Germany has a mixed proportional system, which I wish we had. In your district, in your state, you vote for your preferential candidate first. And then, you vote for your preferred party list preference. As long as a party gets a 5% threshold, they will get seats. Beyond this, my head hurts trying to explain it, but it's still better than the electoral college.
Joe Manchin, the corporate shill in Democrat clothing who is a U.S. Senator from West Virginia is, among other things, a big fat liar and plainly dishonest to his constituents and all Americans. In another power play, Manchin carpet-bombed multiple...
The requirement of proof of vaccination to be in a public place, a fair and reasonable threshold to protect the majority of people and our economy and society, is very reasonable. Everyone wanted to see Biles compete in this Olympics. Wanting to be in that moment of awe, watching her flip through the air as if gravity had no hold on her.
In 2015, the second US Trans Study was conducted by NCTE and it found, among other things, that nearly 30 percent of transgender respondents reported having at some time been denied care at a doctor's office that would have been rendered if we were not transgender. So we aren't even talking about refusals for transgender-related care, e.g. hormones...we are talking things like diabetes, broken bones, colds, etc.
A proposal for a Climate Change damage mitigation project, proposing a National Water Management Agency to reduce floods, mitigate damage from droughts and generate needed supplies of potable water. Your comments, critiques and suggestions are welcomed.
For the country to move forward, this commission is a must. If McConnell and Johnson get their way and hamstring it, they will be responsible for what will inevitably follow, a new form of Jim Crow, and that cannot be allowed.
Many brave Democrats lost their seats in 2010 for voting for the ACA but in doing so, they saved and helped millions of Americans, past, present and future. What they did was noble and profound, they changed history for the better. Clearly, Manchin and Sinema are not cut from the same cloth but perhaps they can be leveraged to do the right thing and become reluctant heroes in the end despite themselves.
The uniqueness of the GOP being the first American political party to transform into a cult may undercut acceptance but that hurdle needs to be jumped or the existential threat this nation faces from this cult may come to pass.
If you aren't busy trying to pass kidney stones or slamming a car door on your fingers, you may want to watch these panels and the speeches CPAC this weekend...even if they're more painful.
