DAZZLING
“Ryan cheered the crowd to its feet, he showed an energy and enthusiasm…Ryan came across as a smart, passionate and all-around nice guy — Ryan humanized himself and presumably by extension, the top of the ticket.”
DECEIVING
“Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. The mountain of cow dung that flowed from Ryan’s mouth.”
Four Big Lies
A) “The credit rating was actually downgraded because Republicans threatened not to raise the debt ceiling”
B) “While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shut down of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, the plant was actually closed under President George W. Bush Ryan actually asked for federal spending to save the plant
C) “Though Ryan insisted that President Obama wants to give all the credit for private sector success to government, that isn’t what the president said. Period.”
D) “Though Paul Ryan accused President Obama of taking $716 billion out of Medicare, the fact is that that amount was savings in Medicare reimbursement rates (which, incidentally, save Medicare recipients out-of-pocket costs, too) and Ryan himself embraced these savings in his budget plan.”
“Republicans should be ashamed that there was even one misrepresentation in Ryan’s speech but sadly, there were many.”
DISTRACTING
A) “Ryan didn’t mention his extremist stance on banning all abortions with no exception for rape or incest, a stance that is out of touch with 75% of American voters”
B) “Ryan didn’t mention his previous plan to hand over Social Security to Wall Street.”
C) “Ryan didn’t mention his numerous votes to raise spending and balloon the deficit when George W. Bush was president.”
D) “Ryan didn’t mention how his budget would eviscerate programs that help the poor and raise taxes on 95% of Americans in order to cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires even further and increase — yes, increase —the deficit.”
“By trying to deceive voters about basic facts and trying to distract voters from his own record, Ryan’s speech caused a much larger problem for himself and his running mate”
One thing about Ryan is his voice – it’s infantile. Sounds as if he hasn’t gone through puberty. How people can STAND to listen to him is beyond me. It grates.
What is it about the GOP that recruits so many man-children, so many men who are infantile in their emotional behavior and often spoiled drunken frat boy types? Dan Quayle seemed to start the trend (since I am not old enough to have known Harding…)
I am not listening BUT I just heard that Romney said, “When you need big things done, you need an American.”
OK – that’s it. This is no joke. He is certifiably a racist fucking pig.
If it’s possible to combine mean-spirited, jingoistic chest-thumping with completely white bread with mayo, snore-inducing blandness he pulled it off, c’lady.
And that cranky audience managed to make “USA! USA!” sound an awful lot like: “Seig Heil.”

I feel like I’ve entered the Dead Zone watching this convention. Can Mitt become any more boring than he already was/is? I turned off the TV when Clont Eastwood started talking. I think he’s one of the great film makers in Hollywood and watch all his films, but tonight I did not watch; the script was bad and the delivery worse.
Do you feel as saturated and disappointed as I with the monotonal sound of this convention? I hope President Obama is “fired up and ready to go.” I expect much more from the Dems. And yes, I look forward to the debates. At least we’ll hear some intelligible sounds coming from the master of extemporaneous speech.

This is a fun topic.
Lying is an art form. The real Mitt and Paul will stand up next week, when they have to remember all the lies they’ve told this week. The thing about lying is that you have to remember so many details – not the lie itself – (with these two, lies come and go). but the details that make them sound true. You need the befors and afters…time of day – morning, Afternoon, witnesses? And if you’re Catholic and already guilt-trained, you know Sister Margaret Mary is going to use that ruler to beat the crap out of you next time she sees you. It makes you kind of nervous.
But the real litmus test comes the next day when the Mean Machine, Fox News, wants to know what the heck you’re thinking and why the heck you’re saying it out loud.

Hey Bourne. This is why I am really looking forward to the debates. How is Romney going to keep all his lies and flip flops straight? He’ll have to hem haw, stutter and take unusually long to answer questions by the moderator and Obama. If the moderators do their job and ask pertinent questions, and softball challenges that are really no challenge at all.
