Healthcare Reform Update: Historic Move by the House of Representatves

Keeping young people involved sometimes requires doing things like life experiences. Take some of the promising ones out and show them what the grit of the world, whether it be from lack of healthcare or public shelter or hunger, really looks like close up and work on their compassion side. If we merely go for the logical side, we either may lose them or they just look on others as “objects” to work for, not real human beings with needs you can experience yourself. I remember my first campaign, and the letdown afterwards, but then again, Richard Nixon was elected that year.

Considering that since December 2005 I’ve either been paying COBRA coverage prices or individual policy prices for coverage, and will soon (end of November) run out of coverage and am a pre-existing condition type, this is important to me on many levels.
Going from an $87 copay to a nearly $250 full price cost for a single drug without insurance isn’t going to be fun (90 day supply)

I know he made a comment on the President I thought was in poor taste and cost him some of my respect. It’s easy in politics to get drunk on the attention and forget to connect brain before engaging mouth.

I’m not disagreeing with the Washington facts of life, I just don’t have to be thrilled by what we’re being told they are.

Dr. Dean is a good and admirable man, and I understand where he’s coming from. But me, I liked the Dennis Kucinich speech today.

Those on the far right, including the Trolls and the Tea Party followers and birthers, are doing more for the progressive movement than they can ever know or appreciate. Acting like cave people doesn’t ingratiate yourselves to the American public, as the far left of the 1960s learned. (but we had fun) We’re still trying to overcome that stigma. May the far right have a half century of trying to do the same.

Dean kept impressing the point that we need some of the public option stuff to take effect now in order to prove to the American public by election 2010 that the system will work. Which is very true. However, I don’t see that as happening. Just like reading Jane Hamsher’s piece at FireDog Lake on the pharmacuetical deal and what it will cost us. (You can read it at HP but I’d rather click FDL)
I don’t want another decade of compromises to finally get something that is truly reasonable but still juryrigged because of the politics of it.

Maybe they knew another Arianna gamechanger was coming. Seriously, the comments on the article there on the President’s visit to Dover were outrageous. Let alone the ongoing healthcare story or the Obama press secretary meets with Fox one. That’s about all I could handle.

Did get my newest disposable sock up and safely used (I lost another this morning) Neither are the one you fanned me on.(DM) Am looking forward to slipping in this evening to spread the word.

I took networking back when MS was still working on making Windows Server functional enough, since they didn’t have DNS capabilities yet. This was part of one of those retraining programs for distressed workers. Of course, everyone trains in “the next big thing” and ends up flooding the market again.

That could be very touchy in a shared computer environment. Of course, if it was not down to the adapter level then it would get touchy in a networked environment.

Now the current one I’m trying to stay low on should have came in on the same IP as the old Monk account, so I’m not sure, and certainly the new one from this AM that disappeared did. So I’m not sure. I took networking classes far to long ago. Anyone remember Novell?

Forty years ago “politically correct” had a different name, “common decency”, but then the right got hold of it and did a spin.

Reporting of crimes is often interesting. Look at most universities and inquire about, say, rape. Oh, no, they don’t happen here. They dance around it to avoid loss of enrollment and funding.

Corporate Main Stream Media Determined to Kill Public Option

My point was that the news organizations will take even the happy news and find something dark to report in it, because that is what is fascinating to people, sadly. It’s almost as bad as the (insert your hometown name here) stories where they find some smuck locally who knows someone in some disaster location, just for the local tie-in.

As for making it up, they’ve always done it (remember the Maine), but not to this extent nor to so many gullible people who feed on it 24/7/365 (read Fox News). Whether they be sheep or lemmings (another HP banned word) it doesn’t matter, they are lead to their demise by those who should know better but use ignorance, accidental or designed falsehoods, and deception to get them there. The arguement that it is perfectly legal to lie on a news program is an obscenity to me, but we claim it represents freedom of speech.

Happy news doesn’t sell. Even if we remove your more darkside arguements from the equation, which I don’t necessarily disagree with, the reality is that the longer this goes on, the more income the news suppliers make from the counter and counter-counter advertising going on by both sides. But there is the side that says that ordinary journalists have ceased to write anything resembling basic who/what/when/where/why stories and almost every one of them is doing both personal and corporately directed editorializing. Ed Schultz took another good shot at it today. He’s been dogged on keeping people to the fire and the rest of us aware. But the normal media? No. My regional newspaper is so distorted on many stories you might as well not read them (Arizona Republic). Is stirring the pot good business? Yes. Is it good for America? Heck no.

Hello, I’m Monk, and I backslid today. I visited HP, not to participate, but to fan some old friends. But in doing so I had to visit several “articles” and see the same old stuff from the same old negative people on the right. It was a very sad experience, and now I feel very sad. It is now obvious that HP is very bad for the psyche, and even small doses can be harmful.

I did always find it interesting that mentioning the business aspect of the website was alway frowned on, even if you were kind about it. You know, I’d hate to have Arianna out on the street experiencing what she intellectually abhors. Or even having to drink 2nd level champagne.

I’ve said here what my new moniker is, and if it suddenly doesn’t work, I’ll figure she has someone keeping track on us. What the hey, she can do it if she wants. Does anyone else her get Arianna and Orly Taitz confused if you turn away and listen?

I’ve got news for them all. “Happy Days” weren’t that happy. Even if you were part of the established structure, you still had to work at “fitting in”. Picture what Rock Hudson must have gone through. Let alone the children of the poor who wanted to get ahead. It wasn’t until Eisenhower started to assist those rocking the boat in Little Rock, and then establishing things like National Defense Student Loans, that many of us stood any chance of going to school, even in educationally progressive states like Kansas.

There is an article somewhere on the Newdeal20.org website that suggests that perhaps the president is closer to Hoover in his belief in the technocratic side of things. I’m still trying to decide, but then again, I’m a lover of both Roosevelts.
