Why Don’t We Just Come Out And Say It?
None Of This Makes Sense!
Why is a Mafioso President of the United States? Why did Hillary Clinton play softball and never really challenge Trump? Why didn’t President Obama fully support the Democratic candidates?
Why was Jeffrey Epstein murdered?
Why have so many Republicans retired early from Congress?
Why are 100% of Republican Senators voting to destroy the rule of law? And, why are 100% of Republican Senators voting to set a dangerous psychopath loose on the American People?
Why are watchdog agencies doing nothing about Trump draining the treasury, spending millions on himself? Why is someone who is obviously out of control, and threatening people constantly, (“Heads on a pike?” Give me a break!) still allowed to carry a gun, and make war?
Why did James Comey so obviously interfere in the presidential election? Why was William Barr given a pass, with so little attention paid to his views on presidential power?
Why were the polls wrong, on the eve of the election?
Why do Republicans appear to be playing an all-in, “Doomsday” game. Is there no tomorrow, Mitch?
Why did the United States Supreme Court allow the Republican leadership to make the impeachment and removal of Donald Trump into a farce, and a non-trial: where a political majority of the jurors qualify witnesses based on politics, and individually; and where jurors decide whether new witnesses’ testimony would likely change the outcome. There’s a reason that only judges do these things. Why did John Roberts lie? Why has the Chief Justice abrogated his responsibilities, giving unconstitutional, and unfair advantage to the Republican Party?
Maybe, there’s another possibility. Maybe illogical, unfair, unjust and ridiculous arguments, and criminal partisan tactics are the best that we can expect from a graduate of an elitist university, and a bigoted law school. Taught by federalists who allow no other ideas to be presented.
Why does MSM inflame and investigate war? Are they really such carrion-eaters that they would have young women and men die, for ratings? Or is it something much more sinister!
How did Christianity change so drastically, and so suddenly, into a negative (or Bizarro) image of itself, where dishonesty is praised, and perversion laughed at? A Christianity without charity, or love, and inspired by hate. A Christianity that is anti-intellectual and not liberal, denying 800 years of progress.
Why have Republican values made a similar reversal? Only a few years ago, they would (ever so graciously) threaten to kill a “Liberal” over the national debt. Now, that seems utter hypocrisy. The least perceived disrespect to the military generated a barrage of death threats. (They cared about these things so much that they were ready to kill. Now they have obviously changed their minds.)
Why were we never told that one person controls the House of Representatives, and one controls the Senate. Why weren’t we told that a president has nearly unlimited power. Why weren’t we ever told that the only thing that ever kept this country from chaos and rampant crime was a “gentleman’s agreement,” between men who are, by definition, not gentlemen?
Ten years ago we seemed to be well on the way to transparency in government, with Blue Sky laws, and whistle-blower laws, popping up everywhere you looked. How did that trend get reversed? How did it get reversed with virtually no discussion? Start there!
Why will Donald Trump never answer the question: “Is Jesus Christ God, and the Son of God,” unless it is to, “deny the Father and the Son.”
Why did we give up so easily?
Why? Because the MAIN element of a government of, for, and by the people, DO NOT show up. The PEOPLE. Trump is one person. The GOP is one political party. GOP voters are a minority of the PEOPLE.
IF we actually have a democratic republic or even a representative democratic republic, the majority SHOULD rule, IF the majority shows up to participate in the process. Our “democracy” has been rigged from the beginning, as in the beginning only white males could participate in the “democratic” government. Black people were freed from slavery and given the right to vote in 1870. Actually, the Fifteenth Amendment even gave black women the right to vote, since it extended to citizens, the right to vote without regard to race, color or previous condition of servitude. After reconstruction ended, the right to vote for black people was taken away again. White women were only allowed to participate in “democracy” beginning in 1920.
So our “democratic” government prevented the PEOPLE from being able to “show up” for most of our existence. Today, the PEOPLE for the most part choose not to show up. Humans do immoral things because we are imperfect beings. Regardless of how effective and efficient our form of government is, PEOPLE will always do immoral things. However, as to the question of why is our form of government a “hypocritical democracy” is primarily because we are a hypocritical PEOPLE.
2016 WAS the largest turnout in history. There is no statistical or demographic data to support that if more of the relatively few remaining capable and eligible voters voted, that they would vote against Trump. According to my research, that conclusion is incorrect. In general, staunch Democrats are far the most likely to vote, and to knock on doors. I can’t imagine that there are many staunch Democrats in the “non-participant” group. On the contrary, ultraconservatives make up the majority of non-participants.
And, as to our “form of government being hypocritical:” I never said that. And it’s impossible. A form of government cannot misrepresent itself, it can only be represented.
I don’t think that we, the American people, are hypocrites. What we are is plain enough, we don’t have to hide it; and we know that we need some work. A lot of us think that we are good, honest people at heart. Our government likewise needs improvements, but beats any other system of government on earth.
I was talking about this government: these individuals, and the people who support them. We are not a hypocritical people. Americans don’t lack sincerity or convictions. We have been deceived. By people who don’t have the best interest of the country in mind. By liars and con men.
I don’t appreciate that you distorted my writing so badly. Again, I did not say that our form of government is hypocritical – that would be ridiculous.
I never said YOU said our government is hypocritical. I said that MYSELF, because history reflects that. Further, I don’t know what your “research” shows but I do know that a very large segment of Americans in general don’t vote on a consistent basis, and especially some demographics, like young people and minorities, especially low income minorities. These are the demographics who if they did vote, they would vote for Democrats.
Republicans, on the other hand, are in the minority and their base is declining primarily because old white men are dying.
I don’t appreciate how YOU distorted my comment on your post. If you preferred I don’t respond to your post, I am happy to oblige you. However, if and when I respond to a post, it will be MY opinion. GOOD DAY, SIR!
Further, as a freshman in college I had a very wise math teacher, and one of his favorite admonishments to his classes was RTP (Read Total Problem). Although the raw number of people who voted in 2016 was a record high, the percentage of eligible voters who voted was less than 2008 and 2012. Additionally, although there is certainly a consistent effort on the part of republicans to suppress the vote of minorities, there is also a consistent lack of willing participation in voting by minorities, and young people.

Hi, Steppenwolf – So many questions, so little time to answer them all! 😉 As both a participant and observer in the political arena of our nation for over four decades, I have found that there are three primary elements which alter the agendas within this arena. These elements are war, societal changes and technological advancements.
When young men and women in military service are put in harm’s way, politics is no longer a game – it is the reality of casualties and death. As each generation has established new levels of societal interactions, politics has been forced to adapt in order to remain relevant. And perhaps most significantly, technology has provided methods for increasing communication to vast numbers through 24/7 media platforms – politics has found new pathways to pontificate to voters.
Yet there is also a pervasive fourth element which can alter the agendas within the political arena at any time – the abuse of power. Unfortunately, the reality is that there are simply men and women in politics who are not there to serve our nation. They have ulterior motives based upon individual goals that are detrimental to our nation.
However, to answer your last question directly – there is no answer. I do not know who the “we” is in your question. There is no giving up that occurred “so easily”. If that had actually occurred, how did Obama get re-elected in 2016? And how did Democrats win a majority in the House in 2018? Why are there now such excellent House managers in the Senate impeachment trial who presented comprehensive evidence that will forever remain in the Senate records throughout history? And one more question – In 2020, why do 72% of all citizens in this nation think that witnesses should be a part of the Senate impeachment trial?
Nothing is ever permanent in politics, change is inevitable. Laws are not irreplaceable and our Constitution provides for amendments. – Instead of asking why this is the “era of Trump”, I prefer to ask how will the real majority of We the People work together to end these abuses of power in our democracy.
Addendum: My apologies, I was writing in reference to the re-election of Obama in 2012. 🙂
