The 2010 Midterm Election Season is officially off and running with the passing of Labor Day.

The children are back in school, vacations are over and hopefully, but not likely, the silly season

is over and the serious questions facing this nation will be discussed.

The Planet is fortunate to have members from many states with interests in their federal,

state and  local races.  Do you have an article, a personal story, good news or bad news about any

in your state are welcome.  Make this The Planets election news headquarters.  tell us how your

Senate and Representative races are going in your state.  This year , after the census, the state

legislature and governorships will be important for reapportionment.

This would be a good time for us to use the resources we have here on The PlanetPov

This speech from Madison, Wisconsin didn’t get much coverage. It is a barn-burner.

Ah, Christine, you aren’t a Senator in the Lame Duck session, no matter what the voices you are hearing say to you .

Here is a site from the DCCC with all their televisions spots and information on Democratic candidates. Handy site.

New Goddard ad against our “Headless” Jan. 😀

Haven’t these people heard about video, or do they think it will not harm them?

This is a Tarryl Clark ad on Shelly Bachman, one Rachel claims “Dems committing politics.”

Seems Joe Miller figures he has the election won.

Nate Silver: Alaska Polls Suggest Murkowski Has Upside as Write-In

And, Nate Silver has bumped Murray up to a 76.5% chance of winning and Boxer up to 78.5% -- and of course Wyden is a 100% of winning. Go Pacifica!

Oh, and Patty Murray was chosen by Rachel for “committing politics” -- here is that ad:

And, you know what, I miss this kind of ad. It’s a web ad, but it recaptures the spirit of ’08:

Not sure where to put this bit of news. How many dems would be run out of town with all this deception--before the election??
Exclusive: Joe Miller Failed To File Personal Finance Disclosure As Required By Law, Could Face $50,000 Fine

ThinkProgress contacted the Senate Ethics Committee and the Senate Office of Public Records yesterday and discovered that Miller has not filed a personal finance disclosure as a candidate for the U.S. Senate, as required by law. According to Title I of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 and Senate Rule 41.1, candidates for U.S. Senate must file a disclosure form within 30 days of raising or spending $5,000. According to the Federal Elections Committee, Miller raised well over $5,000 as early as April of this year. Asked again today by ThinkProgress if Miller has filed his personal finance disclosure, or has contacted the Senate Office of Public Records with any request for an extension to file, a staffer with the Office responded:

    Arizona Republic endorsement: Gabrielle Giffords for CD8 -- “it’s a no-brainer”

This from a conservative leaning paper! It quite a good read.
At the very end they have this:

Neither Libertarian Steven Stoltz nor Tea-Publican Jesse Kelly “took advantage of the opportunity to join Giffords and discuss their views with The Republic editorial board.”

This seems the new style for the RW candidate’s, not to do interviews with anyone that won’t throw them softballs.

    Well, running against Brewer, Goddard is still hurting in the polls (not long ago and he was a show-in -- I remember those days… {Sigh}

Still, this is a good effort. Ouch!

Gabby’s New ad. I don’t know what the polling is on this race.

      • Khirad says:

I haven’t seen a poll since early this month showing them tied -- done by a conservative polling firm.

Nate Silver still has her up, the New York Times has CD8 leaning Democratic, and more importantly she can outspend Kelly like 10 to 1 if need be.

Brewer was even losing in her own party’s primary until SB 1070. This state amazes me with their politics.

      • Khirad says:

Everyone outside the state just look at the graphs here to understand the true utility of that gimmick: SB 1070

Also, the Tucson Weekly complaining of Glassman not even trying nailed what I suspected. I knew this was a profile raiser for him. No Dem seriously thinks they can win against McCain, especially not a serious challenge. But, considering that, they mentioned there will be at least one new congressional district in Arizona. They suggested it would be down Tucson way and he might want to run for it. I haven’t really heard much where this new district would be, though, though I knew we’re guaranteed at least one if not 2-3. I’m just assuming this, or, he’s moving elsewhere statewide… Apparently, Glassman’s rich family, ironically, gave to McCain’s presidential run. I wonder who they support here…

I read this in The Range yesterday, and the link probably isn’t important here.

Seriously, she should find herself a cabinet post in the Ahmadinejad gov’t with all that lying and padding of educational credentials!

(there have been numerous scandals in Iran over forged diplomas and even forgeries from nonexistent universities).

She did say she loved the Middle East without its smut, after all. And she’d love a country where her gender know their place.
