The View From the Left Hemisphere of the Universe

PW- I’m sure she has already spoken to you about the ”savvy beast’ comment… πŸ™‚
Cats and cars are adversaries!
Cats and UHaul trucks.. I shudder to think..
Best wishes my friend- I hope HRHMsMaggie doesn’t commit mayhem on the way! πŸ™‚

PW, your input is very thoughtful. Mirrors my thoughts to a degree.
Are you and HRHMsMaggie abandoning TX?
WI has ugly winters, remember?
HRH will NOT be amused by snow and ice!! πŸ™‚

KT, when people regain value, perhaps Humanities will enjoy a resurgence as well. The current socio-political climate does nothing to foster interest in anything ‘human’.

“Alone, neither may hold all the answers, together, they may bring a unique and more encompassing enlightenment.”
The ‘meaning of life’ in one sentence?

The Astronauts come home filled with wonder- any of their books are documentation of that- And, they Are scientists!
That’s good enough for me πŸ™‚
Thanks wts, wonderful post- and terrific discussions.

Absolutely chaz! That’s what makes life so rich and meaningful.

Bravo e’cat!
I think of it as the ‘universal connection’.
Everything is connected on a subliminal level.

» Posted By jkkFL On April 24, 2011 @ 10:44 am

wts, thoughtful and inspiring post.
Personally, I exist on two levels, First and most appealing to me is the level of wonder.
I’m not quite sure how life came to be- but when I examine the interwoven existence of moon and tide, predator and prey, sunlight and rain, I don’t know if it is ‘pure’ science- but I am very sure of the ‘wonder factor’.
Science insists there are ‘logical explanations’ but there are limits to my acceptance.
I just can’t totally wrap my mind around the ‘happy accident’ theory.
I don’t understand how a shuttle gets off the ground- oh I understand solid rocket boosters, hydrogen and oxygen combining for thrust;
but how do you explain the awesome sound of the shuttle literally ripping the atmosphere?
Or the feeling of power that moves the ground as it ascends?
I’m sure science can explain all these phenomena, but it will never explain the human reaction.
The knowledge of the expanse of the universe being transmitted via sound and feeling.
Wonder is rich in a child’s mind; then science attempts to eradicate it with fact.
Wonder and awe will always be my first reaction, then science can have a turn at it.

A little bit left of topic, but I am a huge Enterprise/Stargate fan, so my focus is on Space Travel.

Hey PW! Good to see you.. and She who Must Be Obeyed is doing her usual task of keeping the riff-raff under control?
Aren’t we overdue for a walk with HRHMsMaggie? πŸ™‚

Caru, You always amaze me!
While I agree with your post.. this really popped out at me!
“I think that we should accept that sometimes there is no β€œgood” option, just varying degrees of β€œbad” options.”
That’s right up there with “There are many ways to do something right.”
The situational issue is the paramount determination.

Huffington Post: The Not-So-Sweet Smell of Success

“I’m done with benefits. Guess I should go by a gun because the job market is still pretty lousy. Can’t even get a sniff on temp work.”

I flagged two responses by the same person encouraging the above to ‘buy the gun, because McD just had a nationwide hiring and she should have gone and gotten a job’.
The second comment was ‘the want ads are full of jobs, get off your pedestal and go get one’.
Two comments were removed, as several also flagged him.

I tried to reply to his third comment- it would not post, (and ‘3 fans’ had been ‘deducted’ )
I guess it’s more important to pile up the numbers than to address a potentially tragic situation.
