nice. But, for the time being I am keeping my politics under my hat and not being public about it. Yet………….

Nice to meet you too.

Peace Kitten welcome, you are now in better company that want you here. Your piece you wrote brought tears to my eyes.

When I was seventeen my family moved from the Chicago suburbs to
Florida. I could not believe the Klansman there, my family had
been republicans but my Dad never discussed politics or cared much about it after he saw first hand the disgrace of discrimination.

Your parents were very wise. So sad 35 – 40 years after Civil Rights we are still stuck in this time warp.

You will love Planet Pov, I have been here since August 09 and the
site has evolved greatly.

BTW – my husband and I just moved from Florida to Texas (for job reasons)

You betcha! LOL

» Posted By FeedUp On December 18, 2009 @ 7:44 am

Kalima,

I am a huge tea drinker, I love it. I love the smell of coffee, but double up with stomach pain if I drink it.

Friends over the years have given me tea as gifts.

When my hubby and I travel I always try to find a local tea.
Of course that is hard to come up with a local tea here in the states. I prefer Irish tea over English. I have a friend who has a import/export business and he gives me tea
from China, once had a terrific Jasmine tea in a foil bag.

Indie tea is good too. German tea is good too.

Loose tea in a tea ball made in a ceramic tea pot is my FAV

If tea is bad for you I am in trouble. How is your tea in
Japan?

» Posted By FeedUp On December 10, 2009 @ 9:48 am

Dear Kalima,

I knew you meant no disrespect to the Cuban people. This was just an Op-Ed piece, I guess just her reference of including JFK in her piece gave me the impression, that both leaders loved their people. The comparison struck me as strange, one leader a dictator the other the best president (JFK) the US had since FDR.

However, while we are on the subject I have some very strong reservations about what Mel Martinez ( he recently gave up his FL Senate seat during the term) to team up with Jeb Bush for —- no one knows.

Why, does the first Cuban born senator Mel Martinez leave a senate seat? My friend, and her mother (who is in her late seventies and a very wise woman) and myself, have discussed this at great length. During our discussions our biggest fear is that the US will try to further exploit the Cuban people in the name “freeing them”.

I guess that maybe it is me I am too cynical and distrusting of politicians and their hidden motives. Saying words that mean one thing then doing another thing. I hate “DOUBLETALK”

Please let’s continue the conversation as this will be a unfolding saga.
