The accident that killed her had no rhyme or reason – clear road, clear night, paved road, no alcohol, no drugs and the person who is responsible for her death was her boyfriend who was driving the motorcycle. Do we hate that young man and want revenge? NO. I get it, in that it’s not the same as someone pulling a trigger and killing her outright. My husband, was at first very bitter toward the guy, but he let that go as it would serve no purpose. The worst part of it, was that no one ever to this day, as there were others involved and it was a domino effect that led to her death, but the worst part is, is that no one involved ever made an attempt to say that they were sorry. It’s awfully hard to forgive, when no one says that they’re sorry, but my husband has forgiven them all. We’ve had to forgive in able to live again. The thing about the slain man in the Troy Davis case are the reports that they smiled while he was being murdered by the state. And then I heard this morning that the family released a statement that said that they took no joy from Troy’s death, but maybe now they’ll understand how they felt losing their son, brother and father. WTF? Troy Davis’s family lost him when he was incarcerated. I can’t explain it correctly and please forgive me for that. But even the family of Mr. Byrd, who was murdered by Lawrence Brewer in such an unimaginable and horrific way, even Mr. Byrd’s family asked the state of Texas not to kill him. My faith in God is doubtful at this point. I’ve lost my faith, is what I am trying to say. This is not what I learned at all growing up and I’m losing my faith every single day the longer the Rick Perry’s and faux Christians, such as Pat Robertson saying it’s okay to divorce when a spouse gets Alzheimer. There! I said it. Capital punishment is WRONG. There was also an execution yesterday of Lawrence Russell Brewer in Texas and he’s the white supremacist who killed a black man, James Byrd, by chaining him and dragging him on the back of his pickup truck. And as abhorrent as that crime is, even Mr. Brewer did not deserve death by the state because capital punishment is WRONG. The right-wing is all about saving embryos and zygotes, but when it comes to living people, they cheer death. Hell, even when it comes to Americans lacking health care, they cheer death. But let a woman in a Catholic Hospital, during birth, where it’s a life and death scenario and the hospital chooses to save the mother, the right-wingers are angered over the death of the baby and they believe that both should have died. I think it’s the management at that Walmart that made it sad. We didn’t plan on staying here 2 months, and we only had reservations for one month, but when we were reading that it was still so miserably hot in AZ, we asked for another month and that meant that we needed warmer clothes. We both only had one pair of jeans and more important, we needed warmer pajamas for sleeping. (it’s below freezing here at night, but very pleasant during the day since the rains have stopped) The store was in disarray, and unlike other Walmarts there was no bakery, and Walmarts usually do have excellent bakeries – we love bread from Walmart. There were hardly any winter clothes for adults. I ended up buying us sweats, and even though the choices were limited for that, I must say that for 5 bucks for the pants and another 5 for the tops, the sweats are exceptional and washed well with no shrinkage or bleeding colors, but sadly, made in China. They were also limited on choices of goods – such as canned foods, packaged bread and even simple things like peanut butter and jelly. The store is clean and it was majorly packed, but it was very difficult to find certain things. There’s a store in town called ALCO and it’s reminiscent of the old SS Kresge stores or Woolworth’s – do you remember those? » Posted By javaz On September 22, 2011 @ 1:20 pm Durango is one hour away, and it’s high desert. There’s a Walmart there – on the outskirts of town, and it’s one of the the saddest Walmart’s that I’ve ever been to, and we have traveled all over the 48 states, except for 5 states. Durango is a very cool town, especially if you’re into trains. Durango is similar to Scottsdale, Arizona, but much smaller and all about trains. There’s a history about it all, and I won’t bore you with that but the trains were not running to Silvervado because of mudslides. My husband and I are into traveling. We have a trailer that we tow, and before that we drove a C-Class motor home that we bought used, and it was when we owned that that we traveled. And then to make it even better, my husband was offered an opportunity in Paris, France, and we did that. I never wanted to actually go to Europe, but there was no way that I’d turn it down. And I’m very scared of flying, yet I did it anyway. It was the chance of a lifetime, and plus, France did not make us place our dog and cats in quarantine. We traveled Europe and we went off the beaten path where tourists normally never go. We got so lost in Switzerland and stopped for directions from a farmer and it was the Austrian speaking part, and that farmer would not let us go, until he thought that we understood his directions. When we were in Florence, Italy we got so horribly lost and because our car had French plates, the policia spoke to us in French. People are the same all over the world. Last night on the news from Denver, the local news did a story about PBO’s plan and raising taxes on the rich for those making a million dollars annually. My husband and I braced for it but we were shocked, SHOCKED, that the news from Denver told the truth. They explained that the rich pretty much pay what we all do on income, but the difference is that the rich make most of their money from dividends and on those investments they only pay 15%. They then went to Boulder, where according to them is where the vast majority are millionaires, and they took a poll asking them what they thought of the tax hike. SHOCK! They all said that they have no problem with paying higher taxes and were prepared for it, since they thought the Bush tax breaks on the rich would have expired already. And let me reiterate what I’ve said here before – we’re in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and their actual population is under 2000 people, but it’s a tourist town and the majority of tourists are Texans. The tourists have money – lots of time shares, and summer homes, golf and horseback riding, but honestly, it’s a down home atmosphere, as there not any fancy restaurants. Hunters are here BIG time right now and I swear to God that they are all Texans. Do you know how much it costs out-of-state people to come here and hunt? It’s over 360 dollars for a license to hunt for deer and close to a grand for moose and black bear. Texans here are very friendly people. So, I ask them what they think of their governor, and pretty much, they hate him, or else they don’t follow that “politics-horseshit”. They’re really into football, as are the Colorado people, and that’s fun, as we love football, too, but nowhere near like they do here and the Texans really do take the cake in flying their Cowboy and Longhorn flags – even when they tent camp. I swear to God that we’d move here in a New York minute, except for their winters. It’s very cold here – we’ve had one night of freezing temps – and us desert rats are so not used to that, especially in September. But the aspens and scrub oaks are turning colors and it’s so incredibly beautiful. There was snow on the upper peaks of the mountains last weekend, but it warmed up, so the snow melted. They do not have a problem with the bark-beetle here killing off their pines, as it gets cold here still and they get over 6 feet of snow. I could go all CT here, but I think that they saw an opportunity, and sucked in Liberals and Progressives, and the Tea Party has taken over the GOP, so now they are working on dissembling Democrats, because the GOP is whacked due to the Tea Party. It’s kind of hard to explain, or rather, complicated, but anyone familiar with Daily Kos knows that Markos recently stepped in to ‘moderate’ his site, and he’s been missing for quite some time. DailyKos has gone full FDL/Hamsher – and Kos has been ignoring his site since Keith Olbermann got his spot on Current TV and Markos became his sidekick. Markos has called it the “Purge of 2011” wherein he took a side between the Obama-sux/Obama-rox cliques and guess who won? 36 active commenters have been banned, and except for a few sock-puppets and one racist from the Obama-sux camp, every person banned is a person of color. He also removed privileges from members who are people of color, and members (me!) who support equality, and pro-Obama supporters (also me!). Now, I’m not an active blogger there, but my mistake was uprating comments by people who were fighting against the racism on that site and people supporting Obama. I’m not banned on that site, but might be now, because I haven’t looked this week as I am honoring the boycott. Why might I be banned you ask? Because when the diaries were posted about the boycott, I was telling people to come here to the PlanetPOV. Daily Kos has roughly 3% African Americans as members, and from the purge, 33% of those purged were from Black Kos. So, there’s a boycott for one week and I am hoping that other blog-sites pick up on it. There was a great group there called Criminal Injustice and the founders lost their privileges, and they’re not going back. (I’m very bad, in that I told them to post or cross-post here on the Planet, so my days on that site are over most likely – I’ll check back next Monday to see if I’m banned!) Kos had some great authors – TIMT who always posted pro-Obama diaries and he’s now banned, and Adept2U, also posted pro-Obama diaries and he was very vocal in fighting back against the racism and he’s also banned. Then there’s Soothsayer – a white woman who is a professor who teaches Sociology, and she founded Criminal Injustice with another person conlapka (please excuse my misspelling) and they always fought the racism on KOS and both lost privileges on that site. PlanetPOV is mentioned on another site in their blog roll, called The People’s View – and just as this site was started as an anti-HuffPo site, the TPV is just starting as the anti-KOS. I am standing with the KOS boycott, for whatever it’s worth, but I’d like to urge members here to support the boycott. Clicks bring money to sites, so please, for one week, do not click on KOS. And I’ve been on TPV and plugging the Planet and asking TIMT and Adept to publish here, as they would be welcome here and give a voice to African Americans. If I’d’ve been a betting woman, I’d’ve lost. Russell Pearce’s recall has breathed a breath of fresh air into Arizona, and given hope to those of us who are Democrats. Forget anything you read about recalling Jan Brewer, because that isn’t going to happen, and us Democrats are not even working toward that pie in the sky. What us Democrats are now working on is getting Richard Carmona to replace Kyl. It’s one step at a time, and by Pearce’s recall, it’s energized the Democrats in Arizona. My God, the Republicans aren’t even trying to pretend anymore in protecting the rich. And the Democrats, and sadly that includes Obama, are in on it, too. Politics are local, and working for Carmona for the Senate, is a very small beginning, just as those working in Massachusetts to elect Elizabeth Warren. Was that 2 years ago? My short term memory is not so good the older I get, and honest to God, it seems like I just put my Halloween Decorations away and yet, here we are again. Time flies and flies faster the older you get. It’s a pleasure to be a member of this site and I really mean that. I don’t blog as much and it’s because my husband is retired and we’re both getting older and I need to spend as much time with him that I can. Never take anything for granted. Happy Halloween! We just finished a book by him called, “Come Home, America”, and he explained what’s going on in such a fashion that even I could understand.
He laid out the differences between FDR and the Great Depression, to Obama and the Great Recession.
And he covered all presidents in between and the policies that have led to where we are today.
It has to do with tariffs in helping the recovery.

Very few options were available.

I was able to get us jeans and sweaters from that store, and the prices were very reasonable and sadly once again, everything was made in China.
The socks are American made though!

I’m lacking in social skills – always have been and always will be – but my mother never allowed us to have friends, and I went to Catholic School from 1st grade through 12th, and trust me, everyone hated me.
Not only did that husband hate me, but he seriously abused me mentally.
He reinforced what I grew up hearing.
