It’s that time of year, when the lazy, fun-filled days of Summer hit a brick wall and it’s back to studying geometry in Mr. Neidermeyer’s class. Still, school had its fun memories for all of us and that’s today’s theme for our music thread, music that reminds you of when you were in high school (or any other school!).
I remember buying this album as a birthday present for a friend in high school, it had a label which proclaimed how “new” the music was…little did they know back then that their songs would one day be labeled “classic rock”:
Boston – Smokin’
More of the soundtrack I recall from high school years:
Foreigner – Cold as Ice
Boz Skaggs – Lido
ELO – Do Ya
The Ramones – Rock and Roll High School
Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody
Led Zeppelin – In the Evening
Pink Floyd – Dogs
Your turn!

I know, I was weird in high school.
How can it be that I have never seen that, b’ito? But it’s true! Very cool.
What was that show?
I recognized the “kitchen table set,” because one of my favorite songs ever was also recorded on that show. I found it on YouTube, but it didn’t mention the name of the show, or I missed it if it did. I never watched the show on TV:
This is another version, from Yale, that’s so pretty, too:
k’es, bingo!! both were recorded on a show called
Rainbow Quest with Pete Seeger
They were rally good! The Pennywhistlers!!
Here are the words for that song:
Never saw the show, b’ito, but I love that song. Thanks so much for posting the translation. I knew it had something to do with “owning a shop,” and that the title was “Shto Mi e Milo.”
I love choral folk singing of all kinds and these harmonies are so lovely.
This guy became a little popular when I was in high school. I think he did a few albums.
Ah…Mr. Zimmerman, I presume…?
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (always sounded like the name of a law firm, but they could sing)
