Time Out for O/T – Vol. 17

I know this is not what I’m suppose to take away from it but I’m amused that people still use the word “savage”.

So is she trying to steal some of Ann Coulter’s thunder?

You know, we’ve gone to war with Canada before.

I don’t do Facebook or Twitter

But I am on Youtube constantly and many different non-political message boards where politics do come up.

I gotta say, I think the generation fixing to take over running the country in the next few years

Is predominantly liberal. Now, I’m only using a sampling of Americans but that’s what most statisticians do.

I don’t know how that will translate to politics but the new generation seems awful liberal.

THAT IS AWESOME!

Seriously! That is super exciting!

I knew the universe was more complicated than this.

That searching the micro world would show us that we don’t really know jack.

I’m trying to get a new internet slogan going.

If someone tells you something obvious or trivial

respond with: That’s great. Why don’t you go Facebook about it?

So if you see this out there in the future, you know who started it.

I missed Ahmadenijad’s speech.

Did he bring his “A” game crazy?

» Posted By ADONAI On September 22, 2011 @ 12:38 pm

Damn shame. How could they possibly not see doubt?

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 8:06 pm

SCOTUS stepped in twice in the past on the case.

The last time, in 2008, they unanimously decided that there wasn’t enough evidence to prove his innocence.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 7:52 pm

Em, I think the head of the NAACP put it best.

They followed the letter of the Constitution but not the spirit of it.

No one would begrudge them stepping in to assure a guilty man was on death row and not an innocent one.

But there is no protection against executing innocent people. But no one wants an innocent man executed.

They hid behind technicalities that they could have easily sidestepped for years now. All of them.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 7:41 pm

Indeed.

There is doubt that he is guilty and we are still gonna execute him. This is insane. He may very well be guilty but we don’t know for sure and that’s what makes it so heinous.

We aren’t 100% sure he is guilty.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 7:30 pm

That’s it then.

God forgive us.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 7:23 pm

HOORAY!!!!!!!!

That’s fantastic news Sue!

Everyone we get right now is a blessing. Good for her.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 7:08 pm

Of course you would want to destroy the person who killed your loved ones. There is absolutely nothing abnormal about that.

Many of us want retribution for the crimes of the severely disturbed. And that’s why a capital punishment system exists.

My biggest fear, and one that is probably unfounded, in removing the death penalty is a rise in vigilante murders.

Make no mistake. If you shoot someone who just shot another person you are a murderer, not a hero. They can give you a ton of awards and the key to the city but you are still a murderer.

This what the state does. They murder people whom a court has decided deserve it. You haven’t gotten justice or revenge. You are just a murderer. That’s it.

Life is sacred and you do not have a right to deal in it. Death begets death and that is no way to live.

So what do we do with them then? Well, kill them if you want. That’s what they did. But don’t give me any fucking speeches about justice and righteousness while standing over their corpse.

Keep your death penalty. Kill the killers. But don’t talk to me about duty and a civilized society. There’s no such thing.

We’ve had capital punishment since society was founded. Has never, even for an instant, deterred crime.

Many societies use to focus on rehabilitation. Some still do. It worked. Worked in France for hundreds of years before prisons even existed.

But, yeah, some people are so depraved that they will always be a threat. So kill them. Just don’t pretend it’s justice.

Al, I don’t trust just about every political book written now a days.

Like I said, it’s a guy selling a book. Only people I really trust concerning Obama are the people who work with him every day.

And they seem pretty pleased. I was just saying that denial is everyone’s go to. So you can’t say it’s false just because someone denied it.

But you can’t then say it’s true just because someone denied it. Which he actually tried to do.

I guess I don’t really have a side on this one. I’m inclined to go with your view simply because it sounds more plausible.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 6:34 pm

Sue, Could be they didn’t want to be interviewed on tape. Nothing wrong with that. And they all knew this was going into a book.

But I don’t know a lot about Suskind. Does he have a vendetta against the White House of any kind?

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 6:27 pm

Apparently you just promise them lower taxes and cheaper TVs.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 6:24 pm

Exactly Sue. Like most books. No one was asking Woodward to produce tapes when he painted Bush as an intellectual terrorist.

You just gotta trust the author I guess.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 6:19 pm

I think Suskind’s book is truer than people give him credit for.

People quoted in books saying they were misquoted? That’s par for the course.

But having Alter there, who also spent time in the White House on a book, to bounce the interview off of was great.

I think people are shielding the President but I don’t think it’s necessary. Doesn’t sound like Suskind’s book is an indictment on Obama. Just a story of his progression as a President.

If you elect a rookie President, don’t get mad when he makes rookie mistakes. Support him in improving them cause his potential is limitless.

Still, at the end of the day, it’s a guy trying to sell a book.

Boehner let the dogs off the leash and now he can’t get them back on.

And I hope Americans have finally had enough of this farce.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 6:04 pm

You had to look it up?

Fuckin’ dumbass.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 5:54 pm

Good lord, I can actually believe that sentence running through Rick Perry’s mind.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 5:38 pm

So, wait.

The Prime Minister of Israel is super happy with President Obama’s stance on Israel

But Rick Perry, governor of the American state of Texas, feels his policy is all wrong?

???

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 5:24 pm

I’m anti death penalty too Sabreen.

But I understand. It’s just an imperfect system and right now we can never be sure we only execute guilty people.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 5:12 pm

Can you imagine just sitting there waiting to find out if you die tonight?

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 4:30 pm

SCOTUS hasn’t answered yet but Georgia has decided to give him a temporary reprieve. No one knows for how long though.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 4:22 pm

Indeed. Not endorsing it but I get it. I mean, if you think a guy who is innocent is about to be killed 500 feet away from you….

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 4:16 pm

thanks bito

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 3:54 pm

I just turned it over to Al. Riot police are indeed out. I don’t think much will happen.

I hope not.

» Posted By ADONAI On September 21, 2011 @ 3:53 pm

I really have no words for what is about to happen in Georgia.

I hope the Supreme Court does the right thing.

A new trial needs to occur not just for the sake of Troy Davis but for the soul of the American justice system.

This isn’t right. This isn’t justice.
