» Posted By Aquarius 1027 On February 22, 2015 @ 12:20 am Part Two Of The Life Of A Draftee Hi, Nirek – Thank you for continuing to share your story in Part Two. Sorry to be so late in responding. Your words still touch my heart as they did in Part One. I told you then of my almost disbelief as a sixteen year old that there were so many killed – and having it reported on the TV each and every day. I could not even fully acknowledge that my cousin who was over there at that time was in such danger. He was just away for a while. Yet that does not even compare to the realities of the Viet Nam war that you experienced and endured. That part where you had to walk and look for land mines was incredible. I know you had mentioned before that there was luck involved with your return to home – you were indeed very lucky that day. And I agree with you that veterans should have every assistance that is needed after returning from war. When assistance for veterans is delayed or denied it is a disgrace to this nation. As a nurse, it is hard for me to comprehend that someone would not provide help for all of those inside and outside scars. My entire career was dedicated to helping others heal. I cried when I found out that the GOP in Congress did not pass that Veteran’s Jobs bill, such frustration and anger against a deliberate disregard for veterans. It is highly commendable that you are willing to discuss and answer questions about your experiences in Viet Nam. Not that many could do this. And it is significant that your story be told so others will know the true cost of war. Just like the old saying from that time, Nirek – make love, not war. Peace, my friend. » Posted By Aquarius 1027 On February 21, 2015 @ 4:48 am Weekend Music Thread – Something in the Air

» Posted By Aquarius 1027 On January 25, 2015 @ 9:13 am Memento 2: The U.S. News Media’s Political Amnesia Hi, AdLib- Completely agreed, there is too much disinformation given by the MSM. I have no interest in so many biased opinions that are spouted as somehow significant when actually they are nothing but deceptions. And those who allow such squawking are nothing but peddlers of political agendas. – I cringe every time I hear a GOP say that “the American people have spoken”, it is such total nonsense. – Thanks for a great article! » Posted By Aquarius 1027 On November 19, 2014 @ 2:05 pm Hi, Kalima – Thanks for all of the news updates. I get tired of all the GOP/TP outlandish statements and the elections are still over a year away. I only did a quick search on the U.S. history of the number of Presidential candidates from the same party without finding an answer – but I do not think there has ever been this many before. I can only wonder if the GOP/TP realize how foolish they appear outside of their little bubble. :0 It is interesting – for the first time I find myself as an undecided voter when it comes to the Democratic candidates for President. When all of the campaign hullabaloo is done, there are still two very qualified candidates who I think would both serve this country well. – Ultimately, I am inclined to support whichever candidate evolves to be the strongest contender to keep the GOP/TP out of the White House! As always, it is wonderful to see the pictures of the day. Amid some of the turmoil there are beautiful scenes from nature. – And heartwarming reminders of the good in humanity. My favorite was the traffic guy who helped a mother duck and her little ones to cross the street safely. π Hope the typhoon bypassed your area. It is hot and humid here as well, in the 80’s and 90’s with a chance of thunderstorms almost every day. The low for tonight is 72! – Sending good wishes for some cooler weather in Tokyo. Take care. π » Posted By Aquarius 1027 On July 18, 2015 @ 3:40 pm Hi, Kalima – Decided to catch up on the news without having only bits and pieces in assorted places. And I knew where to go to find the best news! – Although this is very late, I wanted to say a belated congratulations on your five years of the MB!! π You have an excellent selection of articles that are always noteworthy. And I enjoy those pictures! Sorry to hear of your tumble, sending good wishes that you get better soon. I can relate to your predicament. Years ago I slipped on some ice and landed on my um, bottom. Nothing broken either but I used pillows for sitting for quite a while after that. No need to apologize, I am the one who has been missing for much longer. I hope to be back more often. As I read through this MB, I noticed the remembrances of past incidents of violence and hatred: And yet, so much still exists today in 2105: It is sad and tragic that we are supposed to remember and learn from the past but we do not. With the Koch brothers, it was interesting to see the money trail expose more of their true intentions. Although they have always had a primary strategy of increasing corporate wealth and control of the government, it seemed that women’s rights and equality for LGBT would not have to be on their agenda. Unless they truly are conservative religious extremists as well as greedy. – One thing for sure, they are not socially liberal! And I agree – that guy who commented about women driving cars and possible rape needs to crawl back to his museum. Such an absurd so-called rationale to deny women’s rights. Take care and keep warm in Tokyo, it is going down to -8 F this weekend here in western PA. And of course, 1-3″ of snow is also predicted. – I noticed the cat video of Maru, is he/she your cat? So adorable! I have a Bengal cat, she is seven years old and very playful. She enjoys her catnaps, too. π » Posted By Aquarius 1027 On February 14, 2015 @ 2:32 am Thank you for sharing, PPO – the story of the times when you were growing up and your experiences with your father is wonderful! You gave a unique perspective of the history of those great people in movies and entertainment. Yet most of all, I enjoyed reading about your family and getting to know your father more. He was truly a very talented and compassionate man. So very well done, PPO – thank you again for writing this excellent article. » Posted By Aquarius 1027 On November 19, 2014 @ 1:10 pm The Weekend Music Thread – Animals Are People Too! Just finally learned that earlier this year. – How do you copy more than one to the same comment box? Many thanks. π » Posted By Aquarius 1027 On October 4, 2014 @ 12:05 pm Dear Trolls: Yes, I do think Barack Obama is a Very Good President and Here is Why Great to see you too, AdLib! π » Posted By Aquarius 1027 On September 26, 2014 @ 9:15 am Hi, AdLib – Well said! I agree that one cannot blame the lack of an effective government on just the President. One must look at the other branches of government as well as other circumstances occurring at the same time. » Posted By Aquarius 1027 On September 23, 2014 @ 3:58 pmComments Posted By Aquarius 1027
