A “Maggie” was the derogatory term used in the 1970s for female Aggies. I think they meant “maggot”. Yes, I’ve ridden horses (but I suck at it) and herded cattle into squeeze chutes. My younger, cowboy phase. I also tried riding a bucking barrel, to practice for bull riding at a rodeo, but dislocated my shoulder first time out. I was a wild one, back then….

Nope – it’s south of San Antonio. One of my friends dad owned a cattle ranch, and we’d go help a few times a year. Paid with a side of beef, which pleased my parents a lot. I’ve pulled calves, branded, vaccinated, and de-horned. It’s why I’m not a vegetarian, although I did give it a go.
