Free to Assemble- Not in Indiana; A GOP Tactic at Work

I don’t have any idea and could not find any numbers, but the place is huge, and Caru is right it is a very nice public building. It’s right downtown where the NCAA will be held, if people are outside protesting it will snarl up traffic.

Indianapolis has a very vibrant downtown thanks to a unique city-county government that has helped our downtown immensely. Most local governments are held by the Democrats because most people used to union, but at the state level it’s usually Republican. Evan Bayh was a popular governor, he was an extremely moderate Democrat and he went to Washington, I’m sure at the dismay of his father, and became a money hungry Republican. People here often vote against their best interest because of social conservatism. I was taken off my high school class reunion blog because I objected to them politicizing it’s during the last elections. They were talking about death panels and telling people not to vote for Obama in emails and I was furious. This was a minister from our class that started this blog to keep us all informed about each other. I finally said if it was going to be a political blog to leave my name off – and he did!

I’m not sure there are CL. We just go further to the right. We passed a very restrictive abortion bill in 2011 and Daniels eight years are up so he doesn’t care, although he has openly said he’d like to be a VP choice and this is going to bring in some bad PR. But, what I think is bad PR may be good PR to the Right. Sadly, Mike Pence wants his job and he’s twice as conservative and we don’t really have anyone strong to run against him. It’s amazing we went with Obama in 2008, perhaps those people don’t vote in local elections. It makes me crazy!!!!

Having been in this huge stone building many times, this ruling is poppycock! A typical small town high school basketball game will seat three thousand. My own hometown of New Castle has a world class facility that will seat over half the town, almost 10,000. And they don’t seem to be worried about those fire codes. This is strictly political and beneath Daniels because they’re getting ready to vote for the “Right to Work” law. There’s plenty of room outside for protesters, but I wouldn’t think Mitch would want the NCAA crowd to see them!

Love this Sally – did he only have two kids since he can’t count to three?

I don’t think he can count over two!

Why didn’t he mention Newt was part of the check kiting scandal?

Time Out for O/T – Vol. 18

Kes – I knew I’d find a friendly face and a cup of tea, just what I needed – thanks! Indiana’s been infiltrated by the Tea Party. There were some Dems that crossed over and voted for Lugar but that couldn’t save him. The guy is a crook who was running against him, I just don’t understand voters. I remember when Indiana voted for Obama in ’08 and my DIL and I waited up late (Obama had already won by a landslide, this was just icing!) and both cried on the phone when the results came in! I don’t know if that’s possible this year. The Head of the Klan was once from Indiana and I hear remarks and get emails that disgust me daily.

Thanks for your kind words. Madison is a lovely place to visit, a little further away for you.

Hey Everyone,
I haven’t been around much lately, this site hasn’t liked my Safari cookies from my iPad Bito – it hasn’t let me sign in. I do hover though. Today it worked. Hope you all have a nice weekend and peace to KT and the other Vets on board.

Life has been busy, school is out, had to oversee a major clean and I’ve already had one conference at the house. It’s been crazy!

I also just had my fourth grandchild this week, which may not seem like hard work for me, but they do need a lot of Grandma “holding” for them and me! It’s essential. I learned something from a Pediatrician this week after 61 years, newborns feel light stroking as pain, you should firmly hold and touch a newborn. Now I wonder how many babied I’ve tortured…the guilt is almost unbearable… I love babies!

I need to come here more often to get affirmation on my beliefs. I’m finding this campaign season almost more than I can bear; the lies, the word games, the mean pettiness, and the racism is worse than I ever remember or I simply can’t take the negativity anymore. I’ve always been a political junkie ( not the pros like some of you guys!) but I find I want crawl into a hole until November. It seems that half the people I know have lost all sense of reasoning, I feel like I’m talking to brick walls. I’m the 1% in Indiana and it’s so lonely here.

Ok, that’s my vent. There’s nowhere else in the world I can do that but here, you are such a unique community. I’ve got to get off the HP, TDB, etc. train and get back here or lose my mind! Thanks for listening!

Are these people crazy? Do they think of him right up there with Washington? Have they no standards?

CL – wouldn’t all men have been struck by lightening by now?

» Posted By Artist50 On March 4, 2012 @ 9:25 pm

But he loves Pork!

Kalima- Well said! These were despicable comments from a “supposed” man of God, but I think anyone that saw the interview will come away disappointed with Graham. Unfortunately, it will give the RW their sound bite. Disagree with Obama’s views and policies, but the man has given no one any reason to question his beliefs or his morality.

Makes you wonder what his mother did to him as a child, huh?

» Posted By Artist50 On February 22, 2012 @ 4:39 pm

OMG I just saw Obama sing “Sweet Home Chicago” with BB King – I’m sending his campaign some money tonight! I adored it!!!!!

Sue – I’m with you there! Why is it that old white men seem to be the ones that always want to tell women what they can and can not do with there bodies? It infuriates me!

» Posted By Artist50 On February 10, 2012 @ 8:36 pm

Sue – My DIL and son are Catholic and so is my SIL and several nieces and nephews. They are all practicing Catholics raising their children in the faith, but I think they have already had an uprising about the birth control. The Catholics I know ignore this tenet of the church and are Pro-Choice.

The Church has to know this because there are no longer pews filled with families with 5-10 children like when I was a child. They’ve had to ignore it or risk losing these women to other churches.

I’m sure the Church felt like they had to voice an opinion on this healthcare issue, but from what I read it appears to me that the Evangelical Conservatives are more concerned about it than Catholic women of which over 90% use contraceptives. Plus they don’t understand the issue, assuming that the hospitals will provide abortions. Very frustrating.

PS. I have a Shih-Tzu / Maltese mix who is the sweetest dog I’ve ever had!

Of course they would, they have no idea who they’re voting for now!

He may be crazy but I couldn’t stop reading. I bookmarked the page to go back for more! Happy New Year!

This is crazy. I know I’m getting old, but damn I fear for my little grand babies – what if these people take over? I don’t Steve Doocy and his minions teaching my kids!

» Posted By Artist50 On December 31, 2011 @ 4:57 pm

Happy New Year! I don’t have a wonderful download, so I’ll use yours KT!!!!!

Khirad – Those were too funny, I needed the laugh today! I adore kids!

I have no respect for Maher, Beck or Limbaugh. IMO they use their positions to incite solely to make money – I don’t even trust that these are their true convictions and yet they have damaged our country with their divisiveness. Maher’s tweet was totally out of line and only hurts the progressive cause, but he doesn’t care – its in all the papers!

KT – Twelve years is a long time, but from my experience with my brother he would go that long and then start drinking. It really is one day at a time and I have the greatest respect for each day you can make it through. My brother also had to deal with MS, not that it’s an excuse but he ended up in a nursing home or I don’t think he would have ever been clean. One of his problems was that doctors gave him drugs for his MS without knowing his drug and alcohol problems. It made me crazy and there was nothing I could do about because of HIPPA. He was divorced, his children weren’t old enough to sign for him and I couldn’t legally, although when he would overdose they would call me. I called one doctor and left a message one day about his meds and ask him to call me explaining I knew he couldn’t talk to me, but I could talk to him. He never called back. He was the well known town doctor for easy drugs. Very frustrating.

Kes – This is so sad. I went to college with a girl that came from a wealthy family but her father was an abusive alcoholic and I remember visiting them and seeing for the first time that all families weren’t like mine – there was something wrong in their home. She married a nice guy, again from a “good” home and years went by and we lost contact. I then heard she had seven children and went to our old sorority asking for help. She was a meth addict, teeth were missing, friends said they didn’t recognize her, she wasn’t working and she brought all her children with her seeking money. I think her husband had finally left her. It was a pathetic story of what drugs can do to a beautiful, educated woman whose life was full of promise. We’ve tried to find her with no luck, I can only hope she got sober for herself and her children.

OMG – What an insidious drug. What are the sores from Kes?

» Posted By Artist50 On December 25, 2011 @ 9:01 pm

Can you imagine Newt putting in a day in a coal mine? I’m sure those miners are tired when they get home – they must be screwing every women in town!

Paul is very hot on college campuses. I think he has a few hot button issues that sound good and young people get behind him, but I was disappointed Andrew fell for them.

Sue – Don’t forget them in the candy factory!

» Posted By Artist50 On December 14, 2011 @ 8:24 pm

Bito – I’ve never seen a rich conservative look as bad as Luntz. Somebody needs to buy him a new suit and a pair of dress shoes. I don’t know how anyone takes him seriously.
