The Human Body Is Innocent

Offended? No. Intrigued? A little.

» Posted By ADONAI On July 19, 2011 @ 2:45 pm

So……. absolutely no one else is even a little freaked out by the gray penis?

» Posted By ADONAI On July 19, 2011 @ 2:02 pm

Damn. I had always heard stories but…. damn.

wts, I most definitely agree on your last point. The worst example I can think of would have to be Mengele’s sick experiments on living humans during WW2.

That stuff went on in a lot of places but the scope and barbarism of his “experiments” were vile to say the least. And he had a sick fascination with twins:

“Once Mengele’s assistant rounded up 14 pairs of Roma twins during the night. Mengele placed them on his polished marble dissection table and put them to sleep. He then injected chloroform into their hearts, killing them instantly. Mengele then began dissecting and meticulously noting each piece of the twins’ bodies.”

Some of them were children. And eh did it all under the banner of “science” and dared call himself a physician.

Indeed pluto. The first time I heard it in biology class I thought it was the craziest thing ever. Oxygen is killing me?!

But then you get older and realize everything is killing you. Especially time. So you get over it.

And good to see you back. Don’t be a stranger.

» Posted By ADONAI On July 18, 2011 @ 4:36 pm

The biggest threat to the body? Oxygen.

One of the most corrosive substances on earth. Oxygen breaks down the body on a molecular level. The thing that gives us life is also slowly killing us. How’s that for irony?

And I guess it all depends on how you look at the body. What if you are spiritual and believe the body is merely a temporary vessel? As Jesus said, “It is not what goes into the mouth that corrupts the body but what comes out of it.”

And the thing about the body, about us, is how it adapts. Did you know our bodies are evolving the fat we store? The body is adjusting to the human diet. Figuring out ways to make it work for us. We may give up on our bodies but they try not to give up on us.

But some do betray us. Not everyone is born with the body they should have. Or some see it break down far, far too early. What then? The body is actively working against the person to shorten their time with us.

As far as the superficial stuff goes, you can blame that on the brain. we’re naturally drawn to the most aesthetically pleasing things. And it’s not like thousands of years ago someone set the standard for what beauty is. What we consider “sexy” has changed very much over the centuries. It’s only in middle of the last century that “rail thin with a huge rack” became the popular choice. Or ripped abs with frosted hair.

How much sleep do you think the body needs? It actually only needs a few hours. Maybe a little longer if you’ve really pushed yourself. The body is a miraculous healer. Most of the hours you put in to sleep are for your brain. But even it can be trained to accept shorter rests.

Pain and fatigue are weakness leaving the body. If we never pushed ourselves, we’d never advance. We’d never get beyond our self imposed limitations. No one knows their body’s limits til they reach it. Running a mile hurts. It hurts a little less the next week. And the week after, until it no longer does. And the body doesn’t mind. It accepts the challenge. It want to be better, just like you. It is in it’s DNA to be better. Even if it has to do it for you.

The Daily Planet, Vol. 117

1.)I never called it a “progressive majority”. It was a Democratic majority. Remember the Democrats? The ones who just needed to be elected in large numbers, then they’d do the things that need to be done. So we did. And they didn’t. Both houses and the Presidency. I bet when Obama got into office he thought, “Alright! Now we’ll get some stuff done!” Fast forward two weeks later and it’s, “WTF?!”

2.)I’m still pretty sure that, by Thanksgiving, the “debt ceiling debacle” will be forgotten. A classic example of bullying votes. Yo know what phrase I;m REALLY getting tired of? “During an election season…”. Cause the season NEVER fucking ends. Every week, every month is a goddamn fight for “the soul of America”. It’s getting ridiculous. How many times is a person gonna see a politician tell them they’re future is in danger, then turn on the TV to see talking heads laughing about it?

3.) “The administration understands the way short-term fiscal policy relates to their 2012 campaign.”

That’s great. And I hate to interrupt your awesome political campaign but, aren’t you suppose to be making decisions FOR THE REST OF US?!

4.)The Texas education system has so many thing so worry about along with getting funding for their shitty, one sided, heavily abridged textbooks.

5.)The climate change argument is irrelevant now. It’s far, far too late to do anything about it. Prepare to reap what has been sown.

6.)People need to shut the fuck up about FOX News. I am so goddamn tired of it. WHO CARES?! Do they think that one day people are suddenly gonna turn around and say , “this is bullshit!”? NO! It’s never going to happen. The highest rated show on FOX News barely captures the ratings of a rerun of Project Runway. FOX News is destroying America?! Really? I think people just need something to hate and will do anything to validate it.

7.)Man. That had to be devastating to find out that the Democratic Party is full of fuck-ups too. “Blue Dogs”, “professional Left”. Who says Democrats can’t bow to faction and watch their Party disintegrate? Good for them.

8.)Everything Murdoch has done and they’re gonna bring his empire down on phone hacking charges? I guess. it kinda has that “Capone busted on tax evasion” feel to it.

9.)Lincoln compromised a little but got a lot. He never originally intended to free any slaves. He once said, “…if I could preserve the Union with slavery I would do it.” But that was after he said,” If I could preserve the Union without slavery, I would.” ALL he cared about was the country as a whole. When the Confederacy came to him before the war to “compromise”, he turned them down each time. The Confederacy wanted legitimacy. He dared not give it to them. But the politics of the time were so different than today. The Confederacy was actually holding part of the country hostage. It wasn’t the silly metaphors we trade in today.

10.)Congress merely controls funding. Obama can remove all military personnel from GITMO and declare that military operations can no longer take place there. That means the base closes. Then what does Congress do? Nothing. They can’t do a goddamn thing about it. Load the prisoners on helicopters that have already been paid for and take them home. So, when I ask, “Why doesn’t Obama close GIITMO?”, I mean, “Why doesn’t Obama close GITMO?”. He tried the signing statement route and it failed. Now exercise your supreme authority as Commander in Chief and just get it done already.

HA!

That one is just about perfect. They’re both pretty goddamn crazy. I think Ruckus may have him beat on the self hating part though. But only by a little.

And I had every Deftones CD. that was my favorite band in my teenage years. I would love to hear Maynard sit in with Jerry Cantrell and the new Alice in Chains lineup.

The Daily Planet, Vol. 116

1.) Let’s not apply Christian values to the budget.

“Sell all that you own and follow me.”

2.) I agree with Mr.(?) Karoli. “Full of sound and fury signifying nothing”.

3.)President Obama is gonna have A LOT of tough choices. On August 3 and beyond. I know he won’t always make the “right decision” but I trust he will put more thought into it than anyone else, and that’s really all you can ask. We got disagreements but I still support the man.

4.) I was so glad to see that article on Greece. All I’ve heard for a year and a half is how we’re gonna end up like Japan, Greece, or some other country in Europe with .00000000000000000001% of our economy. You CANNOT apply the same rules to us that you apply to the rest of the world. That isn’t arrogance, it’s just a fact. I see so few articles that validate my world view. Thanks Cher. 🙂

5.)This is the “war on education” I’ve been waiting for. Don’t misunderstand me, I don;t wanna see hard times befall the education system but hard times are coming whether I would wish it or not. And, yes,I do have a vote on the education system. And a ton of other things. But most people don’t vote on issues. They vote for whichever fuck can promise them the most bullshit.

6.)That seems to be the American way now a days. In education, business, police work, the military. Don’t spend more money to make better people, just lower the standards. Sure, you’ll get a bunch of fat, racist, uneducated policemen but at least you get policemen, right?

7.)I think a lot of people miss the fact that the EPA makes “suggestions”. The EPA says, “This is fucked up, here’s what we should probably do.” Then Congress does it. Congress passes the laws. The EPA merely cites and enforces regulations related to the law.

8.)Shut up Chuck Todd! You fucking idiot. When I wanna hear from you I’ll shove my arm up your ass and work you like a puppet. ‘Cause that’s what you are.

9.)The sooner both Parties die, the better off we’ll all be. Any system that actively divides the country is a severe detriment to our democracy.

10.)And Obama will be fine. The person who raises the most money wins a vast majority of the time. People are easily bought by 15 second TV ads. Just ask W.

11.)Hope McConnell’s idea doesn’t catch on to the people at large. ‘Cause we will vote for it. We’ll vote for anything that tells us we don’t have to pay taxes. No matter how stupid it is. As per your example, just ask California.

12.)I question the polls that shows Americans wanting tax hikes(of course I question all polls). Go ahead, “raise taxes”. See how long they applaud you. We all say the “right thing” when we know it isn’t gonna happen.

13.)”Money, not morality, is the principle commerce of civilized nations.” ~Thomas Jefferson

The Debt Ceiling Crisis Thread

I know there are larger issues in the world but here are three things that piss me off more than anything:

1.)Animal abuse. You are beneath contempt.

2.)People who get offended by comedians. Get over yourself.

3.)Beer commercials. No one drinks for the taste. So just shut up and give me my drug.

**EDIT**

My bad. Thought I was on Off Topic.

» Posted By ADONAI On August 2, 2011 @ 6:13 pm

I totally understand why some Democrats voted no on this bill. It was unnecessary and a farce. The debt limit should have been the main focus. Not attaching a thousand things to it.

The President, I think, got a better than expected deal. Repubs wanted major cuts in SS and a plethora of bullshit social laws. Obama checked most of that out of the bill. And for that I applaud him.

But there will be losers. As there always is. And I’m afraid, once again, it will be the poor and the lower middle class. So much time was spent balancing the cuts that the rich got away pretty much scott-free. But this is life in Washingotn.

And I think that will disillusion a lot of people. But, following your train of thought, Dems need to keep at it. Show people that this is not the end of it. The main goal, to raise the debt ceiling, was accomplished.

But this can’t happen again. Next raise is 2013, right? What if many of the Dems are right and the Repubs do this again? If Dems don’t wipe the floor with them in 2012 they very well could.

Call their bluff. Boehner and Cantor were ready to end this a month ago. They talk tough but you could see it on their faces. If not for the goddamn Tea Party, who knows how this would have turned out. Take their ace in the hole away from them. They wanna do this again? Let them twist in the wind. Bullies will bully as long as you let them. One solid punch to the face ends it all.
