You don’t have to do the whole song either. What you’ve already got is hilarious! » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 9:25 pm The owner of the copyright has disabled that at YouTube to force you to watch it only on YouTube. When I run into that, I try other sites like DailyMotion and eventually find one that can be embedded. » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 9:25 pm Everyone agreed with me that I was right and you were wrong. It was so sweet! I can’t believe you missed it! » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 9:23 pm Just chillin’. You can go back to View and Zoom In now so you don’t get a headache looking at the small type. » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 9:10 pm You were too funny, nellie! The senator is a Centerfold!!! » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 9:10 pm The chat is like a blog version of a game of pickup basketball, lots of fun but takes a bit of energy to keep up. » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 9:09 pm Back at ya, escrib! » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 9:08 pm Folks are still hanging out at Vox Populi, I’ve extended it by popular demand. » Posted By AdLib On January 29, 2010 @ 6:55 pm Friday Music Thread – Send a Message Thanks Nicole! It was hard narrowing them down. My favorite is “I Believe In You”, with the corporate Repub types singing, “Gotta Stop That Man!” Didn’t realize how fitting it was till I watched it, been a long time! » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 5:22 pm Happy Birthday Bito!!! » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 5:15 pm Thanks Hopeington! Night!!! » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 5:11 pm Corporations Are People Too! by Dr. Suits Now that we’ve got the whole package, WTS and I have discussed sending it to publications. We tossed around a few ideas of places to go: Slate, The New Yorker, The New Republic, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone and The Nation. Any other suggestions? Also, I’m not a seasoned hand at submitting articles to publications so any assistance or on how to proceed or referrals would be appreciated. Otherwise, I figure we can submit it as a Letter to the Editor and if they like it enough, they could always feature it as an Editorial. Thanks to all for your support and once again, cheers to WTS for such wonderful work! » Posted By AdLib On January 25, 2010 @ 12:24 pm Well…that’s all the Japanese I know! Darn! » Posted By AdLib On January 25, 2010 @ 1:05 am It’s WTS Day as far as I’m concerned! Man, what a talented guy!!! » Posted By AdLib On January 24, 2010 @ 11:44 pm What about WTS’ new Dr. Seuss illustration for this post? Does it rock or what?!!! Great work WTS!!! » Posted By AdLib On January 24, 2010 @ 11:33 pm Fantastic! Thank you escrib! » Posted By AdLib On January 24, 2010 @ 6:16 pm Thank you everyone for all your fantastic support on this! A head’s up, WTS is working on an original graphic that will be replacing the current graphic. So if you hear back from anyone you’ve contacted, please let them know we have a new original graphic for the article and send them a link to return here to see and use it instead. Thanks!!! » Posted By AdLib On January 24, 2010 @ 10:52 am I’m just trying to break even. You and many others have been so kind and generous with our fundraising drive, once we make it to the target, that’s 2010 expenses for web hosting paid for. Hope to have another fundraiser later in the year to help pay for the programming we’d like to do at the site to make some cool changes. As for gas money for court…probably better off riding my bicycle there. 😉 » Posted By AdLib On January 23, 2010 @ 5:04 pm You are 100% right. I always plan for success as best as I can and as The Planet continues its trajectory, I recognize that precedent and practicality dictate a transition from anonymity for this Admin. I mean, it’s showing a minimum of consideration, people do need to know who they’re supposed to sue. » Posted By AdLib On January 23, 2010 @ 4:47 pm Those are excellent questions. It was something I figured I’d have to think about down the line, it’s just popping up, happily, a little sooner than expected. Blogging under anonymous names allows people to freely express themselves without concern of who may read what they write. Also, with the trolls that are rampant in the blog world, I think it’s a wise idea to have an anonymous name as a firewall. So as a rule, I think (and I believe most members would agree) that remaining anonymous is best. Still, each member is free to decide that for themselves. I’m in a slightly different situation because of my position here so I have different considerations to take into account. That said, there is absolutely nothing improper about using your Planet user name as your byline if you or any other member has their article picked up and re-published elsewhere. Just want to make clear to all that keeping their anonymity is not an issue in any case, it’s always up to each member and it will not be an obstacle to having your articles re-published elsewhere. » Posted By AdLib On January 23, 2010 @ 3:09 pm Cher, thank you so much!!! Hope you’re feeling better! » Posted By AdLib On January 23, 2010 @ 2:38 pm Is that an offer? 😉 » Posted By AdLib On January 23, 2010 @ 2:37 pm Imagine being in my position, having so many friends being so supportive of your work, I’m totally humbled. » Posted By AdLib On January 23, 2010 @ 2:37 pm What a rush it is, all of your humbling compliments and support, sharing this with the Intertubes and media, really blows me away! I say this wearing my Admin hat, I am smiling widely because this is exactly what we should be doing as a community when articles here really strike a chord with us, sharing them with others and using them to help shine a spotlight on and grow The Planet. I mentioned this on another thread but for those who missed it, an editor at a local newspaper in TN graciously asked if he could re-publish this article as an editorial. I was of course very happy to agree to that. FYI, as Bito mentioned below, our only requirements for another entity to carry our articles or stories is that they fully credit the writer(s) and provide PlanetPOV’s full URL (as a link if at all possible). What I hope the takeaway is from all of this is that The Planet’s orbit is getting bigger, thanks to the contributions of all of our members. So from now on, when you publish an article at The Planet, I hope you keep in mind that there really are people out there, well beyond our membership, who are reading the thoughts and opinions in your articles…and you may be the next to have their article re-published elsewhere. It’s amazing, this remarkable community of people that’s come together (and is growing) and all of the progress we’ve been making so swiftly. And it’s only January! Cheers! » Posted By AdLib On January 23, 2010 @ 2:31 pm You see what I was talking about?! Boomer rocks!!! » Posted By AdLib On January 23, 2010 @ 2:08 pm Cheers Tiger! I have a feeling that unless The Congress acts or a Repub seat on the SCOTUS opens up for Obama to fill, you may be right. » Posted By AdLib On January 22, 2010 @ 6:49 pmComments Posted By AdLib
