Nearly two and a half centuries ago, this nation was formed...when colonists became angry at taxation without representation. Yet, as a transgender woman, I am not represented...yet still taxed.
I am pleased to announce that North Carolina has become the first state in our nation to have a major political Party (the Democratic Party) officially recognize a separate Transgender Caucus! It happened first in the South!
We will likely not get a ruling on Aimee Stephens’s case until at least March 2020. Meanwhile, we transgender sit and wait. And we wonder. And we worry. Will the highest court in the land of the free...finally rule that we are full humans? Or will they relegate us to permanent second-class status?

Am I anti-gay?

I had a gay cousin who was murdered back in the mid-90’s, I loved my cousin despite his sexual preference. I’ve been asked by some Japanese colleagues my opinions on the gay issues. Here’s my dilemma...am I, anti- gay...
In 2015, the second US Trans Study was conducted by NCTE and it found, among other things, that nearly 30 percent of transgender respondents reported having at some time been denied care at a doctor's office that would have been rendered if we were not transgender. So we aren't even talking about refusals for transgender-related care, e.g. hormones...we are talking things like diabetes, broken bones, colds, etc.
A new proposed agreement filed in federal court on Friday would make clear that transgender people can use restrooms and other public facilities that align with their gender identity, but Republican state legislative leaders continue to oppose it.
As it is, there are three Democrats in Gray’s Ellis' primary, including Gray himself. I also have a primary challenger — one who ran for this seat in 2014 and lost...when it was configured more in a way that favored the Republicans. So now it is on like Donkey Kong!! North Carolina has TWO openly-trans candidates for state Senate.
What I see is another division being created in our already-marginalized community.
I dream of a state in which all voices are heard, not just those of the rich, powerful and connected. A government that works for ALL of its citizens, not just the few who can afford to hire lobbyists. I dream of educational excellence and economic opportunity...I dream of a state we can all be proud to say is our home.
In a nation that lectures other nations around the world about human rights violations, it is almost laughable that MY basic rights and dignity should even be a subject for debate!

Trump said he would be a dictator on day one. Does anyone believe he will stop being a dictator at the stroke of midnight?
