A new proposed agreement filed in federal court on Friday would make clear that transgender people can use restrooms and other public facilities that align with their gender identity, but Republican state legislative leaders continue to oppose it.
In 2015, the second US Trans Study was conducted by NCTE and it found, among other things, that nearly 30 percent of transgender respondents reported having at some time been denied care at a doctor's office that would have been rendered if we were not transgender. So we aren't even talking about refusals for transgender-related care, e.g. hormones...we are talking things like diabetes, broken bones, colds, etc.
I am pleased to announce that North Carolina has become the first state in our nation to have a major political Party (the Democratic Party) officially recognize a separate Transgender Caucus! It happened first in the South!
