This week we lost one of our bigger-than-life colleagues in the world of Progressive blogging, HumeSkeptic.
Much has been shared about him here and at other blogs. Even if you didn’t know him, you’re invited to join in on this musical tribute with songs about remembering or celebrating those that have passed or those in your life that really matter to you.
The Very Thought of You – Billie Holiday
Miss You – Rolling Stones
You’re My Best Friend – Queen
Kind and Generous – Natalie Merchant
Time of Your Life – Green Day
My Way – Frank Sinatra

Now I’m going to cry in my beer (if I had one). The Eagles: soundtrack of my youth.

dildenusa, remind me again of this fella’s name… His voice is an acquired taste, but can be habit-forming.

Thank you, b’ito! I don’t know where my brain is these days. I’m going to blame it on the heat. Seven day forecast on today’s news: 90-90-90-90-90-90-90

The oldies knew how to say it with amazing lyrics:
This was popular when my parents were kids, but it still works!
And, of course, Sarah M:
And,
My fervent wish is that you will have found at last whatever it was that you were searching for. RIP.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find this song by a friend of mine on youtube, but here are the lyrics to “I only miss him when I think of him.”
This is for all the people I have loved, lost and still miss.
(S. Cahn, J. Van Heusen)
I’ll only miss him, when I think of him
And I’ll think of him, all the time
Likely I’ll spend my days
Hearing his turn of phrase
Things I found hard to praise
Right now would seem sublime
The truth is I’ll only miss him
When some stranger laughs
‘Cause it’s still his laugh
My heart hears maybe in time, I guess
The longing will grow, the slightest bit less
And there will be moments, yes
When it disappears, I’ll bet I’ll forget him completely
In about a hundred years
I’ll bet I’ll forget him completely
In about a hundred years
What a lovely song, Kalima.

Hello kes, hope you are well?

Yes, it’s a sad song, but somehow gives me hope. I love Michael Buble and of course Frank will always be in my heart.
We’re having our own heat wave here, Kalima, so I’m being lazy today. Hope you’re feeling better and that the A/C is not failing you.
Why is it that sad songs are somehow comforting? Guess that goes all the way back to Greensleaves and before, doesn’t it?

I doubt that you have ever been lazy, you deserve the rest. Our A/C is working fine now, just to make sure, we haven’t switched it off since it was fixed.
I agree that sad songs are often very comforting, I suppose there are times that it feels good to cry. The release of these emotions is never a bad thing I feel. Besides, I think red noses are cute.

On the laziness issue: ahhhh, those dishes in my sink would tell another story, Kalima. “Later,” I keep saying.”Later.”
