The Lonely Ape

The Lonely Ape- what a sad commentary on life as we know it..
Here in FL- our primary products are tourism- and citrus. The bee catastrophe is well documented within the citrus community.
Between the drought and the bee shortage, even more citrus growers are selling their land to developers.
It is a critical issue, without much hope.. unless we can persuade the tourists to pollinate citrus blossoms.

What a great post!
Cyrus was a tall figure in history because he literally invented many of the world’s blueprints for governing, which I found the most fascinating of all.
After generations of supreme monarchy, where would he come up with the idea of delegating power, creating ‘states’, and preserving local culture and religion?
Do you have any idea of the physical size of his empire? I can’t find any estimates of the square miles he actually ruled, but it is amazing that he was able to conquer such vast territories- and maintain his sovereignty.
How I wish the people of the time had had a sense of history, and left us better documentation!!
Kudos to our ‘house Historian’.

* an aside- My Mom used to say someone ‘was rich as Croesus,’ bringing back a long lost fragment of a memory..
